My guild is just about to take this for the first time, so don't really know what to expect. In your video you are running relic this and relic that. Does this kind of strategy (just hitting auto) still work out if you're not running relic 8 mod level 6 characters?

In a comparative way yes. The strats don't change per relic level but the score will of course be lower due to thresholds

I tried this strategy for the most recent raid my guild had VS just throwing 3 strongest units in a mono team type (rebel, imps, ewoks, etc) and hitting auto. I scored lower :/
