I love your creative editing, man. Cracks me up every time, because your laid back style and attitude actually makes it a bigger surprise! Your videos are a kind of jazz in and of themselves in that way. Swingy, soft, yet surprising at the same time.
Rather than playing small group jazz, I've ended up as the guitarist in two big bands. I'd love to hear if you have any experiences or tips that would help those of us doing this. Rootless voicings are de rigeur, of course.
Please Sir what's that jimmy's song (Concert) at 7:01 Excellent video's on your chennel by the way... They helped me alot to progress on my guitar learning jurney.
Thanks so much, Jens! I think I got the most out of those rhythms between the root and the other notes in the chord. Stuff I can use right away to spice things up!
Great as always Jens. For me be able to play (essentially) the same chord in the same position on different string sets has been important, as has being able to move the same chord up and down the neck.
But I have a much simpler explanation for these techniques. It makes it easier for one to play while a little drunk or high and makes it easier on one's conscience if you miss a few notes here and there.

Cant believe I'm seeing a John Squire shoutout in a Jens video. I listened to Second Coming endlessly in high school :)
Haha! He is a great guitarist, even Liam Gallagher thinks so 😁
I too use any excuse to use an Yngwie quote 🧐
He is indeed not only hilarious but also Swedish 😎

I have played in a big band and all i can say is that you are the heartbeat of it all but no one will hear you 😅
I'm a sucker for those yngwie quotes that unleash the F'n fury.

Great video!

5:08 Sometimes, I feel that I need to bash 5 chords all over the fretboard just to re-program my brain.
This was very accessible for beginners. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!

Indeed! You need to be flexible 🙂
Very insightful! Jens' video made me want to get my guitar and try out these ideas!
Go for it 🙂
Heeeey long stretched chords can be good too, but probably not in this genre 😅
Maybe take that up with Ben Monder, John Stowell and Allan Holdsworth 🙂
@@JensLarsen Yeah you are right about that but that is a different kind of jazz imo
@@JensLarsen Although i must confess i only know Allan holdsworth of the three you mention 😅

Go easy on Yngwie--the poor man was genuinely befuddled when dressing like an 18th century aristocrat suddenly went out of style! 😂🤣😜
