Daniel, awhile back you did a coin video but captured orbs appearing, in this recent video. Did you notice the orb that decends at a curving angle from top right of black screen behind you. You'll see it within the first 13 seconds

I have to say Daniel, as a new coin collector, it is crazy how many times I have had a question and you put out a new video covering the topic in great depth. Even showing how it’s done with comparisons, examples and possible mistakes during the process. I am very grateful 🙏🏼. Your channel provides so much value. Thank you.
One of my first coins as a kid was an 1820/19 large cent in filler condition. Only cost me a buck, but gave me years of pleasure. I wish I had never sold it!
I submitted a comm. Half dollar to PCGS for grading.... it was returned upgraded marked pvc residue ! I "restored" my coin by soaking it in acetone then rinsing it with soap and water... I resubmitted my coin and received a grade of MS 65. I appreciate your videos and the knowledge that you share with your subscribers.
Yep, that is why I do it.
I haven't necessarily cleaned any coins, but if I find a keeper I like to wipe them off with an eye glasses cleaning cloth, doesn't seem to harm them any. I figured if they don't scratch glass, it won't scratch metal. Also, I haven't really had a chance to look through it yet, but I added your app last night, and it seems like it's very helpful so far. Thanks
The key is to treat the coin as early as possible. Verdigis is natural oxidation and will pit the coin. PVC is not natural, but can also cause permanent damage. Acetone can certainly help in the early stage. Just be careful about any wiping. Also, for copper/brass I would say that 'Coin Care' is the best of the products still available IMO. Cheers!
I have some of that and forgot to mention it.
Thanks Daniel ! Absolutely nothing wrong with what you did. Restoration. Need to stop the disease spread on the coin. A coin not gradable to begin with, not going to hurt.
On my bucket list someday to buy a certified Red Brown uncirculated large cent. Thanks for the tutorial, Daniel!
I have two MS large cents but they're both brown. They do have lovely luster. You really need a lot of red to justify the bump in price from BN to RB. RD and RB large cents also tend to have carbon spotting.
Boy do i like listening to U thanks
That "U"... 😂
I know it was a common practice in certain establishments in the 1800s to modify these for the purchase of, uh... services provided. I have one that's DARK green, which makes me think it's a legit, dug up brothel coin, but I'm not sure there's any way to know for sure if a 170+ year old cent was modified by an actual practitioner or after the fact. Still... love the history!
Tee-hee.
✳️ Enjoy your show thanks for letting us see you're collection of coins ✳️
Nice to see some largies 👍
Very Nice coins Daniel, I like U.S coins Thank you 🙏👍👍
Very nice coins
Thanks Daniel!
Thanks for this kind of video , it helps a lot to us . I have a 1817 one cent with xf condition so no need to clean it anymore , and in coin capsule . Again thanks a lot for sharing your well experience in Kings hobby. God bless us all.
Interesting video. I love those large cents. I plan on collecting them after my Buffalo Nickels are complete.
Thanks for sharing. 😀
holey moley. large cents are getting hard to find in good shape great call picking those up.
Hello from the great state of Michigan
Thanks for sharing and the copper “cleaning” advice. 😎👍
And the quick wipe down will prevent it from getting worse.
I was SOO burned by a “reputable “ coin shop in Ottawa,I’ll I will never again trust a shop, I’ve seen several of your video’s and have learned a lot
You can't judge them all by one and how did you find out you got ripped off?
Ottawa? What state or provence?
From my experience you can remove some light corrosion by gently scraping it off with a toothpick. I know all well how it sounds but if done properly it REALLY leaves no mark on the coin.
Thank you Daniel for sharing your knowledge once again. Stay well..
Nice cents, I had to do the same with some peace dollars that i got in Mint state, they came in PVC flips and i put them away for several years only to find them with green slime on them, now i may be lucky to get AU price for them. As always, thanks for the video.
Using those cotton swabs will make micro scratches
Not the way I do it does not, but the coins are problem coins so it's irrelevant.
Thank you Daniel. Extremely helpful. Knowledge is key.
Good Evening Daniel!🍷 I like large cents and own quite a few. But I have found the many different varieties to be a bit overwhelming!😊
I love large cents. They're cool and many are still very affordable. I recently handed one from the late 1700s to my 12-year-old niece, and told her "that when that coin was minted, George Washington was president. Perhaps John Adams or Thomas Jefferson used it to purchase snuff." Her reaction, holding a piece of our nation's history and commerce in her hand was priceless.
To remove most types of corrosion, soak your coins in olive oil overnight and rinse in warm water..
I have two of those coins but I never thought I should clean them just left them that way 👍👌
The difference between "cleaning" and cleaning is if you are changing the original surface or are you just removing the smutz ON the surface. Also, if it is already damaged you can't damage it unless you take it to a grinder or sandpaper.
I have a 1798 Large Cent graded VG-7 by the seller. Over the years it has turned almost black. I think I will give it a dip and see what happens.
Superb video , Thank You so much
Very good video Daniel, thanks
Nice job on restoring cents. I saw the green PVC
Excellent tutorial Daniel. Thanks for sharing your insight!
Hi Daniel! I was actually looking for an acetone on copper coin video from you and I also remember a few weeks ago I was looking for people's thoughts with greatcollections and sure enought the next day you made a video about where to sell coins and mentioned them too! I'm on the coinhelpu wavelength it seems!
Very cool!
