All these years later, my omnath deck slaps people upside the head and is an unstoppable machine. Thank you guys for this from the bottom of my heart, I wouldn’t be here without you ❤️
For some reason I wanted to look up this video again. I bought the exact deck you guys showcased many years ago. I’m not using too many of the cards here anymore, but because of you guys, I found my favorite deck of all time. I know this is super late, but I appreciate the effort you guys put into this video all those years ago.
Top 5 spend a little more cards: 1. Caged Sun 2. Zendikar Resurgent 3. Vernal Bloom 4. Primordial Hydra 5. Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury Also Think If your playgroup has no land removal rule, then think about the combo of druids that untap a land with land enchantments where you get an extra mana for each tap (wild growth). you could have say 5 druids and 5 enchantments on a land (producing 6 a tap) = 6 taps a turn X 6 mana per tap = 36 mana a turn.
Holy crap, this deck is awesome! 30 dollars? I was expecting 100-200! This is a great channel and a great series, very informative and well thought out. Keep it up!
I just started playing edh and magic not to long ago. and every person I meet has this awesome, great, synergistic commander deck. They look awesome, but when I hear how much they spent on their decks I think I nearly fainted. I want to get into EDH because it looks so fun, but I just don't have the money to spend on an expensive deck that I might not like, or doesn't perform as well as I wanted it to. Looking at this deck list, and even better its price, I feel like I can build this without fearing regretting my decision, and just enjoy my time playing. I really love what this channel is doing.
You are 100% right, we also love the game but were not too excited about dropping $1,000 on cardboard for one deck. We think these decks will hold their own against those expensive decks.
A friend sent me this link because I have an Omnath EDH and it is amazing how quickly it gets out of hand, instead of tokens I rely on fight to clear my enemies, equipment that gives him flight, trample, shroud and indestructible so I am target number one when he comes out ^_^ I love my Omnath, next will be my Omnath Locust of Rage deck lol
Great video guys! I love playing my Omnath deck. I got some really good ideas from the video. Seed born Muse and Kalonian Hydra are amazing in this deck even though they aren't budget.
currently building a Memnarch deck. Got some free cards which left me with some spare cash. And I've had this omnath sitting around for a while . . . . I think I'm gonna have to run this into the ground. the ground being my playgroups various faces hahaha! great list!! I built your narset list ( with a few more pricy additions) for my friend and he refuses to even attempt another EDH deck because he loves it so much!
Probably this gonna be my first commander Deck...someday :D....Because i always wanted to make a Treegolk/sprolin themed deck with a OBSCENE quantity of mana.... I really love this channel
Thanks +Franco Alessandro Marchetti! Glad you enjoy the videos :). Well if you like mana then Omnath is your guy, it's not unusual to have 15 mana in your mana pool, attacking with a 16/16 commander and then casting everything from your hand in the second main phase...aahhh good times.
Thanks alot for doing this, this is the first of your decks that i bought and although it isnt complete yet (10 cards are still on their way) it plays great and seems to be ideal for starters like my gf or friends that know only the basics of magic
Really good stuff guys, congratulations! As for the game play I know that you guys know cloneheads and I really like his style of game plays, so maybe something like what he does but with budget decks? :)
What do you guys think abbout adding one last section to every video, an upgrades section, where you cover some upgrade cards you think are priority upgrades that lead the deck to the next level, but do not necessarily fit the 1 dolar rule. After building my Lazav, Edric, Rafiq and Rakdos I'm having lots of fun upgrading the decks, I know that this can be subjective, and it's better to each person fine tune their own decks, so my suggestion is that you guys just give a guideline. Thx, can't wait for the new content!
Thanks for the suggestion +Philippe Ferreira. We have thought about this but we don't do it for two main reasons. We are not experts at which non-budget cards are good and it would take a lot of extra time to also create a list of extra cards next to the ones already in the deck. Sorry :/
great video guys, im going to buiild this deck as a start, then im going to upgrade it with better cards from time to time. keep the good stuff going :)
If I want to get fatties out I play braids (I hate playing mono-green) plus people like me helping them out. Then I can use clones to copy their big expensive bombs so I don't have to pay the big money for a blightsteel colossus ulamog vorinclex. As well as have access to leviathans and krakens and general blue shenaniganry. For your next commander maybe tasigur or gwafa hazid. Or maybe take a look at a budget modern deck or even just a casual deck. Keep doing what you're doing seeing a video from you guys in my sub box makes my day.
