    My wife and I rode behind steam quite a few years ago. My wife is confined to a wheelchair and the staff treated us very well . It really was a once in a lifetime experience as my wife no longer can go on train rides. I would highly recommend WMSR.

      These guys that volunteer here are indeed awesome. Very
      happy to hear they took good care of your wife, that just speaks
      so highly of the care the WMSR has for their entire operation and
      their customers. Do appreciate your sharing the very nice

    That was a real nice treat to take a little Fall trip at the end of winter! The greenery was a nice respite. I really liked that tunnel with the walkway in it, buy the scenery on the whole trip was breathtaking! Those bluff tops along the way look just like pretty much everywhere around here so it felt like I was right at home. Good job Dave! 😊

      were really nice, although this year the leaves were a big

    Wonderful and scenic. Brings back memories of working for the High Iron Co. out of Lebanon, NJ. We ran a fan trip from Connellsville to Hagerstown and return on the WM in the early 1970's. Locomotive 759, former NKP Berkshire. All of us slept in the Pullman cars that Ross Rowland owned. I made sure my vacation time was taken when the fan trips were scheduled. I was with the Erie-Lackawanna then.

    One of the best highlights to biking the GAP/C&O rail trail is crossing paths with this scenic railway. It really brings the history of the route into focus. Another one for me personally was camping across the river from another active line running freight and Amtrak but I can understand a lighter sleeper being frustrated with that.

      sure to visit the Thrasher Carriage House, it's directly to the left

      in Frostburg that is if you like horse drawn carriages. CSX has a huge
      yard across the river from Cumberland also.

    Nice trip esp. The feel of the grade and the curves. All too often someone says Maryland and you think big city. Baltimore and proximity to Washington yet Cumberland was a big city to WM. Good track and structures and in that rural area WM was married to coal and timber. Nice views. In the mountains glad you and the wife had time to relax

      It's only a little over an hour from us. Has a great history, coal
      was it's bread and butter. They had some really big steam locos,
      like the Challengers and Decapods to pull those heavy coal drags
      over the mountains. Do hope you are very well Bob!

    Another great video I told more of my friends about your video and they had no idea about this railroad but they say they do now and they're hooked very very interesting they said I'm curious do you have any railroad crossings on your railroad?

    • @ccrx6700
      @ccrx6700  2 роки тому

      Glad you enjoyed and appreciate the recommendations. Yes we
      do have 4 private crossings, one is in a farmers field just for
      him, 1 is at our MP 8 and is only used by another farmer along
      with a spot for us to get our trucks on rail and off and the other 2 are at an abandoned mine and one of those roads is never used but gated off. No public crossings.

    Thanks Dave... Was a nice trip ... Did it go thru Frostburg, Maryland? That would be West of where you started in Cumberland. Have been there many times. Funny just saw what you listed... How many miles trip would you guess? Cost?

    • @ccrx6700
      @ccrx6700  2 роки тому

      Glad you enjoyed Wayne. Trip was about 17 miles and costs depend
      on the trip you book, first ride we did couple years we had the
      diner car which was more expensive, but what a beautiful car
      that was! They didn't have diner car on this ride. Cumberland is
      a little over an hour from where we live. They turned the loco around
      at Frostburg, next video will be of turntable action there.

    Now let's see you don't have a lanyard for your camera or a strap that goes around your neck for just that kind of emergency. One of the bad points in using a "smartphone" as a video device.
