The TH has the more distinctive tone. I wish v2 featured a compressor, a control for blending between clean and distorted tone, and a high pass filter that variably swept how much low end gets distorted. Aguilar being owned by Korg along w/Darkglass, it wouldn't have been hard to incorporate Darkglass tech into v2.
I like them both, used to own a tone hammer and liked it, but I like the AG500 better, the AG500 almost reminds me of what I use now “Genzler Magellan”
@@amanisax5630 no I actually have an old SWR Goliath III cab that I love, but I have plugged the Genzler head into other cabs as well, and it always sounds full, wide, precise, clean, warm and modern. I also have the Genzler Magellan DI box/pedal , as well, and lately have been using that allot, it does Vintage and Modern, with a great EQ, very clean sounding, and its convenient as I don’t have to bring the head or cab with me, and the sound guys love it too, they like the sound of the Genzler stuff better than my old tone Hammer, they say it sounds cleaner , fatter and more Modern, but don’t take me wrong Agulair Stuff is top notch stuff, love their stuff , but I just like Genzler a little more.

Truly, if you stick with Aguilar or Genzler , you really can’t go wrong with either one. Both of those brands have been a great replacement for my old SWR Workmans head, too bad it shorted out long time ago, and they don’t make them anymore, that’s always the sound I have in my head and both of these brands get me very similar type of sounds .
Genzler seems to be criminally overlooked by a lot of people. Yeah, their stuff is expensive but also extremely good. I would really love to hear @deadbeatstudios opinion in them.
The Drive control on the TH is not an overdrive. It's a confusingly named tone control that gives a broad bump in the midrange. It's really voiced to be a vintage speaker emulator ... something sealed (rolled off lows) and tweaterless (rolled off highs).
The amps weren’t the issue. The basses were: only the Sterling had useable tone. Walk both other basses into any professional studio and they’ll have you put them back in the car. You didn’t test bassamps, but showed us issue basses instead.
Thanks for the video! To be honest, though, I really prefer the first gen AG and Tone Hammer from all the videos I’ve heard so far. Both of the new models seem to lack the bottom end of their predecessors.

The AG is best for me! I can do my own coloring. Clean! SL 212 (Jazzman) Lounges, Dinner Clubs....
You can buy one or the other and then buy the preamp pedal of there other amp.and basically have both. I like the AG500 best
