Damn I miss those videos.. you had some of the most awesome best of cuts on youtube, especially the small details like at 5:06 with the two climbers blinded together made these vids so amazing!
How have I only just found this competition now?! While I don't think it's the best format for determining world championships, it's bloody amazing for the spectators the way the pressure keeps building and looks super fun for everyone involved. And the editing in this video is superb how it shows the progression of each climb and even the climbers overlayed on top of each other doing the exact same moves. Awesome work Adidas and OnBouldering! Look forward to seeing it in 2017
Wow, thanks a lot Fongpay! I'm glad you like the video and I agree, the superfinal is very exciting to watch. Very intense. Adidas Rockstars is one of the best climbing events and I can't wait to cover the 2017 edition.
Competition and edit is great and cool ofc, can say a lot about it, but OH BOY THAT FIRST SONG IS AWESOME, can’t stop listening to this vocal. Thank you for adding it, keep up 😄
Haha actually I didn't think about that interpretation. I wish I had because it is pretty clever :D I simply timed it with the music to emphasize the move.
Great job!! The Rockstars covering and your other videos are amazing! Please keep it up ! And it's also nice to see that you did the shoutout at the end personally.
I mean obviously it's a cool angle if it's just for footage. Until l 2 weeks ago, I hadn't been climbing in 12 years (since highschool) . Back then, bouldering was just something we did in climbing class when we weren't using the top rope or lead climbing. This is freaking awesome, wish I knew back then about competition
Well, they know the moves can be done independently (because the route setters try the routes while setting them). But they can't be sure that the entire problem will be climbed during the competition. But they are good at their jobs and they have a ton of experience, so most of the time they get it right.
Amazing problems and edit, fun to watch, as always. Btw, what kind of climbing equipement does Adidas sell? (in order for them to be worthy to host a climbing event)
Well, through Adidas Outdoor they sell shoes and apparel for outdoor activities. And Five Ten is part of Adidas. They've been sponsoring a lot of climbers lately (the entire Slovenian team wears Adidas).
So weird to see Shauna not being one of the competitors but one of the commentators...but good for the other climbers, she would've won :D hope she'll get well soon!
Love these vids. Watched your Rockstars 2015 ones so many times! Just one request for the next round: it would be helpful to see the competitors names on screen as well.
Thanks Reinier! I usually put the names on the screen on the qualifying videos of the IFSC World Cups because there are many different climbers and some of them are not that famous. But for this one I thought that with just a handful of very well-known climbers showing the names wasn't necessary. But you may be right, I'll reconsider for next time :D
Oh, and I also like the way you respond to people's comments: you're fast, personal, positive. We need much more of that online! can't wait for your next vids. All the best :)
Don't worry about it. That's exactly why I said we need more positivity in the world. I've been following your videos for a while. You're doing the world a favour. Peace!
Thanks Jester! As long as the number of comments is manageable I plan to reply to most (hopefully all) of them. I really appreciate people investing time in leaving a comment, least I can do is reply :D. Cheers!
Beast indeed. He's certainly great to watch, but I think what makes this kind of comps great is that you get to watch him along with guys like McColl, Hojer, Gelmanov, Rubtsov... each with a different style and body type. Can't wait for the World Cups to start!
That's the observation period. The climbers take a look at each problem and try to figure out how to climb them. They can (can often do) talk to each other and touch the starting holds (without leaving the ground).
It's hard to tell, but I'm guessing that the touched the back of the volume with his left foot. The marks were for the orange volume, not for the big yellow hold, so that would have been ok.
Adidas should have Kanye show up to these things and shout encouragement and criticism from the sidelines while eating a bucket of chicken. "Falling is a choice!"
Damn I miss those videos.. you had some of the most awesome best of cuts on youtube, especially the small details like at 5:06 with the two climbers blinded together made these vids so amazing!
11:56 that is why Tomoa Narasaki is my favorite climber
It doesn't get more aggressive than that!
What a beast. Ha! He's like "huh where's my smoke?" ... "that's more like it!"
ive watched this video so many times, and i still love jan´s jump and the way he looks back at the crowd at 5:42 :D
Haha, I must confess that I've watched that moment many times too. That one and the drop knee at 7:35 :D
No Guard2000 holy shit :O so beautiful! Looks like he was skydiving hahah :D

just bought first pair of bouldering shoes... Let the mental and physical transformation begin!! ;0)
haha awesome, have fun!
@Blakdog333 Update?
OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!! It's Defqwop - Heart Afire
Competition and edit is great and cool ofc, can say a lot about it, but OH BOY THAT FIRST SONG IS AWESOME, can’t stop listening to this vocal. Thank you for adding it, keep up 😄
I'm glad you like it! Make sure you check the 2017 final!
7:35 Private joke for climbers ? xD
The slowmow of the move (which is called a drop knee) timed with the drop of the music. Genius.
Haha actually I didn't think about that interpretation. I wish I had because it is pretty clever :D
I simply timed it with the music to emphasize the move.
Pretty crazy coincidence then ^^ Great videos keep it up :)
Knee drop*
@@Kurisou *drop knee
Great job!! The Rockstars covering and your other videos are amazing! Please keep it up !
And it's also nice to see that you did the shoutout at the end personally.
Thanks! I was planning on letting my marketing team do the shoutout but in the end my second secretary convinced me to do it myself :D
I love this edit. It really hypes me up! Keep up the good work.
Thanks Peter!
Exceptional competition this year, these athletes really are incredible. As always the highlights were excellently composed.
Thanks Justin! It really was an awesome event. Great setting, top athletes, perfect organization... hard to do better

