I struggled with iTunes and Google Play Music to try and figure out how to get Google Music to work. I should have come straight to this tutorial because it was exactly what I needed. Every single step described was accurate (in other words, what the tutor did was exactly what would happen when I did it) and made it sooo much easier. I didn't have to enter a credit card because I have had a google account for other of its apps so google already knows my location. Don't know why some people have problems or think that giving google your credit card number is a threat of some kind -- trust me, google already knows everything about you. I think the reason for credit card entry is so that it makes it easier for you later on if you want to purchase music from google (or any other google app/product). You can change your google settings so that a purchase using your credit card number requires authentication/authorization and a notification first. If you can't enter in invalid number, it's because google knows what a real number looks like so don't blame google because you're trying to get around one of their processes. Unless you're a real technie and know how to hack systems, don't try and do stupid things like put in a fake credit card number for pete's sake! The upload feature works great but note that if you are upload thousands of songs and your internet upload speed is slow, it will take time to upload. You have to be patient. Everything I wanted to know is contained in this tutorial -- uploading, playlists, organization and shortcuts. Great video!

I used an old credit card that doesnt work anymore and it worked, they cant really charge an account that doesnt exist anymore, dont know if it works for all but it did for me.

I agree with the others. This is a very nice tutorial. However, it is a little incomplete because of what I ran into. I upload a lot of my phone too Google Music Cloud and then I tried to tell assistant to play it.
Google Assistant proceeded to tell me that I needed a good option to listen to my music that I uploaded. Gee, I thought it was a free service. Yet, I can go directly to the app and listen to the desired album or song.
I talked with someone connected with the subscription at Google. Here is the walk around for that problem. I simply created a playlist with the desired effect of songs or album. Google Assistant has no problem playing those playlist. I would like to add an extra caveat to help your views. When you create a playlist, be certain to use no spaces between the world. For example, I would create a playlist called "TheClassics" to play all my classical music CDs. If I put a space between those two words then assistant won't recognize the playlist.

This was helpful inasmuch as it pointed me in the right direction. To make it even easier, first upgrade to google chrome and register username and password. I did not have to provide a credit card doing it this way. Also, iTunes seems to encrypt now. I was successful using a backup copy of my iTunes library and dragging the folder onto the drag and drop screen. It's upload speed is very slow but at least my music is being transferred so I can use it with my Google home hub and other devices. Thank you!

Sounds like a great little add-on (thanks for sharing), but they won't get my credit card #. Google already knows the location of anyone signing in.

Just an end user here, not super techie. New to android. I don't have music on my computer, it's on my PHONE ! Looks like Google does not have feature to add music from my PHONE to Google Play Music. I want to open my music on my phone, and play it to Google Audio devices I've purchased. If anyone has step by step instructions on how to do this, please share.

Thanks. I am moving from ios to android. And i misses CarPlay and i get android auto in my car now. But all my collections of songs in iTunes only. In Android auto there’s only one option that is google music so thankful for this video. One doubt are they gonna play offline i mean the songs which are uploaded from my MacBook Pro to google music? Like in the case of no network area in android auto are they gonna appear as my album?

well if you actually tried to use this video you would have seen how outdateed it is anyway. Now google wants you to download a program so it can spy on your computer. even worse in my opinion

Thank you for the video. My question is, I have to do a factory reset on my Note 8 because its messing up, and before they'll replace it, they need to know that I tried everything. I have a ton of music on my UA-cam Player, the Premium one that you pay a monthly subscription for, everywhere I have looked it hasn't said that I can save it to a cloud or anywhere. I haven't done the factory rest yet because I'm so scared I'm going to lose all my music. Yeah i researched the whole thing.
1.Try letting google chrome through your firewall.
2. Try using a different wifi Network.
3. Download the play music desktop app and try upload from there (it won't upload, rather redirect your connection so it can "establish a secure connection".

I use amazon prime music and samsung music on my phone.

So when I click upload it tells me to download something called music manager. When I do so it doesn’t let me download anything other than iTunes songs.

The tutorial does cover how to create playlists. You'll need to replay the video and pay attention because he showed how to do it and I learned how to do it from him so I know it works.

my orange circle still spins once I try to upload but doesn't stop spinning, and I have refreshed my library many times but the issue still happens...I don't know lol
You may have a slow internet connection or a poor signal which will slow down the uploading of songs. If you refresh, I think it quits the upload and starts again, so don't constantly refresh. I would suggest clearing your cache, ensure that you have a strong and fast connection, and have some patience while the orange circle spins. Try it with just one short song first (maybe a 5 minute song) and see how long it takes to upload. A slow or poor internet connection can really try your patience. If it takes 5 minutes to upload a 5 minute song, imagine how long it will take to upload 1000 songs all at one shot. Again, don't refresh during the uploading process.
Can you play the music you uploaded on a phone? i can't find where it saves it, i've uploaded via my PC to the cloud and have my phone setup to stream albums but the new uploaded songs are not there

I have a problem. Whenever I upload an album, it seemingly takes forever and in some cases it never even started uploading in the first place.

Anthony Ramirez I had that exact same problem. For some reason phone was not recording the correct numbers being uploaded and there was some hanging. I solve the problem by downloading music manager. It allowed me to upload all my music, easily. Hope this helps.

By the way, it's RIDICULOUS that Google doesn't allow you simply to point to your existing Google Drive folders, instead of laboriously downloading and re-uploading all your MP3 files. Until they eliminate this roadblock, I'm not going to bother.

You can type in any random set of numbers. It most likely won't be an actual number, so Google Play says it's invalid. Yet it gives you permission to upload after you've entered false numbers it rejects
