When I started the mod I didn’t even play until I checked out all the interesting houses, for like a couple hours I would see some houses n cross check with the asoiaf to see if they were important and that led me to play a lot of minor houses so Yh pls make a vid on houses
Yeah, using CK3's map system to explain who is who and what is what in each kingdom. He could even use it to describe the animosity between houses and such
>Excited to play >Pick Rhaegar just to see what I can get into >Fighting the Usurper in a war with Aerys II >Remember I'm next in line to the throne >Successful murder scheme to kill Aerys II >Become King and change lifestyle to warfare >Gain ability to challenge people to 1v1 duels >Duel and kill Robert >Stannis takes Robert's place in the war >Stannis loses his allies and eventually surrenders >Realm is at peace Did that in less than an hour, I want to see if I can take over everything as Ned Stark.
On my first playthrough of this, Cersei got executed by Robert, Tywin died of some illness, and Tyrion married and had kids. I'm so excited for the Essos update. Hopefully they can make it so "republic" leaders are playable like Venice, Genoa etc in CK2.
in my playthrough, I decided to play as Aerys and I WON THE WAR SOMEHOW. Now it's just juggling vassal opinion and trying to not die of stress and quell budding rebellious factions.
to be honest, it seems winning the war as Aerys is very easy (did it on my first try on Ironman). Honestly a little disappointed, but the mod is great.
It's incredible what a bunch of fans will do to make an idea come true. This what i would expect a AAA asoiaf game to be like. congratulations to the team
I rambled for about 2 hours and edited this down to 20 minutes, but in my uncut footage I say the same thing. This feels like an actual AAA ASOIAF game, it's crazy
Of course it does also build on a (imo) already great game, but it's still impressive, especially with the really nice holdings and the music. This mod is mind blowing and it's still in beta.
in ck2 I spent 4000+ hours playing as Aurane Waters, became king of the Stepstones and went east to conquer Essos, the furthest I got was taking all the Free Cities and established New Valyria
"We are the Poland of this place" is honestly the most accurate description of Riverlands I've heard: - Pretty much all flatlands with lots of rivers and lakes. - Constantly invaded by basically all its neighbours. - Has the largest castle on the continent. - Family oriented and generally quite religious culture.
I think the rankings are mostly consistent with what is intended in the books, there is no emperor title in westeros because we get that title from the Roman Empire and its Valyrian equivalent was a Freehold, also there was no Persia to get the King of Kings. Also all the Lords paramount ruled Kingdoms before Aegon's conquest, so they were not demoted, they simply surrendered their royal titles to Aegon (except, notably for Dorne). So they are still kingdom tier realms, and its still called the Seven Kingdoms. When Lords paramount visit Essos their diplomatic rank is as a King, just not independent. And the Iron Throne is a High King or as we would call it an Emperor tier.
12:35 - yeah, the mod team really have to bang their heads against the wall to deal with George's shortcomings in a number of places, hence why so many minor lords are given count tier, just because there's literally no other info on who rules the area. On the bright side, it means that it is easier to play as all of these named characters, which you couldn't do if they were baron-tier or landless.
A roleplay series with a smaller house’s kind of rise to fame would be amazing, especially with your knowledge of the world - would be really immersive
I know this is an old comment, but that is the only way I play. One of my favorite playthroughs was as house Pemford and rebuilding Oldstones thus leaving my minor lord/family the strongest castle in the game save for the Rock and the Eyrie.
You missed in Oldtown either a Septon or Maester who is clearly an homage to George R. R. Martin in either the Starry Sept or Citadel. The best part is they low key roasted him with the depiction of his character.
I love this mod so much, glad you're covering it. And yes, I'd love for you to go through the houses. I agree with Stannis being asexual, I always viewed his relations with Melisandre as a duty and power thing and not a sexual attraction thing. I do agree with your take on Hightowers though.
13:50 : fun fact why I love this mod is for the devs and the submod that works very well and there is one that add castles and event (COW)- I suggested to the author to implant Ironrath and he did it (he add for example the Arbor and Castamere) so now we have Ironrath and buffs for Forrester. That's details like that, and soon dragons, that made me love the mod more than base ck3 ; same for CK2.