Sounds like you have the right strategy for building awesome budget decks. We are busy with budget modern now so that is on it's way soon. We will make a note of your additional suggestions ;).
I'm new to EDH. so when I saw this card I was a little confused on omnath ability. And of course since I'm a little off of EDH I realize wow I have a commander I can use lol. Super thanks for all the extra tools for making a affordable deck. I'm gunna see what I can do with what I have. And maybe use what you suggested to... Amp it up. Again it's affordable.
Please do videos of suggestion on how to build an EDH deck on a commander. Ex: what cards would you suggest for a deck around Liliana, Heretical Healer?
We love this suggestion. This could be a series explaining the basics of building a commander deck and specifically how to build certain archetypes. Perfect!
Good question +James Willett. We test out the decks against other decks in the budget series at least twice by different people. Which means a deck will have been played at least 50 times before we are confident enough to do a deck tech on it.
We will be doing a reanimator deck +Thomas Geale. Not sure if it will be Sheoldred as she comes out so late and can be easily removed. But we will make one ;).
We think you will find that card is more at home in the Rhys the Redeemed deck +Levi Feijen. What if you draw it and you don't also have a token producer? Rhys makes much better use of Doubling season than Omnath ever could. Just our experience though.
what do you think about playing dictate of karametra in this deck? it could help a lot to finish our opponent (of course we don't want to play it always, but if our opponent has no cards in hand this can't help him too much), if you play two turns with this and you have an evasion for omnath you almost won the game I suppose.
We contemplated including it in the deck +francesco zebrastabber. But the ramp cards are also super important in this deck when you getting started and not only when you can finish your opponent. The fact that this card also helps your opponents was simply a risk we didn't want to take, so it didn't make the cut.
This looks great deck but you can put also do primal order in it because if you're opponent play a multi colored deck then come there pretty much non-basich lands and that means very much damage each turn
It's true +Levi Feijen that that card will do plenty of damage. However the question is whether the card has synergy with what this deck wants to do (mana ramp). We think you will find that pumping Omnath with extra green mana is more powerful than just a bit of extra damage a turn. However, that's just our humble opinion.
I have a few cards that could be good in this deck. I was wondering if they would do well in the deck, and what I would sub them in for: Courser of Kruphix + Nykthos, shrine to Nyx+ Astral cornucopia
Hi +Nathan Olson, we would add the courser instead of a ramp card. Nykthos instead of a basic land and Nissa...not sure, but definitely include her if you can :D
We didn't even know Library of Leng existed! Thanks for that +weaverst. The card draw is actually not insane so we would not include it. we just want as many cards to give us green mana which neither of those cards do.
Soooo, I'm fairly new to Magic the gathering, i'm doing some "classic 60 cards deck" games with friends. I'm trying do build a mono-green "wurm" deck (with "Engulfing Slagwurm, Elderscale wurm, palakka wurm and the wurm you used too (forgot his name), the intimidate one). My biggest problem is that i never have the time to have enough mana for those big cards, do you think that some of your 1 mana/2 mana cards will and Omnath will help ? :) I'm looking for some advice :p. Great video btw !
The key to playing expensive spells like the wurms is threefold. 1: low cost mana ramp (i.e. rampant growth) 2: Early defense (i.e Deadly recluse) 3: Removal (Prey upon). Also don't go overboard on the Wurms as you only need a few to win your game.
Wurm decks are tricky, but you can build it as long as you have cheap mana ramp cards and some cheap deathtouchers (deadly recluse) to protect yourself early game until you have enough mana to cast the Wurms. We do not recommend Omnath in Modern.
Budget elf is tricky +Steel Dom. The reason why is because the good tribal elf cards are all being used in modern so the price gets hiked up a bit too much to make effective budget decks. But we will have a look anyway ;).
Hi +bdaddy23, sorry but we only deal with budget cards. If you want non budget help here are loads of better channels and websites which can help you without restrictions.
+bdaddy23 Back when I played Omnath, doubling cube was an all-star. Run cards that give creatures flash in case your opponents destroy Omnath on their turns, and since mana is still their until end of turn, you can just quickly flash Omnath back into the game, so you don't lose that mana. Hope that helps!
Just a quick addition, mana empties at the end of each phase not just at then of the turn. So if Omnath gets killed during combat you have to flash cast Omnath again during combat to make use of the floating mana.
im confused on omnaths ability. so you tap the forest, and it goes to your pool and stays there because of him. does untapped mana that becomes tapped to cast spells stay on your pool too, or does it leave because its being spent? and you DO in fact need to tap your lands?
