Obviously she was raised with love. Can’t imagine the pain she and her original parents were going through. I don’t for one second blame them. The cost of such things is immense. All those saying “you shouldn’t have a pet if you can’t afford it”, this is not a usual cost, but an extravagant one. It’s easy to judge from the outside. I’m happy it all worked out. My girl gives this two paws up (and then eats the bacon off the counter)

@Sobaka The Husky Years ago my husky was in a accident , I took him to the emergency room and had to use 3 c cards to cover his 2 day stay. I then had to transfer him to a regular vet for continue of treatment for a week. I explained my finances to the vet and they put me on a payment plan.
I cut my expenses to the bone to pay it off ( I could have bought a brand new car for what that one accident cost me).
I have not regretted it for one second and would do it again. My boi crossed over the rainbow bridge at the age of 15
      P.S. Sobaka is beautiful !!

Juneau doesn't act like she was abused. It's likely that the previous owners couldn't afford the surgery, not that they were bad people who didn't love and care for their dog. I rescued a dog that was tied next to my car. It was dying and I'm sure the previous owners knew it. She clearly wasn't ever abused so it's more likely that they knew that I would save her because they couldn't afford the vet bill and save her themselves. And the first vet told me that I should just euthanize her. I took her to my regular vet and they saved her life. Neither vet gave me a discount though even though I rescued the dog. Rescuing dogs isn't cheap...

@@cindykauffman8294 Unfortunately, many just can't afford to buy pet insurance. The reason why so many pets end up in the shelters or abandoned around here is because people simply couldn't afford to care for their pets. Our shelters have tried giving pets away but they just can't find enough people who will adopt and empty their cages. I personally rescued all of my dogs, all of which were abandoned. 2 had been badly abused and one was dying from a digestive tract blockage. And those are only the rescues that I've kept. @Cindy Grajales You should always check that everything that the vets recommend is absolutely necessary whenever possible. Vets will often recommend stuff that your pets don't really need. And if they tell you that you need to buy specialty food that only they stock, you might want to get a 2nd opinion...
I have 2 dogs that are terrified of having their nails cut. It's always a traumatic experience when I have to take them in for this procedure. I'm usually there to try to comfort my dogs when the staff is cutting their nails, but last time, they decided to do it without my help. He said that it was a wrestling match with my first dog. He came out with dog poop all over his shirt after doing my 2nd dog. That probably could have been avoided if I had been there to help...
Vets deal with challenging pets like mine all the time. I doubt that they'll increase your charge if your cat struggles against his vaccine. It seems like they're already making a decent profit off of them. They're not cheap...

So I'm curious as to why you think """poor""" people shouldn't have pets.
Would you rather they abandoned them on the side of the road like some people do?
We don't know that they didn't give her food. That's not in the video at all. That's either just an assumption you made or you're intentionally lying.

The former owners aren't necessarily negligent. Maybe the family couldn't afford surgery. People fall on hard times, there's a pandemic and people are losing their jobs left and right. Also, maybe the dog is so skinny because she didn't have an appetite from being ill (repeated collapsed lung?).

A collapsed lung would make it extremely difficult to eat. I don't fault the previous owners because they decided her life was more important than her being theirs.

Exactly. When an animal becomes ill they often don't eat like "normal". Hell we had a black lab that seemed to be literally part goat--he'd eat anything in his reach that remotely seemed like food. One hot summer he wasn't eating as much (not unusual for him with summer). But there were little puke spots all over my multi-pet house. Finally figured out it was him. One day he puked up a part of, then the rest of, a 4 inch foam center squeaky ball he'd swallowed. Whole. How that dog didn't get super sick I'll never know but he was just fine after that.

Yea… but what I don’t understand is why these families can’t get help from some of the organizations that end up paying for the surgery. I have a little rescue that my ex and I share custody of and he hurt his back leg, so I took him to a vet that was opened on the weekends and they wanted over 2000 for X-rays and a surgery to repair his hip. I couldn’t afford it. Their solution was for me to give him up and they would cover the cost….. I said NO. I went to cash out for the vet visit and they had the audacity to ask me to contribute to a pets in need program that helps pets who owners don’t have the funds…. I asked if I could apply for it and they said no.
Took him to our regular vet that Monday and it was a bruise leg where he was jumping around and playing so much. 50 bucks and a few pain pills and he was good as new. Called the other place and asked for my money back and they gave it to me.
I just wish we did better when it comes to our animals health and helping those who need it while keeping their furbaby home with their families.