Never too late!
janja is insane, top boulder and lead so consistantly
How do they come up with these routes? How do they know they aren't actually impossible?
Well, they know the moves can be done independently (because the route setters try the routes while setting them). But they can't be sure that the entire problem will be climbed during the competition. But they are good at their jobs and they have a ton of experience, so most of the time they get it right.
SO GOOD! Me encantan tus videos!
Me alegro de que te gusten!

they bought out 5.10 in 2011
wish i could have been there, must have been such an amazing event
It was great, they do a really good job, everything runs smoothly, everyone has a good time and working there is really easy.
My knees broke precisely at 7:44
So weird to see Shauna not being one of the competitors but one of the commentators...but good for the other climbers, she would've won :D hope she'll get well soon!
Such a pity that she missed the World Champs and this comp.
the mantle at 2:40 is nuts
Yes it is. And it looked so easy and natural. Hop! And the mantle is done.
Really fun and inspiring to watch. Good edit. :)
Thanks Porco!
Wow great Video. I never saw a such good climbing competition. keep doing
Thanks a lot Julien!
love ur edits. excellent music selection
I really like the first song, the first time I heard it I marked it as "for Adidas Rockstars final".
OH MY GOD. Thanks for using Heart Afire. ♥
Thanks to you for singing it! Beautiful song and beautiful voice!
Love these vids. Watched your Rockstars 2015 ones so many times!

Don't worry about it. That's exactly why I said we need more positivity in the world. I've been following your videos for a while. You're doing the world a favour. Peace!
Great video, also you have replied on EVERY single comment, thats pretty awesome :)
Thanks Jester! As long as the number of comments is manageable I plan to reply to most (hopefully all) of them. I really appreciate people investing time in leaving a comment, least I can do is reply :D. Cheers!
Yea man, i've been looking for well done sport climbing/bouldering videos lately and i think this nailed it :)
Great work! Thanks
I'm glad you like it Kuba!
W3 has gotta be the best problem for me, what a great design. Janja's dyno! Holy shit!
True that! But to me, the drop knees are even more impressive!
Thx for this great video!
Thanks Stephen!
Tomao Narasaki
Thanks!
2020... it 20 year ago... gosh i hope i can do it again
Great video!
Great video dude 💪
Thanks Sindre!
❤️ miho
Awesome edit!
Thank you sir!
Tomoa Narasaki is such a beast! Probably the most entertaining to watch competition climber at the moment.
Beast indeed. He's certainly great to watch, but I think what makes this kind of comps great is that you get to watch him along with guys like McColl, Hojer, Gelmanov, Rubtsov... each with a different style and body type. Can't wait for the World Cups to start!
Nice work mate!
Thanks Eddie! And good luck with your visa :D
Isso é diferente, muito bom
Janja is always so impressive...
Oh look. Janja won.... Didn't see that coming ;) Just such a strong climber! AMAZING!!
And she's just 17!
inspiring!
I'm glad you think so!
Really good video! Keep it going :-)
Thanks, will do!
What is happening at 0:56-ish where those groups of people are talking to each other?
That's the observation period. The climbers take a look at each problem and try to figure out how to climb them. They can (can often do) talk to each other and touch the starting holds (without leaving the ground).
Tomao is such a beast.
yes he is!
💗
So what's with the gopro inside that one hold? Do they get to keep it if they grab it as a bonus, then top the wall?
There was a glass protecting the camera, they couldn't touch it. But I think the footage ended up being too dark to be used.
janja is crazy strong
yep, she is
What's this music beginning of this video?
Info and links in the description
on the showed attempt on M3Jan Hojer didn't match the feets at the start, therefore this one was invalid
It's hard to tell, but I'm guessing that the touched the back of the volume with his left foot. The marks were for the orange volume, not for the big yellow hold, so that would have been ok.
12:12 he had to push the button twice xD
those buttons need a good push!
Where shauna at :(((
Shauna did a really good job with the commentary. She's still nursing her shoulder!
The mens final was a little too easy it seems
Adidas should have Kanye show up to these things and shout encouragement and criticism from the sidelines while eating a bucket of chicken.
"Falling is a choice!"
omg
Spiduru man
What a fucking shame to give gift like redbull
Haha no, it wasn't a gift, that would have been pretty lame indeed. Miho came out to the podium ceremony with a redbull in her hand
These finals are horrible, no technic used.
janja win !!
Narasaki is so much better than everyobdy else, it's not funny anymore.
Gkgor
