Make another video when you have some real progress. I feel like you purposely put this project off, just to make video content. You are dragging this out for years..... COME ON!
Well, when you can only work for an hour or two at a time, and people enjoy following the progress, yes I make content to follow the progress. I can't sit here and work 8 hours a day like most people can, some days I can hardly do anything.
@@kapperoutdoors Good Point Kapp, I take back what I said. I've been a huge fan of yours and have watched everyone of your videos for the past 4 years. I love the content and always look forward to your next video. You had a big part in me realizing my dreams and moving out of the city and finding my own piece of land and making it my own. Thanks for all you do!
Long, short doesn't matter. Love that machine and glad Im getting to watch while you learn to fine tune your skills with it. That thing is amazing. Thumbs up!
The more skid steer/CTL action the better! All machines take a bit of a learning curve, I find skid steers easier to grade with than tractors but I’m getting better with my tractor too. The biggest challenge for me was having to go from hand/foot controls on a skid steer to all hand controls. Nice video.
Thanks I appreciate it, yeah there's really a big difference between the tractor and skid steer I didn't think it was going to be that different but it sure is
Kapper you did something I have not seen on other sites, you answered all of the comments with words . Thank you. That was noted after over 19 hours of comments..
Enjoyed the video Kap. You know, I had no idea you turned Kentucky off. I thought you guys were moving there. No matter where you go, you'll have fun and enjoy the outdoors. From seeing your old videos, you and the family had fun at each place you've lived over the years. Have a fine week and keep doing it while you can still move.
The length of the video was fine. I like them a little longer. Your getting better every video with that machine. You have a great place in Illinois and a nice place in Kentucky for a nice getaway.
I like the 15min videos. Also if you tilt the bucket slightly forward when doing your back drag, you'll be able to fill in your track ruts as you're working. Just a thought..
Thanks man. Yeah, tried that lots of times but the clay was so wet it was not filling in the tracks. I even did it with some serious down pressure, but to no avail! That stuff was a bit too wet. Appreciate it
land management, and tractor/equipment videos I like the longer ones. But I also like during the longer ones explaining what you are doing and why, you are pretty good at that. Keep it up Kapper
Enjoyed the longer video! I would like to learn more about duck ponds- is there a size, depth, certain amount of vegetation you aim for? Maybe you could educate me in a future video. If you did mention this info previously, maybe you could give me a link to that video. Thanks!!
Thanks man, appreciate it. The basics are you should have a flat area that you can dam off so you can flood it in the future. You install a pipe or a water gate, plant waterfowl food like millet and milo in the spring/summer. Then in the fall you flood it. Generally anywhere from 12 inches to 18 inches of water give/take, so the waterfowl can eat up the seed heads. Many of them are made so they catch a lot of rain runoff to flood them naturally when you close up the pipe or water gate. I learned a lot on this one, the biggest thing, was we had way too much elevation and had to move massive amounts of dirt. But we really don't have many flatter spots around. Hope that helps some, take care man
I really liked the video Joe, the length and content plus you explaining what you were trying to accomplish all seemed spot on. Whenever I suggest an idea it’s always meant to be positive so please when you come across garbage in your fields please pick it up and throw it in the garbage so it cannot continue to be an eyesore on your property. Maybe you didn’t notice it while working but you ran over an old sign, that really should of been thrown out, or better yet sent to the Schickster as he has started repurposing old junk hahaha
Really enjoy your videos. Looking to do a similar project, but using your videos to formulate a plan and visualize what I need to do. 20 minute is typically the perfect video length, that is what all the professional you tubers aim for anyway.
You can use the 4 n 1 bucket and open jaws as you are moving forward to help distribute dirt and grade simultaneously. As the jaws open the blade will work sorta like a dozer and help push the material as you go. This may help your grading technique as you are getting acquainted with the new approach. Nice vids and greetings from NC.
Thank you, appreciate it. yeah its going to take a little time to get the grading down (forward), I should try the dozer blade. Way different than a tractor loader or a fixed blade. Have a good one!
@@kapperoutdoors Yeah, as you open the 4 n1 bucket the blade will help grade as you move forward. (especially in tight quarters like the dam). Def different than grading on a tractor. Great to see you working on the duck pond though. Congrats on the new skid and best wishes to you an Ms Kap.
After you dump your bucket, pull up past it, lower your bucket flat on ground and back drag every other one so you leveling it out and packing as you go.
Good videos. If I could make a suggestion you might consider learning to use you combo bucket.much faster once you learn to use the clam for spreading dirt and setting grade. I also find that when building berms and lifting grade it’s faster to pack 3-4 buckets to the area before spreading. Just some tips from my own experiences. cheers
Awesome, thanks. I'm using the magnum bucket right now to move as much fill as possible. But then I will break out the 4 in 1 for sure. I do need to learn it a bit yet for grading but I believe you are right will be much easier! Thanks for the tips.
Thank you I appreciate it, I've been after her to give me an hour or two on the skid steer but so far we've been a little busy but I will get her in that machine sooner or later!

yeah we just got hammered last night with rain so the fun is over for awhile. Your impoundment looked really low so I be you will be wet for a long while yet. Good luck!

I like the longer videos 15/20 min. I could not understand anything you were saying. Wondering if you did a voice over when you edit your videos, would be much better, try it once to see if you like it???
Thanks man. Yeah, I hear you, audio stinks on that gopro. I may try some voice over instead, but you kind of lose the actual conversation during the work project... Although, I could try and audio recording on my phone at the same time. Good idea! Thanks!
Please excuse my ignorance...what is the purpose of a duck pond? I see that it is shallow and for ducks but what does it provide/do that the lake doesn’t? I would have thought to make it deeper and have another fishing area. Thanks.
You plant food that waterfowl likes during the Spring and Summer and then you flood it in the fall so they have food sources that they won't get in a normal lake or a pond.
In our training classes at the prison, each subject matter or instructor were taught to keep things at about 20 mins because that when the human attention span starts to waver. And I can't ever remember a training video going over 30 minutes.
Has this "duck pond" ever attracted ducks (seems to have attracted frogs)? ;-) It looks to have suffered a series of problems through the years, resulting with having to drain it (upper, lower or both), building up the sides that had been flattened down by rain and washouts, then refilling it? Well, this year it held water for the first time really, and did have some millet and milo in it. Thank you we appreciate it! We might have the same 'condition!' LOL equipment madness!
It is unbelievable how much dirt you can move with a skid steer. Great job.
Yeah I know I mean that is just sickening. That's probably at least a full cubic yard in every single scoop thanks man

Good amount o dirt moved there 🤔💪💪
Yeah that machine is a stud it will cut dirt moving time probably down by 2/3ds

Awesome, thanks for the feedback.
Very nice job 👍

That clay looks tough to handle, but the bobcat makes it look easy.
yeah that stuff is sick heavy!! I'd love to weigh just one huge bucket of that... Has to be a half ton...

Good job Kap, t650 moved the clay with ease. Like the longer videos but either way long or short we'll still be here watching. Keep up the good work
