Living in Spain I've grown accustomed to hearing and even liking trap beats, the Spanish ones. This drummer here covers something I did realise eventually myself, that being the utilising of certain roll rudiments to help recreate the busy hi hat stuff programmed in the style. What he has done way better than me though is his explanation of the attention to the quality of your execution of the rolls and also the technique best used to recreate such rhythms. I learned from this personally on that note, thanks for the share

Also paradiddles between hi hats and snare will create a great break intro

I feel the aggressive stare the hihat gets whenever one plays fast trap! x)

Great lesson! If ya wanted to take it a step further you can focus on accenting the 2nd note in the double stroke roll, this compensates for the force of the wrist accenting the 1st note.

Nice... Also fun to do the 5 stroke: RLRRL LRLLR - you can get some funky grooves that way and interesting fills.

I ended up becoming a session drummer somehow without any formal instruction. My body just learned good technique and I have no clue why. I'm not the best drummer in the world- my main instruments are voice, guitar, drums and piano. I have had only a year of vocal coaching and two years of guitar when I was younger- but that was all the guidance I needed and I believe this is true for everyone too!!
