The aperture, the small opening between the lips through which air passes when playing the trumpet, is critical to creating a consistent and controlled sound. Preserving the aperture at all costs is essential for several reasons:
1. Tone Quality: A well-defined aperture allows for smooth and even vibrations, leading to a clear, focused tone. An unstable or distorted aperture will result in a poor sound quality or an inconsistent tone.
2. Control and Flexibility: The aperture plays a vital role in pitch control and flexibility when transitioning between notes. A properly maintained aperture facilitates smooth slurs, accurate leaps, and stable intonation.
3. Endurance and Efficiency: An optimal aperture promotes efficient use of air and embouchure muscles, allowing trumpet players to perform for longer periods without fatigue. A compromised aperture may lead to excessive pressure, muscle strain, and limited playing time.
4. Dynamic Range: Preserving the aperture ensures a wide dynamic range, from soft pianissimo to powerful fortissimo. A well-controlled aperture enables the player to produce a full spectrum of dynamics without compromising tone quality.
5. Articulation and Expression: A consistent aperture allows for precise articulation and nuanced expression in various styles of music. A well-maintained aperture ensures clean attacks and releases, contributing to the overall musicality of a performance.

Stand partner: You suck at high notes!
Trumpet player: *Define a high note*
Thank you I can now hit a C-sharp above staff.
Nice!
I'm planning on playing trumpet next year... SO THIS REALLY HELPED THANK YOU❤
Edit1-I got the part as trumpet... Because of you thank you!
I can’t lip buzz but have found that playing low notes for a warmup I can naturally hit the triple C note and notes above that but with less control albeit the ability fades over a few minutes so technique needs to be worked on but considering the amount of practice I put in which isn’t much I am beginning to think the reason people struggle with high notes is too much conflicting theory so I say again point being, I cannot lip buzz without some sort of frame to help form the embouchure but I have no problems buzzing the mouthpiece and therefore the trumpet and since I am not interested in lip buzzing it doesn’t worry me and I can hit high notes, so I don’t think being able to buzz your lips has anything to do with hitting high notes
🤨
Thank you this video really helped me now I can reach E
❤️💪🏻🔥
3rd E?
I'm very green, i can hit notes cleanly, but rven on my good days my trumpet starts sounding like an asthmatic elephant after practicing for a bit.
Thanks a lot
Now I can play triple g and sometimes triple c
Tysm you teach me
Any tips on how to get high notes with braces?
Yeah I struggle with this too. I would also like some tips with that
Oh dang I just started band and I have braces
Any tips to read music
just practice, you’ll get used to it. I’ve been playing trumpet with braces for 3 years and it’s definitely not the best but if you wanna play your gonna have to learn to deal with it.
@@jtinthehouse6672no cap whenever I had braces I was playing higher than I can without braces
Why is it that I can hit above high C, or even double G if I use more upper lip?
I played the high note on a trumpet accidentally
Nah man, I think I just need a different reed
I’ve been playing trumpet for 3 months now self taught but I can’t seem to get above a high c, any tips?
Playing louder? You mean with more air velocity, you can play high and soft
How do you deal with back pressure, wheneverI finish jazz tunes it makes me feel like I’m about to stroke out
Use less force. You’re likely overblowing.
he looks dead inside no emotion behind those eyes
Sounds like projection to me Jaxon :)
I really hope you're friends, because... ugh. A pithy phrase i came up with to buffer my innate snarkiness & not be absolutely unbearable to the world around me is that *Every thought doesn't need/warrant/deserve a voice; 'is it WORTH saying?' This may likely be lost on you, but for anyone who isn't hoping to add to the world's gloom, I hope this helps.