4:42 YO BAELORISM SOUNDS SO GOOD! It honestly makes sense that something like that would exist, considering how much Baelor the Blessed was obsessed with the Faith of the Seven. May just have to download the mod to make a character whose Baelorist.
I didn't catch the Cold Gods setting until this video, one of my first runs is definitely going to be attempting to convince Westeros to welcome our new icy overlords.
Great vid!! I love all your videos! The editing (and the animations) is great and the humour is spot on! I don't know why but the "i make joke" edit killed me xd. Also, your voice is quite soothing? In a way? Anyway, great stuff, keep it up
The mod has recently been updated to include dragons. I likely would have stopped playing CK3 years ago, but for this mod. Absolute gold. I recently did a playthrough where I RPGed as a surviving son of the Reynes of Castamere, a grandson of Robert Reyne returning at the 284 AC start date. Great fun absolutely wrecking the Lannisters, executing Tywin and Kevan and reestablishing the Red Lions of Reyne as supreme. As far as your comments on why certain characters would likely be better as barons instead of county tier, I agree, but then you would not be able to play those characters. CK3 the base game does not allow a baron to be player controlled. This cannot be modded away so that is why I think the mod creators made those characters county tier. Also, I know you were joking with the Umber and "the emperor in the North" bit, but that is actually how the mod handles it. When one of the seven kingdoms becomes independent, they also become an empire tier title. This is so that the AI NPC Lords Paramounts, now Kings, don't just immediately get vassalized by the Iron Throne. This was apparently a problem previous versions where, let's say you were playing as the Mormonts and helped a Stark become the King in the North again, the AI would bug out and become part of the Iron Throne, because it was it's DeJure higher tier title. Making it another Empire tier title prevents this as equal titles cannot be liege lords of each other (the Umbers couldn't vassalize the Manderlys for example without revoking their title of White Harbor).
The ck2 mod made by the same people is a gem of the modding scene of that game and a game of its own, it's really fun, I can definetly see this becoming the best CK3 mod as both the game and the mod update (the next upcoming update to ck3 will introduce character travel, instead of characters telaporting from winterfell to king's landing to attend a grand tourney, they'll actually travel down to the capital, having to take route and terrain into account, which means following the kings road with a good retinue, if you want to reach there alive and in time)
I think the Baron tier lands are supposed to be Landed Knights, that’s what one of the developers said in the mod server at least. Also have you ever thought of maybe doing a animated story of one of your play throughs? Might be interesting!
About the silvery hightower hair - we do know the hair colour of three Hightowers: We know that Alicent Hightower was mistaken for Saera Targaryen (implying that they looked similar enough for Jaehaerys I); Alerie Hightower is straight-up described to have silvery hair in her 30s and we know that her sister Lynesse has silvery-golden hair based on Ser Jorah saying that Dany looks a lot like Lynesse and based on Maege Mormont reminiscing about her. Now sure, could these three Hightowers all just randomly spawn silvery hair? Perhaps. But I'd say that three people from the same dynasty having the similar looks in the series where all families have a trademark look - thats enough for me to say that silver hair is common in House Hightower
As you're so familiar with the lore it would be great if you could do a video on all the minor houses in the game, since a lot of people are constantly looking for interesting playthrough ideas!
This video hit my side bar cause I play CK, but idk anything about GoT at all! Would be fun to watch a playthrough where you explained their lore as you go through the campaign for sure
The names in house Forrester are the ones from the Tell Tale game. Unfortunately you can't download that game anymore. Only way to play it is to get the physical copy.
Haven was just incorrect here. Septas are indeed supposed to be heavily inspired by feudal Catholic nuns who had this caretaker/educational role for communities as well as noble families. They were also leaders of certain monastic orders, but they couldn't conduct certain religious ceremonies. The books seem to follow this. Septas don't appear to give sermons like septons do. They can't conduct marriage ceremonies. They also can't hold certain power positions like the high septon.

Well yeah but the limitation of the game is what limits the feudal system here. You can’t really make a change to it. I mean we still have fun role playing it anyway
The character sexualities are random for the most part. It's an issue from the base game. Only the specified ones stay the same. It changes with every update.
