- Grab your hiking boots and join me on an exhilarating adventure up the majestic Mt. Baldy in Southern California. This iconic peak, rising 10,064 feet above sea level, offers awe-inspiring vistas and a trail that will push your limits in the best possible way. As we ascend the rugged path, surrounded by towering pines and panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness, the air becomes crisp and invigorating. This is one of the best training hikes you can do in Southern California and one I often use for bigger hikes like Mt Whitney. Let me know what you think in the comments.

I've missed your voice and your videos. You're the reasons i've visited like 10+ places coming from England
What an amazing adventure! Hiking the tallest mountain in Los Angeles County looks like an epic journey.
I really love seeing all the view way up in Mt Baldy people can see Mt San Gorgonio, Mt San Jacinto The Whole Inland Valley area and from the far right I bet hikers can see Downtown Los Angeles far the distance on Mount Baldy but I’m so glad and proud your back making new videos on California Through my Lens man bay the way!
Welcome back :) Tried to do this twice, and something always happened and couldn't. Hoping third time's a charm in the next month or so. This looks amazing. Incredible summit.
I’m just happy to see another video on this channel hehe 😊
And a great one, too 🙌🏽
We did a training hike in northern California to Kaiser Peak which i was told is right around 10,000 feet. In our training for Mt Whitney. We mostly wanted to see if anyone had high altitude sickness. The way we went up really had nowhere to get more water bit we had some at the top and the next day on the way back
Congratulations boys. I love your channel Josh. Been a subscriber for many years.
Before you guys attempt Whitney, you might want to have your friend in the blue shirt watch some videos on how to use Trekking Poles correctly. It’s not the popular method to swing both poles in unison. Using each one individually with each stride of one leg at a time gives you 3 point contact most of the time and not just two point contact with each stride.
Best of luck on Whitney. My son and I hiked Whitney 45 years ago when he was in the Boy Scouts. Cheers.
Good job guys!
I moved out of California 3 Years ago, i visited California this past weekend and was driving back home. As I was driving back home trough Palm Springs and Joshua’s tree I was thinking of your channel and wondering where you been. I got home got on UA-cam and send this video. You made my night. Thanks 🙏🏼
So glad to see you back.
Good hike. I love living in central valley. Western Sierra Mtns are so close by and so many 10k-13k peaks you can tackle any peak at any given time.
I climbed Baldy in 1972 and my hike was not anything like this one. I remember doing the switchbacks up the ski resort areas and on the ridge where there were rails to hang onto and then the summit. It was 6 miles up and 6 miles down. A full day. And there was too much smog to see much on the LA side.
I saw your Mt. Whitney hike already and this hike has amazing views as well!
Incredible scenery and adventure!!
The trails from Manker Flats (Ski Hut, Devils Backbone) are good training hikes but the long trail from Baldy Village always seemed more rewarding to me. Another real good training hike would be San Gorgonio from Forest Falls. Nicely done video, thanks for the winter warning, to many people take Baldy lightly in the winter time.
Yea I agree that those are good options, I just like this one because it is short and steep
Sun hoodies are awesome! Great for exposed areas. The views from Baldy are great. I hope to do it one day. I’ll add it to the list haha. Thanks for sharing
What courage! Thank you for the beautiful images!
Good luck on Mt. Whitney!
Wow great job on this hike. I went to the top of Mt. Baldy via Devil's Backbone. You are so right the hike you did with the crew was much more intense than Devil's Backbone.
What a view! One to add to the list for sure!
It is a tough one but it is beautiful
Did this hike as a training for Mt. Whitney as well! Love this video, keep up the good work man.
Great video and hike- thanks for the tips!
Great video…. Thanks for sharing!
You're channel is Awesome, thank you.
That’s a tough hike for sure!
Say it again
Make sure you have a map ! I went up the devils backbone and got lost going down in between the summit. and ice shack.
You didn’t show the “Notch “ bar and dance hall at the top of the ski lift! I was hoping to see it,my clan and I would go there when I was younger! I don’t know if it’s still there?
Nice, I wish there is a chance in the near future and head to the west coast for a few days.
You guys are beasts!
G`day Steve
My. Baldy is San Bernardino County
Maybe we need a fans and u gathering spot to hike!
몸은 힘들어도 행복해 보이네요! ❤
Big respect to West Valley SAR team and others who help find lost hikers every single year.
Don’t put yourself at risk, and the others that may need to come get you.
Let’s never forget SAR volunteer Timothy Staples, who lost his life in 2019 looking for a lost hiker.
Great video!
If you want it really steep, take the direct trail towards Mt Harwood, bypassing the Ski Hut😉
I'm going to California and want a good introduction to hiking peaks. Is this a good choice?
Great video! I noticed on thehikingguy site it states a parking pass is no longer required, can anyone confirm?
I'm not saying don't descend that way.... But if you descend via the Devil's Backbone, you can get a beer at the top of the ski lift 😅
did you get new microphones or a new camera? voice changed a bit. the voice sounds like a gopro in a dive case with the volume turned up. one of your cameras sounds good but definitely different from 2 months ago.
PCT next ??? 😊
I just did the baldy run to the top on Labor Day. 2nd time
Your videos will def help ensure there is a line from parking lot to the top😂
Did you end up summiting Mt Whitney?
Yep, I got a video on the channel about it
Odd that just down the mountain you've got beaches and surfing.
I do believe this is SanBernardino county not Los Angeles county
It’s in both, check a map. The summit is on the line.
Baldy has the most vertical of all Mountains in all So Cal ski areas. Glad
U weren’t with ur Lollipop friend from Wizard of Oz who talks and looks like a full time grump. Try Mt. Gorgonio on the East side.

Mt. Baldy? Mt. Baldy?? What did Yul Brynner’s wife do on their wedding night.
Norm macdonald: "what did yule brynners wife do on there wedding night?.... mt baldy"
You probably shouldn’t tell people your plans. And share it once you accomplish it.
