Yeah there is usually a null somewhere from 50-80hz in the car. When you play from a speaker in the back its pronounced and unacceptable. Subs in the back do not sound good above this null either. You should handle down to that null with front speakers then swap to the sub in the back below it. Hard to do though depending on the output level you want. Just like you said the 6.5s are going to lose alot of volume potential because they need all their excursion headroom devoted to going low. 8s do alot better and if you can manage it a small sub in the front is perhaps the best solution. Subs can be crossed over higher too in order to bring the subs closer to the front stage. Installed / Used an Aliante 15" woofer in AP / IB setup in a vehicle, it had a lot of musical output above 100-200HZ that provided a very snappy midbass and impactful presence to the vehicle front stage. My question to you is, can you have too many speakers in a car and depending on where the sound/frequency is coming from a specific frequency/range is being cancelled out?
Allen Anthony If you have multiple speakers running in the same range, then it can be tricky, but in this case these speakers run in dedicated bandpassed range in an active setup.

Sadly mine looks worse. I have a total of 4 pairs of speakers installed that I am not using. People who are not into sq think it looks impressive but to me it just looks stupid.
Downside is this is incredibly illegal in most countries (modifying impact areas for passengers) and stiffening a dashboard with fibreglass will mean incredibly bad injuries in a head on collision. I'm sure it sounds good but I hope you don't care about people in the passenger seat if you have a serious collision because you will be responsible both morally and legally for their signicantly increased injuries so you have better bass integration 👍 Plus honestly, despite your good workmanship, this does look pretty stupid having a huge bulge in your glovebox. I mean you could have just used the footwell at least.

I have a toyota corolla with active focal kx3 set up front, with two jl audio 10w7's sealed in the trunk. Do you think adding another set/second set of midwoofers in the front doors would make a good difference?. The sub is set up to 80hz, the 6.5 takes over from 80hz to 500, the 3 inch goes from 500 to 6500, and the tweeter goes from 6500 up.
How much money have you invested in your sound system why zappos on amy when could build your own in your garage thanks for vids
Hello, what portable player are you using? I assume it has an optical out, i am finding it difficult to find a reasonably priced portable player with optical out.
Fiio X7 with coax digital output, check out the other videos.
@@pssound9749 Yes i have watched your other videos, very interesting
Is it alright to just run 1 (8”) sub up front, instead of 2? To fill in that gap between 50-70 hz.?
I have active 2 way in front. 6.5 in doors and tweets in sails. A single 12 “ sub in a sealed box. Which is
Where are you from man, England? You seem to have a German Accent but your wheel is on the wrong side
Haha, indeed, i live in UK, but have a German name and Hungarian family! 😃
Nice vid. Did you mention the amplifier(s) being utilized in this setup?
Bchester6 I had Zapco Z Le amps for the front and Z series for the subs.
Can u explain why you did a 4 way setup with the 3 way all above the dash?
This system has been continuously changing in the last 3,5years. It’s not the case that I deliberately wanted a 4way front end, but it just happened by experimenting step by step.
I’m gonna explain everything in the next videos! ;)
i would love do same set up in bmw in my mercedes glc 43amg
I was actually thinking of using three 4 channel,if decide to just live single sub with 500 to 600 w. Rms, maybe I can try out some of those butt shakers, should be cool, what do you guys recommend
What about a miata are the acoustics different for small 2 seaters?
I have two big 5 channel amps and I'm gonna need to change to smaller class d amps because I have a hybrid and I need more efficiency, I would love for you guys to give me a recommendation, I have 2 helix dark blue 5 channel, I'm thinking of two hertz hdpc 4 channel and 1 hdp1 which gives me plenty of headroom if I continue to use passive on some areas
Why not use FIR filters to fix the phase issues?
Because it doesn’t fix those problems.
So you actually run 2 different subs? An 8" up front and something else in the rear? Do you run 2 different size subs? I always theorized that a 15 and an 8 would be a good mix, but it seems to be frowned upon when i look online.
Great
Is it Audible Physics?
Udaya Jayaseelan Jayabal some of the speakers in this video are Audible Physics, yes!

Are those the AP nz3?
No. What you can see on the dash is:
- RAM1A
- RAM2Q
- RAM6.38
How do I get upfront bass without moving the sub to the front. 2013 KIA optima.
Timmothy If you watched this video, it should be clear that it’s way more complex than giving a single sentence answer for this question.
Having solid midbass upfront is a must though.
And meant to say zappco on amps sorry for the type o
What is concert level in ~db ?
Lawrence V. Athill 100-110dB on the front-end.
... Just when I thought it was already a lot of work to install a 3-way+sub on a car not made with it in mind.
It must sound great, but the look is just as important as the sound and, let me tell you with a lot of respect, your car looks horribly messed up. Too many speakers
This car has been a project car, something in the make in the last 4,5years. Check out the other videos and it will make more sense!
By the way, don’t judge by yours eyes, but your ears! You’d be well surprised! 👌
Sadly mine looks worse. I have a total of 4 pairs of speakers installed that I am not using. People who are not into sq think it looks impressive but to me it just looks stupid.
Honestly it doesn't even look half bad at all
Downside is this is incredibly illegal in most countries (modifying impact areas for passengers) and stiffening a dashboard with fibreglass will mean incredibly bad injuries in a head on collision.
I'm sure it sounds good but I hope you don't care about people in the passenger seat if you have a serious collision because you will be responsible both morally and legally for their signicantly increased injuries so you have better bass integration 👍
Plus honestly, despite your good workmanship, this does look pretty stupid having a huge bulge in your glovebox. I mean you could have just used the footwell at least.
Is it the very first “no compromise” sound quality competition system you’ve seen in your life?
