That's awesome! Here where I live in India I really don't have the time to wear saris but I really wish I could because they have a really lovely way of complementing lots of body types! screw the haters, us Indians are happy that you appreciate our national dress~
YESSS! Ranveer's been constantly serving for years now! We need a video on this Luke! He's sadly trolled for his eccentric fashion a lot but no one does it like him!
Some corrections, its Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla not Khosia. Its Rahul Mishra (the brand name) not just Mishra. The french brands mostly use Indian Embroiderers for their embroidery. There is no upstaging an Indian bride, in fact if you dont dress to the nines the bride will be disappointed and unhappy. The outfit Deepika is wearing is a saree not lehenga, the performance outfit of Nita Ambani isalso a saree, just draped differently than the "most common way", theres infinite ways to drape a Saree.

Not an Indian, but I have come across Ranveer on the internet and I believe he has a crazy reputation when it comes to red carpet lol. I would like to see your opinion on him.
He also just has a reputation as a fun person in general. XD But, yeah, his fashion is also extremely him. If he wore even slightly less color, one day, someone would ask if he was feeling unwell😂😂
21:26 Deepika's red saree isn't just a red saree. It is a red Bandhani saree which is very important to a lot of Gujarati and Kutchi communities. It is a common sight to see all immediate family ladies of the bride and groom to wear a red Bandhani saree with the traditional golden border. While Deepika's saree is a, imo, modern mix with the traditional Bandhani, I think it really highlights Bandhani as a textile which is very necessary. (Also, her being pregnant when this photo was taken is just an added hint that most of us missed 😂)
You're among the rare fashion critics/influencers who demonstrate that critiquing fashion can be done constructively and respectfully, without resorting to passing MEAN comments. And when you give compliments, you never fail to admire minute details of the outfit, the designer, the stylists and the person wearing that outfit. 👌
7:19 Sheer amount of jewellery? For an Indian bride, that's a minimalist look. Also, since the bride and groom are elevated so much in every ritual in Indian weddings, the concept of underdressing at someone else's wedding doesn't really exist in India. The family might actually feel slightly sad if you underdress. They'll feel they are not important to you. Also, Indian weddings belong to the bride and groom but the importance of the occasion for friends and family is also recognized.
The Asians are different to people in the West. Just read the book and watch the movie called Crazy Rich Asians to learn how they don't do "classy understated," the new generations brag about their wealth in social media and weddings are especial occasions.
Funfact: They spent about 120 million USD on the PRE-WEDDING ALONE. They're actual wedding is set to happen in July so i can't even imagine the money they'll splurge on the actual wedding lol
It's the least expensive wedding of India as a father normally invests half of his income Savings for their child's wedding but Ambani just spent some 1% of his networth..so the cheapest wedding😅:)
It happened recently. They spent jaw dropping 600M$ on the wedding. It took the social media hype storm. Everyone was there, from beiber to kardashians to john cena😂❤
You know you're a TRUE fashion lover when you don't shy away from non-American events. Also, I love that you appreciate ethnic clothing because I think Indians are taking it
As Indian people we are expected to dress and dress WELL.It's offensive if we don't. Also, I believe Nita Ambai's red sari she wore to the dance was a zari sari, the threads were actually real gold. I think, from the look and movement that is what it seems like. I think unlike the west, Indian clothes put more emphasis on materials used and technique and not necessarily silhouettes. Because all the silhouettes are the same more or less. The jewelry also should be worn as a support to your clothes.
So fun to see you make videos about India! My husband in Indian and we just got back from our tirp to India where we got married the weekend after the Ambani pre-wedding week. My wedding ceremony lehenga was actually a Manish Malhotra (I didn't pick it- I actually didn't pick any of my outfits my in-laws did LOL) so it was cool to see that he designed a lot of the Ambani outfits.
Oh in Indian weddings you show up and show out!! The bride is so much the centre of attention that they are not worried about being upstaged. It is even considered insulting if you don't show up in your best jewellery and dresses. A wedding is akin to a festival 🎉
I know exactly nothing about Indian designers or clothing. I LOVED this. Seeing shapes, fabrics, and ensembles that Westerns don’t wear is enchanting. More, please!
I don't think that Isha is over doing it. They both have huge amount of money so it's not like Radhika can't afford to go for larger than life looks. I think it's just what their style is.
@16:49 Nita Ambani is wearing a silk sari which is wrapped differently. Remember a sari is usually about 6 yards long. In this style of wrapping, it is tied like a traditional sari with pleating to the front which is tucked in and continues to be tucked in all the way to hip then the end is pleated, draped on the shoulder which leaves a draped piece of pleated fabric from the hip up to the shoulder at the back which you can't see in this pic. A 360 view of this wrapping is absolutely beautifully elegant and very easy to move in once the piece over the shoulder is properly secured.
I’ve been watching “say yes to the dress India” and I’m in love with the beautiful embroidery and colors! It’s not unusual for the men to wear pink. It’s sort of a “light red” in Indian clothing.
My older cousin is getting married in April & she sent me extra money to buy this absolutely gorgeous lehenga I really loved because it was way out of my budget 😭 Indian brides are probably a bit different from many cultures, in the sense that they want all their friends and family to SHOW UP AND SHOW OUT. Sometimes they hire a makeup artist & hair stylist, not only for themselves but for their close friends & family too. We don't have the concept of "upstaging the bride". The bride wants all the girlies to look their best! I absolutely love this about Indian weddings. It's just a celebration & you all get to have fun. No matter what you do, the bride will not care & she will still be the centre of attention because she's well... the one getting married haha I think because we're a collectivist society, we value the fact that people invited to our wedding also have a blast.
Luke! You have to visit India! Go see the embroiderers at work: amazing to see their techniques for transferring the designs onto fabric, the teamwork on large frames of silks, the sari walla/cloth shops, the custom designs you can order for yourself!! All the different sari weaves from various regions. Just so much more than even makes it on to U.S. screens! Seriously textile tour to India is my dream for you!
I have gasped so often that i am light headed. The work that went into these garments...i mean. The jewelry, the make up, the gorgeousness of every individual. Just gob-smacking. Stunning, all of it.

