    Great shoot and the model is really hot. Loved the shots on the motorcycle, the colors were really really nice

    @2:12, try pressing the button next to the view finder so that it's EVF only. It's possible that you're pulling camera away from your eye a little bit (without realizing it) and the camera is automatically switching over to rear panel. I've experience similar w/ SL2.
    @3:25, for photos, the low noise benefit of the SL2-s is largely (if not entirely) negated after downsampling the higher SL2 image to same resolution as the SL2-S. The primary advantages of the SL2-S are 1) lower price point and 2) slightly better optimized for video.
    @5:31, give the Panasonic Lumix lenses a try. They're also very good and offer the physical aperture ring. The focusing collar also let you pull in/out to switch between AF and MF modes (very nice feature). Sigma lenses also provide an aperture ring.

      Cool stuff Roland! Thanks for your advices and am sure this will also be helpful for fellow photographer.

    I had the EVF black out blinking issue, too. The solution is to put the EVF up against to your eye. the sensor is kinda tricky and will switch in AUTO mode if you leave some gap between your eye and the EVF eyecup (which i was used to doing)

    The EVF is SO GOOD on this camera, it's like visual cocaine . . . I sometimes just look at my photos through it for the sheer sensual quality of the experience.

    Leica SL2s beats Sony Canon Nikon including the A7siii in low light. The other brands definitely can see in low light better with super high iso capability. However, leica image at iso 50,000 is the most usable iso 50,000 image i have ever seen. The fine details in the noise makes it look so elegant for high iso.

    • @cris_photography

      Interesting! I should try that out against my 7siii thanks

      @@cris_photography Were you able to try it out? I think it is pretty mind-blowing the SL2-S can compete against a low-light specialised camera. Something with the way Leica programmed their post-processing and jpeg engine etc. Not much noise reduction and the noise looks like film grains.

      You’re right. But AF sucks a lot in low light with the SL2S. Selling mine…

    that TRIUMPH Motorcycle (Bonneville T100/T120 or Street/Speed-Twin) looked great, and also the model (girl). I have the Triumph Trident 660.
    Nice review on the SL2S. I am happy with my Leica M10P white LE & 50 summilux.

      Yes - awesome bike! (Don’t know the exact model though) and the model is also fantastic indeed.
      Gréât gear you’ve got - love the M10 (the M being my favorite Leica cameras overall). Take care and thanks for the feedback on the video

  • @FredRanger

    Good review Cris! I'm thinking of selling y M10 and getting the SL2, but still continue using my M lenses with the adaptor. What do you usually shoot with? I think we are both Fujifilm and Leica heavy users ;-)

    • @cris_photography
      @cris_photography  3 роки тому +4

      Hey Fred, thanks for the feedback! I think the SL and the M are a world apart and very different cameras (besides the obvious reasons). I personally am a big fan of the M series and the Q but for my pro work I indeed rely on my Fuji cameras a lot. Maybe using the SL2 with the M mount lenses is in fact a good idea but being manual lenses I’d almost stick to the M10 😌 IMO.
      Take care!

      The SL series are nice, but are much heavier than the M series.

    • @FredRanger
      @FredRanger 3 роки тому +2

      @@crispin8888 yes, definitely not the most portable and discrete. The Ms and Qs are the best choice for that.

      so is using a m lens on this a bad idea? i was thinking of getting the sl2-s first before plunging to a M but wanted to use the same lens.

    • @KeedonMD
      @KeedonMD 2 роки тому +2

      @@mous3y490 using M Len’s on SL2-S is a great choice if you want productivity. The EVF makes it very easy to focus even if you are using noctilux 0.95. Heavier M lenses are better weight distributed on SL2S like 75mm 1.2 or 90mm 1.5. SL2S is also great for R lenses which you may not care much with just a M body. Despite most people say SL2S is bigger : it really isn’t significant if you hold a M246 next to it. It feels like a M body with a grip handle add on.

    How is your experience with af especially in low light? Didn’t like it that much tbh

    • @cris_photography
      @cris_photography  Рік тому +1

      Honestly not the best out there (AF-wise) but it is contrast detection based and when the light is dim… doesn’t work that well. Never really had a problem with that really but I can see how that could be a drawback for some. Cheers

    For personal work, SL or M?

    • @cris_photography
      @cris_photography  2 роки тому +1

      For a project where I need speed - SL without a question. For a project where time is not an issue I’d go with M. but M is more of a pleasure-take-your-time type of camera imo. Cheers

    An updated SL-2 with Ver. # 3 firmware gives the new features to the SL-2. Since the SL-2 in a better camera that is now once
    again the top Leica.

    Usable at 100,000 ISO...? I think Leica would have had to make a quantum leap ahead of low light champs like Sony (A7III) and Nikon (Z6II) to pull that off.
    Perhaps it depends on one's tolerance for noise.

    • @cris_photography
      @cris_photography  3 роки тому

      Totally agree with you Robert! And also, depends on what « usable » means to each and everyone. I don’t think the files are « amazing » at ISO 100’000 but you could see and understand what’s happening let us say. If you convert in black and white it helps too. Also, with a wider aperture you basically never need to go that high. Take care
