Actual formula for manpower calculation is " Line lead time/Takt time". Suppose if a production line have total four activities A,B,C and D. and time taken by them is 10 ,12, 13 and 15 minutes respectively . Now the total line lead time is 50 mins. Assume this line is purely labor based line then total manpower required to fill the demand of let's say 500 pieces in 8 hrs. Now total available time is 8*60 = 480 mins . So Takt time will be 480/500 mins, 0.96 mins. Now required manpower to meet the target of 500 pieces in 8 hrs is 50/0.96 = 52 People .