@@Vik-chic I thought the same in the beginning when i first heard about this family back in 2018. I read an article where jt said that he suffers from asthma and has to take steroids to properly function. I dont know to what extent this is true or not but these people suffer from a lot of health problems. Sometimes the medicine works sometimes it doesn't, same as us common folks. Judging people is easy. I have seen myself some people have an extremely difficult time losing weight. Sometimes hormonal issues, sometimes thyroid problem including many more. Maybe he is lazy and doesn't work out. Who knows. But before judging others we should see what problems are the cause of this. Thanks🙏 (Also I am not defending his obesity. It is very dangerous to be obese and poses more health issues. This is for ppl who excessively eat and dont work out)
To me it’s strange when people spend so much money/efforts on their look instead of thinkinking about their health first. For some it’s easier to buy diamond buttons than to hire a private trainer and nutritionist.
@ma-cr2to, Thanks you for a reply. I don't judge, I rather wish health & common sence to them. If I start being critical, I would say that it would be better to built a hospital and a couple of schools with all that crazy money instead of one luxury cetemony. I visited north of India this February and saw how much poverty and hard manual labor there was. I personally adore chic outfits and jewelry, but now I think that the best outcome of this pre-wedding is giving "bread and rice" for numerous executors of outstanding hand embroidery for that gowns.
Its crazy how i got to know recently how others shouldn’t overshadow the bride! Like seriously? As an Indian, luckily we never had that problem, guests are expected to wear their best outfits, or else the hosts won’t be happy, lol. Bride groom anyways are going to get all the attention irrespective of what others are wearing, glad indians aren’t that insecure when it comes to this. Guess what many even wear their own wedding dress at others wedding which is so normal.
I hope someday I'm invited to any part of an Indian wedding celebration because these looks are jaw dropping. I'm in love with the textiles and colors. And the energy that all these looks show is incredible.

FUN FACT : India is the country who started "THE GLOBAL FASHION TREND" with CHINTZ (Its original term was CHEENT but since British could not pronounce it so it became CHINTZ). It was imported from India by all the countries so much that they(British) have to ban it. Then they tried to replicate it but only to be unsuccessful buy creating a substandard quality. Hence it lost it popularity.
Neeta ambani is a trained classical indian dancer who has given many beautiful traditional setup performances. That particular artform is called bharat-natyam which is a culturally rich form of expressional dance. If you like Ranveer Singh, you’ll love his looks😂 he’s known for going all out with all his looks, on a daily basis. He wears the most outrageous clothes.
Indian wedding ceromonies ensure spotting bride and groom even from a mile away, so we never heard crazy concept of guests to under dress😂. Just like how one tidies up their house when expecting guests, we Indians attend in our best during weddings.
Kurta - Usually is a pull-over lighter weight shirt. I believe what he's wearing is a Sherwani - formal coat. The cropped top is a choli or usually just called a blouse. But, it's all fabulous to look at and dream about. Thanks for this treat.
In India technically the bride doesn’t wear white for the wedding. Traditionally the bride wear Red ( considered an auspicious colour ) but these days the brides wear pink , mauve or golden colour.

Indian outfits are just as much, if not more practical as any western clothing. You just have to google videos of Indian women doing practically everything from dancing and riding motorcycles to doing calisthenics in sarees. And the best most practical thing about them is that it's not tailored, so anybody can wear it and pieces get handed down to or inherited down many generations.

