🆘IMPORTANT CORRECTION:🆘 The reason the SA2 is taking so long to power on and start playing sound in the tests is because it is, out of the box, set to always go in deep standby where everything is powered down to conserve power. Like this, the amp uses below 0,5 watts in standby. The Wiim and Bluesound amps in my tests do not do this out of the box which is why they start playing sound much more quickly. But this also means they use 3-4 watts all the time, even when in 'standby'... SA2 also has this feature of being "always on" - it can be enabled by holding the left button on the remote for 5 seconds until the amp blinks once. (This is stated in the quick start guide) Now the amp will not power down the Play-Fi module when in standby, so you can get the same 1-2 second power on as you see on the other amps.
Thanks! What 1000$ streamer amplifier would you buy to pair with a pair of Quad S1 speakers , for around 1000$? I have the Quad Vena 1, amazing sound but it started hissing, has no Airplay, and and bluetooth was never reliable - I want something hifi with Airplay that just works.
@@Iuckylukey Thanks for the support! I’ve decided to go with the Marantz M1. Yes, it’s the most expensive option, but the sound quality is on another level - Marantz really nailed it with this one. My second choice would be the Wiim Amp, which also supports AirPlay 2, just like the Marantz. Unfortunately, the new Wiim Amp Pro doesn’t support it, which is a bit disappointing.
Thanks for a great review. I just wanted to add that my Argon Audio SA2 with Samsung The Frame 2023 starts playing in about 12-13 seconds after HDMI wakeup. They're going to be pretty much the same in terms of features. Denon is going to sound a bit more forward but that's pretty much it. @@Niceaux_B the ceol n12 is great if you want the added cd player feature but the amp section of the new home amp is quite strong if it's anything like the M1 and can make a big diff in big rooms or with less efficient speakers. Always great to have choices.
@@TopperDude Yeah fully agree. I have this idea that people in the market for the Home Amp don't have the largest of rooms or the most difficult to drive speakers. That can be me.
