    I took my son to see it and it was one of the most heartwarming and complete movies that I’ve seen in several years.
    In an increasingly negative world, it was refreshing to see something like this.

      @TheHeartThatRunsCold 7 років тому +1

      Toyo Hoshi You lost me at "increasingly negative world"

    • @GigawingsVideo
      @GigawingsVideo 7 років тому +21

      I had to agree with Toyo, we live in a more negative world because the top comment was expecting Charlie to be sarcastic. Also remember that UA-cam supported a content creator that literally made fun of a dead body and our news broadcast always filled with slander and hate between political parties.

    • @TheHeartThatRunsCold
      @TheHeartThatRunsCold 7 років тому +1

      That's not a case for the world being more negative. The landscape of how we consume information, and how overloaded we are in terms of the information we can choose to consume, makes it seem that way. People have always been cynical twats, every person has it in them to be one. The internet age just makes that cynicism easier to manifest, but if it was always there, could you really say the pile of negativity has increased? Also the opposite of that coin has become just as prevalent, there are more people spreading positive energy, and helping others push themselves to become better. And again, this has always been the case, it's just more in our faces now. People get absorbed in the bad so quickly that they forget to step back and look at what good is happening. What good they can find, but choose not to, since the opposite sticks out more. If you could make a case for increasing negativity it'd predominantly be due to this lack of gratitude for what we do have, and what beauty there is already in the world. For those who feel like Toyo, I'd simply say "contribute something positive, and look at the good around you".

    • @yjm_strat7134
      @yjm_strat7134 7 років тому +9

      Jeremiah S Well, there’s your view on how the world is and how it REALLY is.
      The Earth is vastly overpopulated and drug use is at an epidemic level; these two things are facts. The problems that our society faces are much more different than those that have come before us.
      Keeping your head in the sand doesn’t mean that there isn’t a storm outside.
      Something like Paddington 2 is the calm in the eye of that storm.
      Be blessed.

    • @peterd788
      @peterd788 5 років тому +5

      It only underperformed in the US but it did very well elsewhere and particularly the UK which is its core market because Paddington is much more of an institution there than in the US. The other thing about children's films that are this good is the distributor can resell the film every 7 or 8 years to a new crowd. That's why they create them with no visual topical references and have them exist in an indistinct time period. Even without home media sales it recouped over 6 times its production budget. Also, as of November 2019 it is the most well rated movie in Rotten Tomatoes history with 100% fresh from 235 reviews.

    Wholesome really is the best word to describe Paddington 2, there's not a single thing that's objectionable about it, it's got a good message and a great heart.

    i love how half the video is him explaining that he would have given it a higher score but 95-100 is reserved for other stuff, and then the other half is him raving about how amazing this movie is

    I went to see this movie and my god, this movie was very creative and fun to watch, for both people who just want to see a movie, and people who like to deeply analyze a movie from a director/animator/editor standpoint. There are so much creative camera shots where the set is so tiny, but at the same time, it feels like it’s normal sized. Like the scene where paddington opens up the rare book, and it just shows his mom ON THE PAPER SHIP, AND PADDINGTON RUNNING ON A PAPER DOCK! Or another scene (MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD!KIND OF NOT SPOILERS BUT IT’S IMPORTANT TO THE PLOT SO JUST SKIP TO THE NEXT PARAGRAPH OR SOMETHING) where paddington and the gang at prison start to break out. It shows the warden going to bed, and then focuses on a scale model of the prison. AND THEN PADDINGTON’S CREW BREAK OUT ON THE SCALE MODEL! I KNOW IT’S INSIGNIFICANT, BUT IT’S SUCH A FUCKING BRILLIANT PLOT SEGWAY!
    LIGHTING: TASTY AS FUCK
    VOICE ACTING/ACTORS: SUBSTANTIAL
    CHOREAGRAPHY: EXPERTLY PULLED OFF!
    MARMALADE SANDWICHES: I don’t know, I never tried them.
    Ok, no angel is free from sin, so there are only 3 complaints with this movie that I have.
    1. Jokes
    I know, since this is a kids movie, it can’t make the sex, drugs, guns, and violence humor that i’m used to, but I wish they slipped in the casual “Joke that only grown-ups get and kids don’t” kind of joke. But the humor, like this movie, is generally wholesome.
    2. Side Characters.
    This maybe because I didn’t watch the first movie, but a lot of the side characters in the movie are just plot devices, and not actual characters. They could get a minute or two of sub-plot, but then they just go back to being plot devices.
    3.Predictability
    Since this movie is riddled with plot devices and stuff like that, when a character triggers something in the plot, you can’t help but realize “Oh that characters going to come back once something happens”. I won’t spoil the end, but let me say, it’s predictable, but a wholesome tearjerker.
    My rating for Paddington 2
    8.5/10
    Very creative and fun movie with passion and brilliant minds, but minor flaws hold it back from 9 or even a 10. Go see it if garbage movies are clogging your “Coming Soon” trailers.
