Great ride along Dave, some real beautiful country side, there were some great post card moments, and the high cliffs were great, but I really liked the tunnel. Glad you had a great day. And thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for the video Dave! I love those scenic railroads. My Dad and have done many over the years. Western Maryland is definitely the prettiest part of that state imo. Thanks for taking us along! Hope you got to enjoy it and not just video! :) hope you and your wife are well!
That was a real nice treat to take a little Fall trip at the end of winter! The greenery was a nice respite. I really liked that tunnel with the walkway in it, buy the scenery on the whole trip was breathtaking! Those bluff tops along the way look just like pretty much everywhere around here so it felt like I was right at home. Good job Dave! 😊
Thank you for the very nice comment Mojo. Glad you enjoyed the train ride with us today. This is beautiful country, just between the wife's and my schedules couldn't do it when the leaves were really nice, although this year the leaves were a big disappointment around here .
Wonderful and scenic. Brings back memories of working for the High Iron Co. out of Lebanon, NJ. We ran a fan trip from Connellsville to Hagerstown and return on the WM in the early 1970's. Locomotive 759, former NKP Berkshire. All of us slept in the Pullman cars that Ross Rowland owned. I made sure my vacation time was taken when the fan trips were scheduled. I was with the Erie-Lackawanna then.
Awesome Gary, that had to be a fantastic trip! So glad you got to ride behind a Nickle Plate. We need more of those kind of excursions around the country. Your like me, a railroader who takes vacation time to go visit other railroads. Thanks for sharing tonight my friend.
That was a great video, Dave. Brings back wonderful memories of our ride in the Dining car several years back with our church. My mother's family is from Cumberland too, so it felt like coming home. I think a day trip is in order.
We rode couple years ago and had lunch in the diner car, it was incredible to me the wood work, it was exquisite. Really glad you enjoyed the show today John.
Awesome video Dave and I can't wait until we get there to ride! ABSOLUTELY beautiful countryside up there and seems so peaceful! Hearing the horns blow makes my heart smile! I've always had a passion for trains that's carried on for 40+ years now and it never gets old! Also hearing you chuckle during the ride shows you're a kid at heart too and I'm glad you get to enjoy trains away from your job! Thanks again for sharing this video and look fwd to seeing the next one my friend! God Bless and take care!
Our engineer that day like to blow the horn! Sitting right behind the loco it got pretty loud after awhile. We appreciate your riding along with us Shawn, glad you enjoyed the trip my friend.
Thank you very much for allowing us to join you on this most exquisite of journeys. The locomotive hauling the train sounds great as well as looking good in its excellent livery. This is a magnificent asset to the community.
Cumberland is proud of their scenic RR, it's a nice clean well kept place to visit and the volunteers are extraordinary there. Do appreciate the nice comment and for watching John.
One of the best highlights to biking the GAP/C&O rail trail is crossing paths with this scenic railway. It really brings the history of the route into focus. Another one for me personally was camping across the river from another active line running freight and Amtrak but I can understand a lighter sleeper being frustrated with that.
Dave thank you for the great ride along through Maryland. When I did otr Maryland is a very beautiful and scenic place to visit. Hope you are having a great day! ❤🇨🇦

Hi Dave, just wanted to let you know we booked our ride on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad in October aboard #1309! We're staying 3 nights at the Cumberland Inn and some friends are going w us! Not trying to rush time away but I'm ready to ride. Thanks again for sharing the videos abt it and have watched it several times to get prepared for this.
Awesome Shawn! You will love it. When you get to Frostburg be sure to visit the Thrasher Carriage House, it's directly to the left of the turntable., it's much much more interesting than the shops in Frostburg that is if you like horse drawn carriages. CSX has a huge yard across the river from Cumberland also.
Nice trip esp. The feel of the grade and the curves. All too often someone says Maryland and you think big city. Baltimore and proximity to Washington yet Cumberland was a big city to WM. Good track and structures and in that rural area WM was married to coal and timber. Nice views. In the mountains glad you and the wife had time to relax

Really appreciate your going on the train ride with us today my friend.
@@ccrx6700 it was a beautiful ride thanks for sharing Dave
Was this filmed in March, if so I'm Jealous as you have green.
In October of 2021. Was hoping to be able to do this when the
leaves were in full color, but with wife and my schedule just
couldn't do it. Do appreciate your riding along with us today Mack.
Don’t drop the camera!
I didn't but was nervous the whole time Michael!
Now let's see you don't have a lanyard for your camera or a strap that goes around your neck for just that kind of emergency. One of the bad points in using a "smartphone" as a video device.
I didn't know you could get that, will have to check it out, I was
nervous the whole trip about dropping, thanks for the idea Hugh.
