I was really shocked the first time I played this at how utterly snarky and bad-tempered Kirby is! Who'd have thought the inflated Marshmallow Peep had a backbone?

Majak Majak How many times does this need to be repeated? This game is a localized version of Puyo Puyo, not a rip-off. It was made by Compile, the same developers behind Puyo Puyo. This didn't even get released in Japan because that would be redundant. Where does this notion come from that Sega and Nintendo "stole" Puyo Puyo's gameplay with this and Mean Bean Machine? "Compile" is shown on the title screen of all three games.

This isn't a cannon Kirby game, so he's nicer in his home series.

I have played the super famicom puyo puyo.
I own a copy of it as well as this game, prefer Puyo Puyo.

Kirby's Avalanche needs an online play re-release. I can say the same thing about Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.
I'd rather see the original Puyo Puyo get that instead of these reskins.

Though I own this game, and Mean Bean Machine, I felt obligated long ago to get both console's original counterparts, the original Puyo Puyo, which both western games are reskins of.
I've played this a couple of times but now I get to try it again in switch online it was worth the wait

Nintendo did a great job mimicking Puyo Puyo with everything copied from that game other than being a Kirbyfied version of that game and having one song brought over from Super Puyo Puyo. Mean Bean Machine was better because other than the butchered and unused Puyo Puyo music, it had a password feature and had an awesome 16-bit heavy metal remix of Final of Puyo Puyo from Puyo Puyo minus the intro.
Both versions are shadows of their originals, Puyo Puyo and Super Puyo Puyo. Anytime I play or see these reskinneed games, I feel insulted as both games source material was better in it's original form. Even the music of both versions of Puyo Puyo beat the shit out of both Kirby's Avalanche, and MBM's music.
And a password for a puzzle game that is short to begin with, only for those who suck at the game, and like their hand held. The game is not long enough to warrant a password system, no matter how much you suycked at the game, it could be beaten, and in about 15 minutes if you were good enough. Puyo Puyo didn't need a password system, hell even the second game didn't get a password system, and starting with Tsuu Remix on the SFC, the first version with a long ass Rally Mode, you didn't get passwords, and only the PS2 version actually saves your progress in said Rally Mode through over 30 opponents. If you need a password system in MBM, don't both with Puyo Puyo as you'd probably get upset that you can't save your progress in any version of the original game.
Real gamers play Puyo Puyo without a password system, scrubs play a reskinned version that is short, and need a password system.

out of the 3 games, (puyo puyo, dr robotnik's meanbean machine and this) this is my least favorite because it has a more "childish" tone than how puyo puyo or dr robotnik's mean bean machine's characters and ost sound like
The Genesis version went with the angsty tude bearing Sonic (to be honest, Kirby has Arle's sassy attitude, very mean spirited for what you call "childish" for Kirby), and Nintendo went with Kirby, each company went with one of their mascots for this reskin. Can't say I am a fan of either reskin, they both feel totally out of place.

I'd knew there would be a Sega game on a Super Nintendo.
Thing is, Puyo Puyo was owned by Compile at the time, it was just on Sega arcade hardware. So Sega really had no say so to what this game was ported to, or brought here and bastardized from it's original version.

Lol but Sonic game parody of Puyo-Puyo.
No parody, like Mean Bean Machine it is a literal reskin of Puyo Puyo with sprites hacked in that western players at the time could identify with. These days you'd likely not see this done as more people now know of Puyo Puyo (and to a lesser extent, Madou Monogatari, where this series spun off from).