I feel like you should do a game play video on all your commander decks. And when making them after each video ask if we like the way you edited, camera angles, and sound volume. Then just try to think a different way to do it and try it out until you get it right. Too many full edh games are shot one specific way that takes away from the play of the game. Example (mtgmuddsta) he is the one I like the most but at the same time we miss out on all the politics and banter in the middle of the game. Last Friday it was me and one other guy and his deck went off and hit me for 40k while about 10 other people watched. The reaction of their face was funny. And no hard feeling towards him the week before I killd him 😁
Hi +Zalrok1, you can get Omnath for $7 but more likely you wil have to pay $10. Please don't pay four times as much for him...he's good, but not that good!
At the end of each commander video you get to see who the next commander will be. So the answer will be revealed to you at the end of the Omnath video...:P
Hi Dr Necro! We should have done it before we hit 5,000. We will make a video where people can ask questions in a couple of weeks. Sorry for the delay!
+Max Br Ooh, you're right, my bad. That is really disappointing. Guess that's why it's important to have cards like Yeva, Nature's Herald in this build and/or Aluren if you have a bit more in the budget.
All these years later, my omnath deck slaps people upside the head and is an unstoppable machine. Thank you guys for this from the bottom of my heart, I wouldn’t be here without you ❤️
Please make a very long gameplay with this deck! I love it from the looks of it, and I would love to see it in action!
For some reason I wanted to look up this video again. I bought the exact deck you guys showcased many years ago. I’m not using too many of the cards here anymore, but because of you guys, I found my favorite deck of all time. I know this is super late, but I appreciate the effort you guys put into this video all those years ago.
I'd gladly watch a 30 minutes video showcasing the deck, I love it! Great work guys, subscribed :)
We are very happy to hear that +TheAmazingArgi25. Let us know what you think of our other videos too.
Top 5 spend a little more cards:
1. Caged Sun
2. Zendikar Resurgent
3. Vernal Bloom
4. Primordial Hydra
5. Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury
Also Think If your playgroup has no land removal rule, then think about the combo of druids that untap a land with land enchantments where you get an extra mana for each tap (wild growth). you could have say 5 druids and 5 enchantments on a land (producing 6 a tap) = 6 taps a turn X 6 mana per tap = 36 mana a turn.
I know this is two years later but there is also Doubling cube, and nykthos, shrine to nix
Holy crap, this deck is awesome! 30 dollars? I was expecting 100-200! This is a great channel and a great series, very informative and well thought out. Keep it up!
Thanks +Gordon Hewitt, we appreciate the complement!

MyAverageLife01 use proxies to try out stuff until you find something you like, then slowly build it
A friend sent me this link because I have an Omnath EDH and it is amazing how quickly it gets out of hand, instead of tokens I rely on fight to clear my enemies, equipment that gives him flight, trample, shroud and indestructible so I am target number one when he comes out ^_^ I love my Omnath, next will be my Omnath Locust of Rage deck lol
this MUST BE my first commander deck, after this i will build one from scratch.
for the playtest video, i love the idea of Kill As Fast As Possible
Awesome Mark! Omnath can score early kills easily :). Let us know what you plan to build from scratch.
I love this deck! I'll make this deck! Thanks for the deck bro!
No sweat +Nicholas Marcello, enjoy bro!
Great video guys! I love playing my Omnath deck. I got some really good ideas from the video. Seed born Muse and Kalonian Hydra are amazing in this deck even though they aren't budget.
True +Alex Pauls, those are some awesome cards, have fun tweaking and adjusting the deck to your taste!
currently building a Memnarch deck. Got some free cards which left me with some spare cash. And I've had this omnath sitting around for a while . . . . We love messages like this! Thanks!
Thanks for this great video. Your channel is awesome. Keep on going!
Thanks for taking the time to complement us +Maximilian Hadwiger! We appreciate it :D.
Yay! One more deck to spend my money on hehe. You guys are awesome
Hehe thanks! We think it will be money well spent!

No sweat! Glad you like it ;). They do indeed play quite simply, but still have depth enough for more experienced players to have fun with them.
I really enjoyed this video! I'm really glad I discovered this channel. Look forward to more content. :3
Thanks +CodyRockLee13! It's really awesome to hear such positive feedback ;).
Really good stuff guys, congratulations! As for the game play I know that you guys know cloneheads and I really like his style of game plays, so maybe something like what he does but with budget decks? :)
Hi +Willian Mates, thanks and we will be coming with something similar but a bit more accessible for beginners.
awesome video, just starting magic. really wanna try this deck out! 5-10 mins for the video.
