    Unfortunately, they were released too soon, and died.

      These are beautiful creatures who you should respect, it's like having one of them being like "oh lol Humans are extinct again"

      3 died: 2 from Io (Hawaiian Hawk attack), 1 from starvation. Then the other 2 released were recaptured. These scientists were over-anxious and didn't answer the questions of "Why were the Alala going extinct in the first place?" and "Are these factors no longer there?" Despite not asking, they got their answers. Now the program mimics swooping predators to prepare the next batch, which was released into the wild in Sep 2017. These birds are like giant bullseyes for predators and provide much more food per catch so they will have to out-think the owls and hawks constantly in order to survive.