Haven't been to the store yet... however, when I get there it would be nice to see a t-shirt with have a nice day and you smiling that wonderful smile.... just a thought
The "U" coins are called brothel tokens. They have a much higher premium. More noticeable in lower grades.
Great vid. Thanks!
My coin dealer thinks gold and silver coins only have value .everything else has no value.
Honestly that’s 60% of people in the game.Unless it’s silver or gold it’s worthless to them and they done give a damn about coins just the metal they are comprised of.
I love large cent coins.
Wow Amazing coins!!!!
great information. thanks
Hello and thank you.
How far are you from Cleveland?
Removing PVC from a coin is not cleaning as you not taking the surface patina off. The green PVC will corrode the coin surface if it's not removed.
Yes, it is cleaning a coin just like washing dirt off your hands is cleaning. You don’t scratch your skin but you’re still cleaning. I rather call it restoring but the point of the video is too teach people the difference and not argue sentiments.
I have a few that need some restoration. One of my lcd's gave them to my son for free but it looks like they were dug up exposed to moisture or something.
You can’t restore corrosion.
@@CoinHELPuwell i guess clean would be the word im looking for. I think im going to clean them. Clean them so i can see more details because on some i cant even see the date.
@@jaminmaki4243 I think you just gotta let them be at this point
How will it affect the grading process. Thank you in advance.
The coins are not gradable to begin with.
What’s the difference between use the acitone and WD-40 to remove adhesive? I would think it has less harmful ingredients no?

Fun video!
Daniel, I have a copper coin that only has sentience value. It’s a nice design but very dark brown. What can I use to make it like a nice shiny new penny?
Please ask your questions in our help community linked in the description of this video. Thanks.
i have a 1876
Doesn’t turning the E into a U usually indicate that it was a brothel token at some point?
Yep
I have put a few coins in boiling water that where stuck together. Does that hurt them? I mean it unstuck and got the pop off of them.
If they had pop on them then they’re not much to begin with so how could it hurt them?
Love the vids
Would acetone harm a bronze 1902 UK Farthing that is still BU, but which is covered with like a caked on dust?
I can’t answer questions about coins like this without seeing them in hand.
@CoinHELPu totally understandable. Thanks.
Do you have any experience using a product called “coin care”… was possibly going to try it out on my Indian head cents
Nope
If you leave coins in 90% rubbing alcohol and rub with a soft bristled brush us that wrong for cleaning?
I tried to go to mint error app. and came up with movies. I have a 1976 dime that has the D filled in. The 6 of the 1976 is sitting on the dime edge. Also in god we trust is sitting on the edge of the dime. Over on the back, you can hardly see the us by the torch. The Liberty is sitting up on the edge.
Please ask your questions in our help community linked in the description of this video. Thanks.
I have seen a lot of those.
Where would be the best place to buy acetone? I sometimes come across wheat cents with stuff on them which makes looking at certain details difficult when looking for varieties. I have heart issues; is it good for me to do this in a well-ventilated area?
Thanks for the video?
Dollar store
@@CoinHELPu I was dreading home depots price. I saw you had acetone nail polish remover awesome
That 1847 NGC holder looks slightly sketchy. The cut and wilting on foil inside the NGC holder make me shudder a bit.
It's not, it's fine.
why would they fake a problem coin?
Great video as always Daniel. Quick question though... With the large cent in the Capital Holder, is the type of plastic used safe for coin storage? I always bust those out. Thanks.
Please ask your questions in our help community linked in the description of this video. Thanks.
I can't figure out how to join the community can you please tell me how to do it I go on there and it won't let me do it
Have a friend or family member help you I can’t help remotely with that. My community doesn’t prevent anyone from joining. You can also look up a video on how to.
@@CoinHELPu I know
In fact that’s just another one of many things I’ve learned from watching your videos. Believe me when I say Im old school and technically challenged so I’ve watched many videos on how to do stuff you recommend we do👍👍clearly you’ve helped me with technical issues as well as educating me with coins. I made a VIP file so when I question what to do..I will watch that particular video to refresh my memory.
What's your advice on dug metal detected coins? I have some I just want to get the date and or mint mark. I know I run a risk if damaging the coin but I'd your can't get a date you don't know what you have anyway.
Advice from anyone would be great
Please ask your questions in our help community linked in the description of this video. Thanks.
I have heard some detectorist's talk about using a tumbler but soaking them in water and baking soda helps a little. If there is any inclination that it could be a rare, key date, consult an expert so that you don't damage the coin further.
🖐🏻👍🏻
Thought you were not suppose to clean coins?
I think restoring is a better term than cleaning. He’s removing PVC damage and tape residue, he’s not really cleaning. There are harsh dip chemicals that people sometimes use, I think the dip MS70 is one, it will pit the coins and cause micro scratches on the surface.
Will it harm silver coins
No it won’t. I have another video on this subject as well. You can search channels for their video titles.
@@CoinHELPu well thanks brotha... It's good to know that.. I have a 1922 peace dollar UN . That' has some sticky substance on the back that needs to come off . I'm gonna try it ...
I still cringed watching you clean them🤷♂️.
Daniel, beautiful coppers.
What about using “Blue Ribbon” on copper? You can’t buy the original product anymore but they do sell some knockoffs
This is fabulous information i can try it on my coins as I have multiples of several wheat cents it will be a great learning experience for me !
These are the kind of videos I enjoy! The ones that make me think 🤔 …
I’m a bit more educated and (even at my age🤫)..Learning something NeW every day. So I Thank you for sharing that!😉👍👍
