    I started using a Vevor freezer for forestry work so I can have ice cream sandwiches and smoothies (with a ninja USB blender) in the middle of the day. It's a complete game changer! I come out the the cut block hot and grumpy and wanna go home, then get a complete reset and I'm ready for more! It lasts around 6 hours at -22C on a tiny power station, and runs on a cigarette lighter plug while I'm driving.

    I had one until I sold my Class B earlier this spring. Very reliable, low power draw and quiet. I still have an ARB 12V fridge/freezer but got the BougeRV model since the ARB was starting to run the compressor too often compared to the past use. Yes, all the fins were cleaned and the compressor section blown out.

    Thanks for the update...we have been wondering how you are making out with it....Also, every time you raised a crab trap, we experienced anticipation like unwrapping Christmas presents. You both made it fun.. Once again, your video and music compositions are beautiful as are many of your destinations. Keep up the great travel sharing. Us old folks love it Kudos!

    I had to laugh when you said a real hot day of 27. On some summer nights that is our minimum. I have 2- 50L plastic fridges. One is freezer only and the other one is a fridge. The fridge pulls about 3 A. And the freezer just a little bit more. They run all the time with the 200 amp power lithium and a 250 W solar

    They are a great economical little fridge. All the plastic fridges seem to be rebadged from suppliers but look identical. My 55qt alpicool dual zone is awesome. I'm very happy with my purchase. I did add a couple of layers of reflectix under the cover as there doesn't seem to be any insulation in it. Everything freezes solid now, and I keep the freezer at 23F and fridge at 34F.

    Fyi. If your rv fridge is a 3 way and is a absorption fridge the 120v side only pulls 1 amp. If your rig has a inverter on board plug the fridge in to that and set the fridge to 110 mode. Thats how i use mine while traveling. My jeep has a 110v 2 amp converter built in and its fine.

    I am always baffled how many people are still preferring 3-way fridges. I am using a 50Liter Dometic fridge/freezer. That thing runs 24/7/365 for 10 years now and never gave me any trouble. The absorption 3-way fridges start working against themselves when temperatures go above 25 °C (especially in RVs with limited ventilation around the fridge) and basically become useless, while burning through tons of propane. Like you mentioned, battery operation is inefficient and VERY hard on batteries with a 3-way. In contrast my Dometic produces ice cubes at 30°C without breaking a sweat! I have to admit that a Dometic doesn't come cheap. A 50 Liter fridge/freezer these days is more than 3 times what you paid for your Bouge. But when I hear the ice cubes clinking in my margarita while I am watching whales, I feel that was money well spent!
    Long story short: For off grid camping only compressor refrigeration!

    I'm curious, is your storage compartment have vents to let the heat out ( possibly add air flow while driving) and also should you insulate the compartment since the sun bearing down on the side will superheat the compartment making the fridge work harder.

    For all my American friends, an easy math formula to translate Celsius to Fahrenheit; Degree Celsius times 2 and add 30 to the total. 20 celsius times 2 equal 40 plus 30 equal 70 Fahrenheit

    • @wallytimmins356
      @wallytimmins356 6 днів тому

      @ericlaurin Once you hit 15 Celsius the Fahrenheit temp starts to come down. So your 20 Celsius would be about 67 degrees. But it is the fastest and best way I've done it for years. I don't worry about the couple degrees. As long as I'm close. Thought this might be helpful to our U.S. friends.
