One of the best American films of the 21st century so far. None of the other movies nominated for the Best Picture Oscar that year, and there were some good ones, even came close to this.
I like this film quite a bit and I love Jeff Bridges in anything. He did pretty good with his Texas accent all except for his pronuciation of the Brazos river. If your from Texas you can't help but hear it. It's not "Brah-zoes" and it's not "Bray-zoes". It's "Brazz-zus". It's also no big deal unless you care about accuracy of regional accents.
He is a Ranger, it seems picky but a Sheriff is responsible for the County that elected him. A Ranger is a state employye and his area is the entire state. They are part of the TxDPS and are like the FBI.
There's a deep relationship between the two but Marcus cant communicate the respect he has for his partner and his partner is probably the only person who actually cares about what's going to happen to Marcus after his retirement. The only reason there after Toby and Tanner is it's his way of trying to take Marcus mind off his imminent retirement. When Alberto is killed is the first time Marcus emotions are on full display and the heartbreak and rage over Alberto death is what causes him to decide to avenge him even outside the law he's essentially on a suicide mission when he goes to the ranch he will either kill Toby or likely go to prison for pursuing the matter illegally with the only thing granting him or Toby a brief reprieve is the family arriving and Marcus learning that Toby didn't live there and it's something he needs to work out that Toby didn't do it for himself but his family. It likely won't put off the coming gunfight for long but it's just enough that Marcus will give it some thought and it changed things a bit. When he says my partner had a family ain't no pump jacks in his back yard you can really hear the rage in his voice over Alberto death who was probably the only real friend Marcus had.
"21st century, and I'm racing a fire to the river with some cattle. No wonder my kids don't want to do this shit for a living. Cut that wire." Greetings to Texas from Alberta.
there is a lot of cars buried across this nation, buried under dirt, or at the bottom of rivers, lakes & swamps. i cant imagine going through that trouble for a robbery, but for a murder its sure justified.

It's so good you can feel the West Texas heat . Damn good flick.
There's a quiet appeal to the loneliness and barrenness of the Texas panhandle and ne New Mexico.
Some crazy foreshadowing in that scene with the two partners driving in the car.
One of the greatest movies ever made.

if it had been a Cohen brothers film he would have nailed it.
5:22, no truer word spoken.
Great movie.
The way the Indian Sheriff gets ridiculed is a nice touch, in a way.
It's like The Dude busing Walter's balls.

Law enforcement partners always poke fun at each other. The line about “I’ve seen you shoot…won’t be much glory in it” especially rings true.

I'm not sure how much they are trying to 'raise' by robbing banks BUT that tractor is way over $60 Grand
@@SuperChuckRaney Might be able to get 20-25 grand for it.
Was a great movie.

Yep
Great movie about poor drunk folks. The marshall and the two brothers.
What town was the bank robbery filmed?
I hate it when that happens.
GETAWAY VEHICLES, I WOULD THINK SO *
Is this in the Yellowstone universe? 😂
It was written by Taylor Sheridan
New Mexico
@@silo3comTexas Panhandle.
No sir. The story takes place in west Texas & Oklahoma. Most ,if not all of the film was shot in eastern New Mexico subbing for west Texas.
@@manpurse Isn't that Sheridan at 05:00?