Roger that +Total Transformation. Let us know how it handles in your playgroup :D
I got this deck list and I am very impressed by it
Why thank you +TheLightindarkness2, have you had the chance to play it in your playgroup?
yes and it and a spin on your rafiq deck are my main decks they work real well and i enjoy them immensely tbh all my wins are playing those decks
That's awesome! We are very happy to hear they work well in your playgroup...although the rest of your opponents might disagree :P

edhrec.com
Yeah, I know I'm not the only one "smart" that thought about the card, but... Oh my gosh, Gaea's Cradle. That would be creepy here :]
We would probably just sell Gaea's Cradle and buy 4 complete commander decks :D
great video guys, im going to buiild this deck as a start, then im going to upgrade it with better cards from time to time. keep the good stuff going :)
That's an excellent idea! Super fun to customize it to your play style and really make it your own.
If I want to get fatties out I play braids (I hate playing mono-green) plus people like me helping them out. I hope you guys make a Golgari EDH Deck owo
It's in the works! We hope to get it out to you soon!
Huzzah!
Ok the Golgari deck did not function as expected so we have to start from scratch again +sideways137. Sorry for the delay.
It's okay! Love the feedback~
Thank you!
Lol at “a stupid amount of mana” 🤣🤣🤣 it’s so true and always ends up that way
Love the deck techs :)
Im up for the full gameplay!
Noted thanks!
I would like to see a braids conjurer adept budget deck.
That sounds like a group hug deck if I ever heard of one! Very interesting, we will add it to our to do list ;)
I think the gameplay video should be at least half an hour. Maybe you could play other decks featured on this channel at the table as well
I'm new to EDH. so when I saw this card I was a little confused on omnath ability. And of course since I'm a little off of EDH I realize wow I have a commander I can use lol. Happy to hear that Luke. If you have any questions regarding the deck just ask them here and we'll try to help as best we can!
Just play this card, ramp a ton, and start playing that "Ice Cream Taste Test" video. You know which one I'm talking about
We don't and now we are afraid to google that...
Please do videos of suggestion on how to build an EDH deck on a commander. Ex: what cards would you suggest for a deck around Liliana, Heretical Healer?
We love this suggestion. This could be a series explaining the basics of building a commander deck and specifically how to build certain archetypes. Perfect!

Budget MTG Decks Awesome!
It would be really cool if you guys made a Marrow-Gnawer rat tribal.
You know...we agree +Walker Braden. We've added him to the list.
I'm curious, do you play-test out the decks before the videos at all?
Good question +James Willett. We test out the decks against other decks in the budget series at least twice by different people. Which means a deck will have been played at least 50 times before we are confident enough to do a deck tech on it.
Could you guys do a budget edh of Omnath, Locus of Rage?:) Haven't done a red green in a while and I think it would be pretty good.
Yeah that's a commander we would love to build around. Let's hope we can get around to it soon!
Now a days: omnath is the price of the deck itself
I run it as a Voltron deck and call my version Popeye's Spinach
That's an awesome name!
Could you do a reanimator deck, I suggest sheoldred, the whispering one as a commander
We will be doing a reanimator deck +Thomas Geale. Not sure if it will be Sheoldred as she comes out so late and can be easily removed. But we will make one ;).
doubling season is a expensive card but it produce very much tokens and counters
so its a great card for this deck :)
We think you will find that card is more at home in the Rhys the Redeemed deck +Levi Feijen. What if you draw it and you don't also have a token producer? Rhys makes much better use of Doubling season than Omnath ever could. Just our experience though.

Yeah thats also true
Thx for you response
And you make great budget decks
No problem Levi! And thanks for the kind complement :D
I have a few cards that could be good in this deck. I was wondering if they would do well in the deck, and what I would sub them in for: Courser of Kruphix + Nykthos, shrine to Nyx+ Astral cornucopia
And Nissa, Vastwood Seer//Nissa, Sage Animist
Hi +Nathan Olson, we would add the courser instead of a ramp card. Nykthos instead of a basic land and Nissa...not sure, but definitely include her if you can :D
Thanks!
I think I will slowly upgrade this deck with better cards. So far this is a great start into the format
Glad we could be of service Nathan!
Does fresh meat work on tokens? I know they cease to exist afterwards but does it still trigger to give a 3/3 beast?
Yes it works on tokens. The tokens go the graveyard and only then do they cease to exist. So Fresh meat works.
