I heard this song when I was a teen. I forgot about it until yesterday. it popped in to my head! I knew it was Regina Spektor, and I memorized it, but i never knew the name of the song! After 15 years, I finally heard it again! thank you! ❤
its unbelievable how one night I wrote just a word on you tube and I found all Regina`s songs and it was like my life its retailed in her songs ... no no no I am not dreaming :)
true music: The art of arranging sounds in time so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre.
God I love this woman. I still hadn't heard this song and I already enjoy it so much, I love it the most when I can enjoy her voice with nothing else to distract me.
I love this acapella version, hearing it like this I imagine her speaking/singing this rythm/melody on a soap box in a small, chic, indie coffe shop on a Spoken Word night!
I love how all of her songs have a meaning, and how she is obviously not afraid to say what needs to be said. Furthermore, she has the amazing ability to step into a character's shoes and relate what they would feel. As a writer, I hope to someday master this as well as Regina does.
See, you and people like you need to realize that no one will beat your favorites. Just like people like me don't think anyone can beat Regina. There's a perfectly lovely singer for everyone.
Every opinion should be listened to. But saying that not all of her work is good would leave many Regina fans to reconsider. This isn't her best that she has made, but I still think that its still good. After all, half of us would have a hard time make melodies such like this work the way she does. :] thanks for stating your opinion nicely unlike others. I'm listening to it.
I can see how you don't completely LOVE all of her songs, because she has such a large variety of styles. Unless you have the SAME EXACT taste in music that Regina does. I love almost all of her songs, but I see where you're coming from.
so im obsessed with regina spektor. ......so yeah right now im in love with you for putting up all of these songs i've never heard before. so. thank you for existing. :]
I've got alot of stuff going on at the moment and sometimes i get stressed about it. I'm sitting here writing, wondering if i'll ever be able to publish anything and i put on this song and it calms me down and makes me smile :) thanks Regina!
@@rikzzr7664 well since then i got into writing songs and ive actually put a few of those out on here and yeah feeling a little silly about it now. Thank you that was so sweet your comment made my day
She's putting out this brand new album full of new songs and producing older ones and still there are ones like this still unreleased. I have a feeling she'll include all her material eventually. Boy I wonder how many albums that'll take. Especially with new ones all the time too. She should put out a double or a triple and name it only Regina Spektor in solid pink, and we'll all nickname it the Pink album. Huh?:) You with me folks? :) And pink goes good with cute and beautiful. Just an idea :)
my landlord knew margaret atwood, she used to live up the street from me. because regina sings about her, that someone makes me feel closer to regina haha. looove her.
That's an amazing idea! she's so pink. I love her... soo... much... seeing her in toronto on sept. 16th! so excited, except scared, Im definately going to be crying. Im a loser.
@rocktunes yeah she is! she sings about oedipus, samson and evin alludes to the little prince in baobabs. i'm not certain what literary work this song refers to. what is it? she's friggin' amazing!
Maybe it's just me but I think this song is feminist. She talks about leaving Paris (and thus all of the art, culture, opportunity, life, etc) for a boy who lectures her like an "obedient child" ... and the lines about comforting herself in her next life is ironic because she uses the dubious future as an escape rather than taking advantage of the present. References to Atwood and Woolf are examples of strong women who the narrator doesn't heed. I think she's saying don't sacrifice yourself for love.
does anybody know this song of her that used to be on youtube, with a kinda homemade video with a pretty girl in it.. (not regina).. i can remember very little about it, but i remember finding it a wonderful song.. i forgot the title and i can't find it anywhere.. her voice has very much vibration and she sings a lot of strange words.. can anybody please tell me the name of the song?
The only problem is that I can handle 2 addictions at the same time :( But I'll have to say, that while I smoke like one pack of cigs every three to four days, I smoke about 3 packs of Regina every day. So I guess that's a start. :) Good suggestion.
i figured out how everyone who smokes can quit.....first....put out that smoke.....then when ya feel like another.....listen to a song by Regina.....and you'll get addicted to her instead....hopefully like i did....is she really from earth?...or from heaven.....

If she has a kid they will get to fall asleep to the beautiful voice of a lyrical genius.

I love the fact that one of my idols mentions another one of my idols, "Virginia Woolf, she could not stop me!"

maybe only Regina Spektor who can sing without music... and still sounds so damn beautiful !!

regina spektor is the only singer who can sing without anything else but a snap here and there and make it sound beautiful!!!
See, I like this.
I like the acapella stuff of it.
Its hard to sing without music.
And she does it well =]

I just fell in love SO HARD.
I agree with you !
A-a-awe-some!
(In the style of Regina Spektor in the song Us when she sings the chorus!)
she's simply entertaining..=)...

@xanfus Regina Spektor, of course.
This is amazing! Where did you find this?
Fidelity
@sillysillyface you have a very beautiful life soundtrack!
but who would win in a fight between Margaret Atwood and Virginia Woolf?
@stafy13 Yes, I thought that instantly.
Turn on youtube's audio captions on this song. The "lyrics" it gives are hilarious.
vair awsome ^.^
i love her songs that have no music =D
tho she dus get a lil repetitive occasionally ';]

Linklinklink: I noticed M. Atwood in this song: Variations on the word 'sleep'...
@PetrovMendicant you're right they are funny :D

Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t
What is the time signature of this music?
Kenny Hsu 6/8 ? Don't quote on that tho. It has a weird time signature.

This song could almost be called "A Defense of Romance."
@xanfus Virginia Woolf totally would.
the lyrics to me are like Revolutionary Road but altered a bit
sept16 is my birthday! :o) just saying.
@guineapiggyman and both of them aren't regina spektor.
RESPEKT!
*Singing home alone like an idiot.*
