- Jeff Bezos launched into space on Tuesday on the New Shepard rocket built by his company, Blue Origin. Bezos was joined by his brother Mark and two history-making passengers: 82-year-old aviation pioneer Wally Funk, the oldest person to fly in space, and Oliver Daemen, an 18-year-old Dutch student who is the youngest ever to fly in space.

@@superchuck3259 provide me an example of bezos using political connections to get what he wants. Also, his stock price corresponds to how his company is doing. And I can say that he controls over half the world's servers, and has the biggest online shopping platform, I am not even naming half the things that make amazon what it is.

I'd be happy if Jeff Bezos would Start Paying Taxes, And, treated his employees with dignity and fair pay.
So you don't think that getting all his employees to pay their taxes is a good idea? How do you know that he doesn''t pay some time of personal taxes. Just like every one in this country if he buys anything at another store he will be paying general sales taxes. He is a person, and not just a man and/or human. General sales tax applies to anyone who buys a product for themselves even the entrepreneur cannot write that off unless he can justify it as a business expense. Also in the past I understood that the person/man/human bought a whole lot of property in Las Vegas, NV. He must pay some sort ot taxes in that low tax state. I wonder what kind of property taxes he pays on his Texas land? Gotta be some type of property taxes regardless of the lack of anything there other than his Blue Horizon business.

When you grow a business you are allowed to put your profits back into the business to grow it. That’s what he has done. Employing many more people who pay taxes. He probably pays himself a legitimate wage on which he pays tax, he can’t just take money out of Amazon and put it in his pocket , that nonsense.

It is not part of the military industrial complex but it is related in a way that only big money can be. Branson and Bezos ventures are private money trying to make a profit selling thrill ride seats and all the theatrics and hype that entailed. With the exception of the vertical return rocket, there is nothing new here. Without Ms. Wally Funk aboard, it would be just 3 billionaires pissing money away on extravagant ride.
I am proud to contribute my tax payer dollars to the incredible achievements of JPL in laying the groundwork exploring the solar system. If I had to bet on any private business, I'd put my money on Musk.

FYI The launch starts at 55:15 if you want to skip the chit chat. Unfortunately they didn't show a camera inside the capsule, but there was a view from the rocket after it separated as it came back down.

I believe they purposely omitted the elevator getting on the shuttle to demonstrate to the world the physicality of the passengers most esp for the 82 yr Wally Funk!. I think It was a great strategy. At same the NASA astronauts had to wear these bulky space suits which would be tough to take the stairs unlike what the Shepard crew suits. I think Blue Orgin wanted to go a different route from yo typical NASA boarding routine..
