- Happy holidays and welcome to our last video from the Ardèche region. Our little trip flew by and all these videos flew by too. In this one we’re hiking to the castle of Pierre Gourde, located some 600 meters high in the Ardèche wilderness. After a long and arduous trek we can finally explore the ruins. We were surprised to see that there was also a town nearby. The castle itself is very much in ruins, though you can still see traces of its glory days. Gunloops, chimneys, windows, … all still bear marks of great stonemasonship. The highest point of the rock is the highest point for many miles around and we felt like we were on top of the world! Thanks for joining us these past weeks in the Ardèche. Next week we have something special to close the year. In January we start with a completely new set of videos!
If you liked the video, then give us a thumbs up and share the castle love with your friends. Comment if you have any remarks or suggestions. If you are interested in tagging along and seeing more of our content, then be sure to subscribe!

Merry Christmas to you both have a lovely New year will be waiting for many new videos ❤xx
Thank you! Happy holidays and a wonderful 2024 to you and your loved ones! ❤️
Great episode. I hiked with a friend to the ruined Ferme du désert or wilderness farmhouse midway up Mont Barral in the Vercors. It was a Huguenot hideout for centuries apparently. Taking sides in the Catholic versus Protestant conflict would be sterile now, but one can't help but admire the tenacity, ingenuity and fortitude that drove the Huguenots to these remote and beautiful eyries.
Awesome, we did not know about that one. You are quite right about the Huguenots. We ask that question a lot when visiting remote sites so high up on the cliffs! How difficult life must have been
Very nice enjoyed watching thank you for posting
Thanks for watching and we wish you happy holidays!
An ancient Chinese poem, “会当临绝顶,一览众山小"。When you reach the top, the surrounding mountains become dwarfs.
That's quite profound! We'll remember that! Happy holidays!
An interesting place! Happy Christmas!
Thanks! Happy Christmas to you too ❤️
Are you sure it's the best place to have a "reveillon", I hope you've got your duvet! Joyeux Noel and Happy New year. Thank's for your video all year long. See you next year.
We feel warm inside whenever we're near a castle! Happy holidays to you!
The site is really romantic with windswept vegetation, ruins, and rocky crags; we can imagine someone writing poetry around there. Is it a new feature, that little dance at the ruins at the end of the video? Cheers!
A little too windy when we were there to write poetry haha. And the dancing is just for when we're feeling particularly silly, won't be a permanent addition 😄👍
