Well done Rob,love catching up with your videos.Got a good friend who gardens March to October and then Nov to Feb indoors decorating' he loves both.Enjoy your well earned break.
Great post Rob. I’m the same down here on the Sussex riviera all my customers know that I’m available for extra cuts over the winter and have had many take me up on it. Grass has kept growing though we’ve had our first cold snap so should slow down. I wouldn’t be without my battery cutting equipment now but each to their own.
I have the 122HD60, it's a great machine, and excellent value for money. I also have it's much bigger brother, the 522HDR75X. It's an absolute beast, possibly even better than my Stihl HS81R! Nice job chap!👍
I’m planning to prune about 50 budlejas soon and will try out the woodchipper (same as you’ve got) . Good hedgework 👍. It’s important to wear the right clothing in this weather. I need good warm boots will get this weekend.
Good job, I like working through the winter, but I have chosen to have a few days off to do a bit of servicing, sorting out sheds and workshop, and DIY which the wife is pleased about. What's best about it is that you can choose whether you go out or not, which you don't always get in the summer. All the best.
Great video Rob, would love to see a video of all your kit, mowers, blowers, strimmers would be a good video. keep up the great work, hope to see you on the next one.
The contrast between the two sides says it all! My clients - the women - can't believe I work outside in this weather- but if you work hard, you stay warm. (I am still mowing lawns in London). Weird.
Top job there Rob. You know how I rave about my battery gear. Well, this past 12 months I've gone through TWO short reach Ego hedge trimmers. I wouldn't mind but I seldom use them. Thankfully they have been replaced under warranty. They are the only bits of all my Ego kit that has let me down, and I've got a fair few pieces now. If I wasn't also transitioning towards lawn treatments I might be tempted to invest in a petrol husky. All the best. 👍.
Warning to anyone using the short petrol hedge trimmers( not pole ones) they are near face most of the time and you are breathing petrol fumes and this year I’ve been diagnosed with Progressive Pulmonary Fibrosis . My working days are coming to an end and I am only 59. If there’s one battery pierce equipment you must have in your arsenal it this type of trimmer. Sorry but I have to put this out there.
@ Thanks Ray been using this type of hedge trimmer for 20 years and have always worried about the fumes I’ve been breathing in. I’ve been on battery now for 5 years unfortunately too late for me but hopefully not for others. I do use a petrol pole trimmer which seems to keep fumes away from face as you mostly have engine waist height or below.
I don't notice any odors from my short hedge trimmer when I work with it, practically nothing, if anything, I would at least cough or be dizzy, so I doubt that newer trimmers that have an exhaust in the front are problematic. To be honest, I'm more concerned about the dust that is released from the hedge cutting
Each to their own most will say as I guess they don't want to offend you Rob but I don't think you're the type of guy to get offended by straight talking people as we both seem that way😅 I'll say you can definitely find other kit to make life so much easier facing off hedges like that, getting off the hedge with an angled bit of kit especially on hedges that aren't dead straight and the arc of cut massively improves too. We're too old to be doing things the hard way 🤣 anyway...each to their own.
Thanks Nathan , I am actually looking at the HSA 60 hedge trimer. I have a couple of fortnightly jobs where it would come in handy and i could give the petrol a rest. All the best.
Good job Rob. Just done a leylandii hedge at least 100 ft just before the temperature dropped drastically. Could the hedge be damaged by frost or weakened to allow cypress aphids to attack? Tia.
Why aren't you looking at us Rob? Nice to do hedges where no need for tarps over gravel or flower beds.Quicker and easier to clear up! 'Kerching!' = Pennies in the pot!
@@maxwellsgrasscuttingservices It did feel strange after all the years of viewing that we didn't have eye contact. I wondered whether it was a new way of presenting to end the season, which, still feels a long way off with everything still growing and leaves blowing everywhere!
Hi Rob, I’ve enjoyed your content throughout the season. Rest up now, have a great Christmas and new year. I’ll look forward to watching you again next season. All the best, Scott (SHM Garden Services, based in the north east… of Scotland 👍🏻
It's been an incredibly mild October and November. We've been cutting lawns on 15th Nov. We would have been cutting this week if it hadn't been for the snow! in West Yorkshire.
Another great vid rob 👍 im going to see if i can get something going in the new year to get me off building sites im a tarmacer, im a big fan of honda what mower would you suggest me to get for small to medium gardens? I have a decent budget to get me going so that isnt an issue and i do understand you get what you pay for. Look forward to your next video 😊
Like you I find fingers to be the weakest point once the temperatures are below 5. Add to that the handling of wet or frozen stuff and they can literally hurt like hell! Any recommendations on gloves would be useful. I must have gone through hundreds over the years. 🤷♂️

My favourite time of the year for gardening is winter. Great work on the hedge. My last grass cut was on December 5th.
Neighbour done a good job assuming he’s blind and using nail scissors… great job on your side
😂
Skytec Argo gloves are great for winter. That hedge looked great on your side.
Thanks 👍

Nice to catch up with you Rob, I thought the fringe along the top of the neighbours side was particularly fetching!
I agree, thanks for watching.
Very nice work Rob . Moral to this video - You get what you dont pay for . If you dont have the skills or kit required .
Spot on.

I am definitely going to look at Stihl battery kit for next year. 👍🏻
I follow Conor Monro in Scotland and he reckons Husky battery is as good if not better.
Thanks

Take care .

I’m going all battery next year, I’m 45 now and I’m thinking ahead, health an all that 👍🏻. Less vibration, less noise and no fumes

Lewis knows what he talking about, like him a lot , calls a spade a spade, got fit apprentice as well😊😂😂

In my experience Leylandii hedges are tough as old boots. Good luck.

Have a look at the Honda hrx range.
Always buy from a local dealer when starting out. Put your hands on the kit.
Latex Gloves good wear under Normal Gloves keep hands Warm
Brilliant.

Reynauds phenomenon?
Like you I haven’t found the perfect glove yet. 👍🏻
@ We should design one! Mine would run off lithium batteries. 🤷♂️🤣
Dewalt anti vibration gloves , thank me later haha
Hi Rob, what would you recommend for an extendable trimmer? I need something light weight, my Webb long reach is far too heavy!
I like the stihl combi engine with the long reach attachment. It’s not for everyone.
Go to a local dealer and put your hands on the kit.
Good luck. 🤞
Who you talking to in the van chat ??😂😂
I was looking at the wrong lens , sorry. 😔
Yep the nieghbours side is a car crash, let one of those hedges extend out, no tidy way back...
Thanks
Fook me shoulders killing me Rob only 3 weeks into this
Keep smiling. 😊
Sorry rob battery is the wall ay forward but to expensive
I agree . Going to look at it in the new year .