As I see it, a charity could help out with the veterinary costs, but rehoming the dog is the wrong thing to do. It's a penalty imposed on the family to make sure they regret being poorer. It has nothing to do with helping the dog to get better.

Owning a dog is expensive, especially if it gets sick and needs treatment, that much should be clear for anyone deciding whether or not to buy a dog. It is a living being you are bringing into your home, and that you are committing to taking care of for the rest of it's life, so if you can ONLY afford that commitment if your pet remains in good health for the entirety of it's life, do NOT buy a pet, because they might NOT remain in good health for the entirety of their life. In fact, they probably won't. @FurnitureFan 3 роки тому

@@sarah4hp Yes, certainly if the dog is only bought as a guard dog, and chained outside, then there's no such bond, and the dog will be better off with loving people. But if the dog will pine for its home and family, and feels loyalty for them all, then the dog will suffer if someone doesn't help the family with costs. I believe that when people donate to a charity for the purpose of helping dogs, they will have considered all of that. Honestly, I wouldn't object to a charity helping out a family that the dog loves and feels safe with. Not when the alternative is to take the dog away because of money. I feel that's a legitimate purpose for any charity. When I was younger, we had a rescue dog whose owner was too sick to take care of him, and when we walked him, we always went to visit her. He never forgot to bring us to her house to greet her. He accepted that he lived with us, but he did need to check on her too.

      @sarah4hp 3 роки тому +1

@@FurnitureFan I don't disagree that it is sad when someone has to give up their dog because they can't afford to take care of it, because obviously the dog bonds with it's owners in a very real way if they are good to it and treats it well. That being said, I can't agree that a charity should pay for treatment on the owner's behalf as that is in no way a lasting solution. Help the dog, get it healthy and ready for a forever home, and then find the dog a home with owners that will be able to care for it going forward. Sending the dog back to owners that can't properly care for it due to them not having the necessary finances to do so, will only result in the charity having to pay all future vet bills for the dog for the rest of it's life, and then being unable to help new dogs that needs it as all the funds are going to all the dogs that were sent back to owners who remain unable to pay the vet bills.
It is a sad fact that owning a dog is very expensive, especially if they get seriously ill, so if veterinary care isn't something you can afford dog ownership is not something I feel you should enter into. • @rookiequasar5763

Curb your entitlement, not everyone can afford intensive surgeries. Not for themselves, not for their pets. They do their best to take care of their animals but folks can’t always pay THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for treatments that could be significantly less expensive or be afforded through charities... if those charities existed and were common knowledge/access. I don’t have any charities or services like that in my area that’s for sure. I do my best to take care of my pets and have a bit of money saved up for their care, but if my mom lost her job? If I lost my job? If we lost our house? If we had to move or pay for important things and suddenly our pet has a medical crisis, we’d be in huge trouble. I might not be able to afford surgery- even with stretching credit and savings and installation payments. We’re not poor. Medical care is fucking expensive. My mom and I have insurance but even going for a checkup seems to rack up the bills far more than we can handle with rising property taxes and inflation. It is out of our control. Do you think we should be shamed for this? If my senior cats got ill and we were already in a bad spot as it was, and all we can afford to do is make their final days peaceful and soft and full of love? To say goodbye because someone else’s prices are so steep or because luck was not on our side?
If the owners were actively neglecting their animal even with the resources to help them, then you can talk smack. If not, and you just don’t care enough to share a clue as to the true nature of this incident, you have no right to act all high and mighty. Disgraceful, this is. I’m glad the dog was able to recover but man- you completely took the wind out of my sails with that attitude and no real idea for what the owners were like personally. Mind yourself before you speak.

This hit close to home. 15 years ago we loss our last beloved dog because we could not afford vet care. I was 14 at that time, this dog was given to me and my brother by our godmother. We absolutely loved him and took care of him the best way we can. My mom was so devastated because she blamed herself for losing him since she was not able to take him to the vet. We were so helpless. He seemed fine and playful then one day he just stopped eating and the next morning my mom found him dead. We were at school and she called us that we need to get home asap, she waited for us so we can see him one last time. It was so fast. Looking back I wish we have him now that we are already grown ups and have money of our own so we don’t have to worry paying their care anymore. That was our last dog, my mom swore she’ll never have another one. It was too heartbreaking.