Would reliquary tower be good for all the card draw in this deck, or even a library of leng?
We didn't even know Library of Leng existed! Thanks for that +weaverst. The card draw is actually not insane so we would not include it. we just want as many cards to give us green mana which neither of those cards do.
Ok thank you for the feedback.
Bro amazing content
Thanks a lot ! ;) I'll change my deck and see if it work better ! :D
Please do an Iroas, God of Victory deck next!
We are building it ;)
Awesome :D
Make sure that Lightmine Field, Powerstone Minefield and Sunforger are in there. They are my favorite cards for this deck ;)
Ben Korb we will do our best! Those are excellent card suggestions ;)
I would really like to see a Budget elf deck. With some infinite Token / life Combos :-)
Budget elf is tricky +Steel Dom. The reason why is because the good tribal elf cards are all being used in modern so the price gets hiked up a bit too much to make effective budget decks. But we will have a look anyway ;).
I Love this deck, but can you help me with build a deck that has no money rule when it comers to Omnath and EDH?
Hi +bdaddy23, sorry but we only deal with budget cards. If you want non budget help here are loads of better channels and websites which can help you without restrictions.
+bdaddy23 Back when I played Omnath, doubling cube was an all-star. Run cards that give creatures flash in case your opponents destroy Omnath on their turns, and since mana is still their until end of turn, you can just quickly flash Omnath back into the game, so you don't lose that mana. Hope that helps!
Just a quick addition, mana empties at the end of each phase not just at then of the turn. So if Omnath gets killed during combat you have to flash cast Omnath again during combat to make use of the floating mana.
so trying to quick reference the deck but there's no link for the build anywhere and hate needing to watch large chunks at a time
The link for the deck is in the description of the video. You need to click on the "show more" tab to reveal all the links.
im confused on omnaths ability. so you tap the forest, and it goes to your pool and stays there because of him. does untapped mana that becomes tapped to cast spells stay on your pool too, or does it leave because its being spent? and you DO in fact need to tap your lands?
ok thank u :) im on mobile i cant tag u
Thanks for answering his question!
can you guys do Skullbriar EDH?
Interesting +DaJackal. We will see what we can do. Thanks for the suggestion!
And no hard feeling towards him the week before I killd him 😁
Hi Dylan, getting a good gameplay setup for paper magic is challenging but we are working on it ;).
so Im building a mono white color deck do you guys have any suggestions? Im trying to get it built before my friend gets his black deck built.
We are currently putting the finishing touches on a mono white Odric Master Tactician soldier tribal deck, maybe it could be of use to you?
Omnath is over $40, but he's now R/G! Going for Elemental themed decks in BFZ
+Zalrok1 Just checked on TCGplayer he's $10, not $40.
Depends where you find him.
+Zalrok1 guess then you have to look for the cheapest prices.
Hi +Zalrok1, you can get Omnath for $7 but more likely you wil have to pay $10. Please don't pay four times as much for him...he's good, but not that good!
19:00 An evoked creature can't block... blocking is not an "instant thing", the bald guy is making my same face when i heard.
You are absolutely right, not one of my proudest moments. ^David
You should add Nissa pilgrimage
That's a good card for this deck indeed.
What is a general eta on the neck deck
Next
Well Teysa is being tested right now +TheLightindarkness2. Which means probably two weeks.
which teysa?
At the end of each commander video you get to see who the next commander will be. So the answer will be revealed to you at the end of the Omnath video...:P
Could the gameplay video be at least half a hour, it would be awesome to see omnath edh versus the slivers edh
Roger that +Thomas Geale.
Should be a gameplay around 25minutes showing the most important parts... Maybe double speed and normal speed on important plays or so.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Are you guys waiting for 5,000 for the Q and A?
Hi Dr Necro! We should have done it before we hit 5,000. We will make a video where people can ask questions in a couple of weeks. Sorry for the delay!
alright! looking forward to it!
Skyshroud Claim?
Yeah it's perfect in this deck. Unfortunately it's over a dollar :(
1 hour hole game
Thanks for your suggestion!
24 ramp cards...
Yeah, Omnath likes his mana....
as cool as omnath is he still dies to removal... :-(
+CozPlayFreak True, but because the mana doesn't leave the pool until end of turn, you can probably just recast him that turn
+Max Br Ooh, you're right, my bad. That is really disappointing. Guess that's why it's important to have cards like Yeva, Nature's Herald in this build and/or Aluren if you have a bit more in the budget.
+Max Br I believe they stated the mana stays even after you end your turn
