Top 30 Most Streamed Power Metal Bands in 2021

- This is a video with short audio samples from most streamed Power Metal Bands on Spotify in October of 2021! The acts have been selected through Ranker.com's "The Best Power Metal Bands" and going through Top100 Power Metal Bands and putting them in order according to streams and removed some bands that I thought were not primarily known for power metal (for instance Accept, Within Temptation and Amaranthe).
The short audio samples fall under fair use and can be seen as a promotion for the bands and recommendations to check them out on Spotify. All photos fall are used under the free creative commons license and we did not find great footage for all bands and therefore some are a bit lower definition.
The song you hear in the beginning and end is "Renegade Angel (feat. Tim 'Ripper' Owens) - Damnation. The research for this video was done by Jani Pöysä and Nemanja Stankovic found the audio and pictures and made this video. Here are the songs in the video. There is a direct link to the song on Spotify where you can listen to the full song. We forgot to include Dragonforce and Brothers in Metal in the video and you can see here where they would have been if they were included.

one little minor thing I have to point out here: Bismarck by Sabaton was not part of the Great War album oh, it was released as a single . this was done due to the fact that the most requested topic for one of their songs was a song about the World War II battleship Bismarck, and as you could see this would not fit on an album that's meant to be about the Great War . I know it's a kind of petty thing but I had to bring it up
True, it would not make sense to put a single about a battleship from World War 2 on an album that is themed around World War 1. Just remembered it was released a few months before their last album and just assumed it would have been there without thinking closer about the obvious context.
Its also a collab with wows or smthng

Somebody asked about why Gamma Ray was not included but deleted the comment. It's a Top30 list and obviously, every legendary band will not make it to the list. Gamma Ray had 146t listeners, while Freedom Call at #30 had 197t listeners. Here are a few other 'big names' that did not make the list: Iron Savior 167t, Pretty Maids 164t, Symphony X 149t, Xandria 155t, Masterplan 149t, Grave Digger 146t, Demons and Wizards 102t and Heavenly 90t. Gamma Ray released their last studio album "Empire of the Undead" in 2014 and have only done very few gigs after Kai rejoined Helloween. Pretty sure they were in Top10 in 2014 and would still be if Kai would not have joined Helloween and they would have continued releasing albums and touring with Gamma Ray.

Thanks. You would expect that after releasing their re-union album with Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen just a few months prior they would have even more streams. However, Sabaton is great too and have some of the best live shows, so not very surprised they've gotten so many streams 😎 They sing about different battles in history and I guess that alone will give them extra visibility. For instance the songs Talvisota, Soldier of 3 Armies and White Death were involving Finland's battle against Russia in WW2 and were shared around by tons of Finns that usually do not care about metal 😁
@@RenegadeAngel HI, yea that's the point. Have seen Kiske a dozend times live, mostly with Avantasia, and he is one hell of a singer in his style. All the songs he recorded he can do live as well or even better : ) I am not so much into Sabaton yet, maybe should give em a try ; )

You're missing Rhapsody, bcs Rhapsody and Rhapsody of fire are seperate on spotify. Kamelot is American and not german. And HammerFall has incorrect stats. Nice list tho.
True, did not notice that Spotify lists them differently. They just changed their name, so it would have made sense to just list all their songs under their current name. If I would have noticed it, then I would have added those two bands together and they would have ended with 530 000 monthly listeners. Kamelot is a rather international band. You got Oliver Palotai(keyboard, guitars) and Alex Landenburg (drums) from Germany, Thomas Youngblood (guitars) and Sean Tibbetts from USA and Tommy Karevik (singer) from Sweden. However, since Thomas Youngblood is the main songwriter and founder of the band - it could have made more sense to list them as American. Yeah, Hammerfall had about 1.3 million and not 0.3 million monthly listeners now. Unfortunately, there have been a few smaller errors in this list 😕
There’s also Luca Turili’s Rhapsody and Turilli / Lenone Rhapsody with about 20k each, not sure why they’ve had so many iterations
I found a mistake. Kamelot is from the US, not Germany.
Kamelot's lineup now includes members from various countries: Vocalist: Tommy Karevik (Sweden), Guitarist: Thomas Youngblood (USA), Guitarist: Oliver Palotai (Germany), Bass: Sean Tibbets (USA), and Drums: Alex Landenburg (Germany). Their composition is quite multinational nowadays. However, considering Thomas Youngblood as the founding member and primary songwriter, it could indeed have made sense to list them as an US band.

Insaia got 26 299 monthly listeners right now. This list says nothing of which bands are the best, but only most streams and could be seen as most popular. However, popularity does not mean they are the best. Ed Sherean and Justin Bieber are about tied with around 80 million monthly listeners. Most streamed metal/hardrock acts are Ac/dc with 21 million streams and Metallica with 17m.
Nightwish is not power metal band, is symphonyc metal.
In its place should have been Dragonforce.

Yes, missed Dragonforce from the list, and they would have been fourth place (also in the description). Even if these other bands you mentioned might have had enough listeners in 2021(?), they were missing from the list on which the selection of bands was based. Thought about making a top list of most streamed power metal songs (limited to one song by each band - to not only have a list of only a few bands) and also include songs of bands missing from this list. However, this is very time-consuming, so haven't done one yet...
And Dragonforce?
Forgotten to add them when making the video, but we mentioned already about in the description where you can also see where they would have landed on this list 😎

@@nikitaavdeev9681 That is the flag of Scotland. Alestorm comes from Perth (Scotland) and sings proudly with a Scottish accent, so I thought it would be more appropriate to have a Scottish than the union jack flag.

Yes, it would have made sense to mark the band to be from United States since Thomas Youngblood is the founder and main songwriter. However, at least they got two current members from Germany 🤘😁

They have 161t listeners today, and their numbers were similar a year ago. Not bad, but not enough to be among the Top 30 most streamed artists.

Uh DragonForce?? Brothers of Metal?? Just a couple of the top of my head that are missing
Dragonforce would have been #4 with 1.6m monthly listeners and Brothers of Metal would have been #10 with 634t listeners. BOM was also forgotten from Ranker's Top200 Power Metal list (see description) that this list was based on. However, they are surely one of the best power metal bands out there. Unfortunately, some smaller mistakes were made, but at least it gives a great insight into comparing which bands are the most popular right now.

Manowar power metal?
Yes, they are on Ranker's "The Best Power Metal Bands" list that the video is based on. They are also listed as Heavy Metal / Power Metal on Wikipedia and Metal Archives. I was even more uncertain about including Savatage and Iced Earth too, but I let them go since they appeared on the list.

When did Kamelot become German and Alestorm isn't Scottish.
Alestorm's Wikipedia page lists that they come from Perth, Scotland, and they call themselves "True Scottish Pirate Metal" and have a theme about singing with their "Scottish accent."
Kamelot's guitarist/keyboard player Oliver Palotai and drummer Alex Landenberg are German. Guitarist Thomas Youngblood and bassist Sean Tibbets are from the US. Lead singer Tommy Karevik is Swedish. The band is international, but you must choose one country.
Some bands might have changed the lineup and have a majority from another country nowadays than they started with. I guess the country should not matter as much as long as you like their music 😎
