    Haber is definitely the most complex and mysterious "common" verb that I come across in Spanish. So in-general, for past tense verbs what is used more in Spanish: preterite or imperfect?

    • @SpeakSpanishFaster
      @SpeakSpanishFaster  4 роки тому +11

      I would say the Imperfect is used more but maybe it depends the country. Thanks always for your feedback!

      Speak Spanish Faster Your welcome. The scariest thing is having to memorize the past tenses of irregular verbs like haber, tener, ser, venir, etc. Those verbs are fewer, but they are used a lot.

    I really love the videos! I have been learning Spanish for years now, so I don’t have any problem speaking or understanding it. However, my accent is still quite mixed. Sometimes it’s Spanish, others Mexican, and sometimes Caribbean. I saw your video teaching the Puerto Rican accent, and I think it is definitely the best available right now on youtube. I would really like to see more videos teaching the accent because it’s my favorite, and I hope some day I can sound 100% boricua. If you consider it, it’d be much appreciated!

    I enjoyed your presentation and learned a lot I would like to make a comment that maybe just nitpicking for example I see at least two sentences that could be interpreted in two different ways that is numbers 2 4 and 5. I see the spider as representing danger and hubo would be another answer

    • @willtabacchi1408
      @willtabacchi1408 3 роки тому

      Numbers 4 and 5 are interesting because there seems to be no clear line defining when the past becomes the present. Thus num 4 could have been -Today there were many children in the park (thus habia).
      Num 5 could have been -He said to me that there are 3 plates on the table (thus hay)

      "Dijo" is the 3rd-Person Singular of the preterit of the verb Decir (To Say, To Tell). It translates to the English "he/she said. The "me" in "me dijo" is the 1st person indirect object pronoun; It translates to "to me" in English. When someone says "me dijo" in Spanish, they are saying "He/she said (or told) to me." Yo dijo doesn't really make sense. "yo" is the 1st person pronoun; this is equal to the English "I". The correct pronoun for dijo would be El/Ella/Usted. That said, it's possible you might be mixing it up with the similarly looking "yo digo" which translates to something like "I say(tell)/I'm saying(telling)."

    • @dudeofsteel3118
      @dudeofsteel3118 4 роки тому +4

      If I were to say (me + a conjugated verb), it is the equivalent to saying in English, ( Conjugated verb + me ).
      English: He told me
      Spanish: Me, he told. ( me dijo )
      This is because the way of speaking is different in Spanish, similar to the way Yoda speaks in Star Wars. Different syntax on certain occasions.
      Saying " Yo dijo " would be incorrect because the proper conjugation for yo + decir in the past tense is " YO DIJE ". Dijo means SHE/HE said.
      For a native spanish speaker, saying " yo dijo " is like saying to an english speaker, " I he said "
      Doesn't make much sense.
      Dijo is basically the verb decir (to tell) in the past tense (told), and since you ended it with " dijO " that means he/she said/told.
      Ending it differently would mean different things.
      Me dijiste
      You told me.
      Me dijeron.
      They told me.
      Keep in mind that you can even add the subject pronoun to make the statement more full.
      El me dijo.
      He told me.
      Ella me dijo.
      She told me.
      I hope this helps. : )
