This was the most realistic and compassionate take on burnout recovery I've ever seen :') Thank you so much for making this. I'm hoping that eventually every single day won't feel like Mount Everest to me, but until then, I'm gonna apply these steps (and therapy, lol) and trust the process.

I just want to say that it really helped me to see you work through your rough day. It made me feel so much less alone and helped me realize that it's OK to take things slow.

This makes me so happy. I’m so glad it helped you feel less alone… because you’re not alone!! Everyone experiences this. I hope the tips will be helpful for you when you have a burnout day again.

These tips are really useful. One thing I can add is cleaning my house like crazy and throwing out junk. A clean, uncluttered house is a big motivator for me.

Beautiful and very couragous. Thank you for expressing this so sweetly. I like to add self-compassion, which brings love into the picture, because burn out for me can be trying to help too many people and forget to pay attention to what I need. Yes, I am a healing Type 2.
    Love you!

For me, it always helps to talk to a supportive friend, even if only for a few minutes. When I'm feeling burnt out or super-stressed, the last thing I need is to be by myself and stewing in my own thoughts.

THIS. Yes. Sometimes we just can’t trust ourselves when we get to that point. Inviting someone else in with their fresh perspective can make all the difference. Thanks for sharing, Julie.

Wow, thank you so much for being that honest and unfiltered - highly appreciated by a 4, but i also love your scetches ❤
Taking a hot extended shower is at the top of my mental survival and feelgood list 😇 About comleting the stress circle and grace, i think MOVEMENTS on a minor scale can also be helpful! For example
    》Stretching - legs / neck
    》 Singing - vocal chords
    》 Purposeless Writing - hand

As a 3, when I have nothing happening stresses me out and makes me feel like doing nothing at all. Like "meh, why doing this?". Actually, when theres A LOT of things to do is when i feel the best, because 1. It's a source of activity and I feel productive and 2. I feel like I HAVE to have the control of the situation.
At work, the best days where the ones where i had to multitask and do tons of work.
I am terrified of failing or looking bad at doing things or I give an impression I don't want to (I'm always thinking of "how should i act and shat should i do to look like this, the version i think it's the best for me?"), but people has calmed my fear down and at least, with them, i learned how to learn more about my failures (WHICH I DON'T HAVE, I NEVER LOSE)
PS: the dressing up is funny because it works for me too. Idk in other countries but in spain everyone wears pajamas all day at home and when we get home we immediately put our pajamas on. I take my time to put them on because i feel good in streetwear, i feel like im dressed to do things and not to stay at home and rest.
The walk thing... I walk too fast, i always walk like I'm at New York busy all day even if I just have to buy milk. 💀

I use music to help me with my mood. I make sure that I play something I love and that makes me smile. I have made a playlist of songs that do this for me, and getting up and dancing a little bit adds to the boost.

Love the rose gold headphones, Abs! And first let me say I'm so PROUD of you for pivoting and having your full-time career as an Enneagram coach (with workshops, live trainings and merch, oh my!). Every time I receive a newsletter email about your upcoming live trainings, I'm so psyched knowing how FAR you've come (did you think this would be your life when you were messing around doing funny skits 4 years ago?) As someone who wants to be an authorpreneur (author entrepreneur), I'd love a video how-to about becoming my own boss and actionable steps to get there.
I'm a SX / SP 2w3 who definitely sacrificed A LOT for my family and while I love my remote working 9 to 5 job (because my boss is amazing), I really want to cut down on the hours (or the days - three-day weekend, anyone?) so I can focus on my writing (but as an struggling artist knows, writing can't support a family, not unless you're Sarah J. Maas or Leigh Bardugo). I sometimes lament that if I didn't give my all to protect my family, I would've been further in my writing career. But seeing them thrive, I have no regrets. I just don't know how to move forward from here.
What helps me with burnout (apart from solitude and a really good book or a great Spotify playlist) is playing with my 5 year old nephew. Kids are supremely optimistic and have no worries about anything so sitting with him, I feel like I'm gonna be okay and that this too shall pass. My faith is restored and I'm revived. Great video though! Hi Lemon Drop :)

Hi Avi! I LOVE hearing what helps you with burnout. I feel like playing with kids makes you realize how trivial our problems are... and how joyful and exploratory life can be! Thank you for sharing that with us. ♥
Also... NOPE. had no idea this was going to be my life 😂 I couldn't have ever envisioned this, but now that it is my life, I feel so very blessed. Also, thanks for your video suggestion. I will put it in my ideas list.
We are rooting for your journey to AUTHORHOOD!! 🎉

Thank you Abbey, this was soo helpful. I've never had strategies for dealing with these kind of slumps, so I'm going to go and make that list now! Usually for me it's PMDD related, so I often feel kinda powerless to stop it, but thank you for providing me with a way to more actively take control of my mind. This was super insightful!!!!!! Also, I love the atmosphere of this whole video, it's so calming. 🙃

    • @AbbeyHowe
      @AbbeyHowe  5 місяців тому +1

ugh, i have the WORST PMDD so I feel you there. One thing that helps me is marking on my calendar when I will most likely be having PMDD symptoms so I can be proactive when it happens. Also, then it doesn't take me by surprise because I don't feel like "I'm crazy!" I can look at the calendar and say, "This is my body having an intense hormonal reaction... which sucks, but it doesn't mean I am a bad person. Better take care of myself for the next few days!"

If you tend to be introverted, can you move along the introversion and extroversion continuum and become tending to be extroverted?
