I saw this fight when it actually was live being televised . i was 14 years old at the time almost close to 40 years ago come to think about but as i watch this fight over and over from time to time this 🇨🇺 cubanito perez guy gave hector Camacho sr. problems like Camacho sr. never experienced before in his pro career prior to this fight and many people who even followed boxing from that time period up to now simply forgot this one fight where Camacho sr. was tested in his career by a real proven legitimate contender on the world class less of that time . l mean this 🇨🇺 cuban fighter really gave the 🇵🇷 Puerto rican Camacho sr. problems where this fight could have actually went either way fars the scoring decision was concerned. I watched one of Camacho sr's i own Puerto Rican kind edwin rosario tear into him badly which Camacho sr. was really never the same after that fight and i was at Madison sq. Garden watching that fight live from ringside but again despite the beating rosario gave him in a fight that was controversially scored for Camacho sr. by a close splt decision many like myself forgot a couple years prior that Camacho real bad against cubanito perez in a fight that also could of been a legitimate toss up loss for had they gave this fight to the cuban guy perez who i admit got another sham deal against lightweight champion jimmy paul from my native home city of Detroit where he was based at as a fellow kronk prodigy of tommy hearns but 🇨🇺 cubanito perez should of been a champion off his close fight with jimmy paul. I know perez came to America as youth but i will do more research on him to see if he had amature experience from one of the best school style of combat sports called cuban boxing . but people definitely should remember that he was Camacho Sr's first real live problematic test in the pro boxing ranks long before Edwin rosario , julio Cesar Chavez sr., and the great " tito" Felix trinidad ever Camacho problems 8n the ring that resulted in defeats for Camacho sr. including again the controversial decision over rosario that some many felt rosario deserved.
When camacho fought against chavez and trinidad he wasn't even the shadows of the camacho he used to be Camacho at that time was using cocaine like never before his last big win was against pazienzia after that he went down hill completely
Cubanito is my family. The legend goes that he was robbed this fight and the Paul fight. Cubanito didn't start boxing till arriving to the US in his teens but had street fights in Cuba where he always did well. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

Irleis Cubanito Perez! I was at this fight and most people ringside thought Perez won.
I thought Perez won as well, The judges must not have been counting the body shots that were clearly bothering Camacho