Nita Ambani's emerald necklace was 500 crores. 😢 Also, the first outfit of anant you talked about was a sherwani. Its a traditional indian suit. The top and lehnga both would look pretty if she didn't go "i wanna show my bust without dupatta even though this blouse is not suitable". Dupatta hanging on the side is fine when the blouse has a different cut and suitable work on it. Hers was not.

Yeah,.. simple dressing is a symbol of not being interested or close enough to the bride/groom. Everyone expect to be dressed their best.
It means that you ar not happy to attain to the wedding.. A well dressed women with fine jewellery means she is happy and enjoying the wedding😂😂
It’s not just in India, most countries that have an obsession with appearance usually. It’s also a money thing, where you show how close you are to the person by dropping more money on clothes and make up. I’m lebanese and can confirm haha
true, i have never ever herd of Indian bride being upset that someone else upstaged her
its a day of celebration we all wanna look like godesses..and its just that..our traditional clothings are just..simply..grand..and gorgeous on its own..so yea..can't help but dress up well for indian wedding..but why we will not outshine the bride is because the bride will always have a distinct bridal look no matter what..for example the veil on the head..and even the saree style its more traditional..you dont see radhika showing her boobs and all because that attire is a typical traditional attire...we indians just know its a bridal wear when we see..There's so many variation to it but when we see it we just know it. haha, I'm Malaysian indian btw
I have been wearing saris for over 40 years. As a white Canadian born girl, I got laughed at a lot. I appreciate their flow and ease of wear. I have a collection of over 30. I don’t care what others think. I wear my saris because I love them. It’s nice to see others starting to appreciate their beauty.
Please keep India videos coming.
I like your ombré shirt.
Thank you.

They’re so comfortable when you get the hang of wearing them.. I love their flowy drape
Oh so sweet.. It feels so good of u being foreigner love Indian attire.... As Indian I say Indian attires specifically sarees makes u stand out in crowd.....
That's awesome! Here where I live in India I really don't have the time to wear saris but I really wish I could because they have a really lovely way of complementing lots of body types! screw the haters, us Indians are happy that you appreciate our national dress~

You summed it up perfectly!

And when you give compliments, you never fail to admire minute details of the outfit, the designer, the stylists and the person wearing that outfit. 👌
I love that Luke is so genuinely excited for the great outfits. His face just lights up when we get FA-SHUN moment and I love it.

Also, Indian weddings belong to the bride and groom but the importance of the occasion for friends and family is also recognized.
fr ive seen guests wear double that jewellery in most weddings
The Asians are different to people in the West. Just read the book and watch the movie called Crazy Rich Asians to learn how they don't do "classy understated," the new generations brag about their wealth in social media and weddings are especial occasions.
That set is enough to fund lives of many indians 😂 doubt she's comparable to normal indian brides
More /= good. That is a heavy necklace anyways. Not imitation jewelery that indian people wear in weddings 😂😂
you guys are forgetting that this ist NOT the wedding, but just the pre event.
Don't worry Brow u Don't have to pay for it 😊
@SajetKumar-mn9lr 1% seriously?

fun fact , that necklace is worth around 300 crores = 35 million dollars approx.
OMG thank you for covering this wedding! I've been dying to do a fashion breakdown on it because everyone looked amazing at this wedding
Ranveer Singh is wearing a Sherwani, that coat is called a Sherwani
Achkan actually
Sherwani: longer coat expending below the knees
Wheras achkan: not longer than knees. They are shorter than sherwaani...
🎉
Damn your husband must be rich rich because Manish Malhotra is expensive af

6 yards, not 6 feet :)

I’ve been watching “say yes to the dress India” and I’m in love with the beautiful embroidery and colors! It’s not unusual for the men to wear pink. It’s sort of a “light red” in Indian clothing.

My older cousin is getting married in April & she sent me extra money to buy this absolutely gorgeous lehenga I really loved because it was way out of my budget 😭
Indian brides are probably a bit different from many cultures, in the sense that they want all their friends and family to SHOW UP AND SHOW OUT. No matter what you do, the bride will not care & she will still be the centre of attention because she's well... the one getting married haha
I think because we're a collectivist society, we value the fact that people invited to our wedding also have a blast.
Just feel the need to point out that the buttons on the first kurta Anant was wearing were in fact diamonds.
women are so beautiful, men are so rich .....
Luke! You have to visit India! Go see the embroiderers at work: amazing to see their techniques for transferring the designs onto fabric, the teamwork on large frames of silks, the sari walla/cloth shops, the custom designs you can order for yourself!! The reason the SIL was stunning extra extra hard was that the grooms side family is the UBER wealthy family and they have to show that.

Thanks🙏
(Also I am not defending his obesity.
Sorry, I’ve deleted my first comment by mistake.

As an Indian, luckily we never had that problem, guests are expected to wear their best outfits, or else the hosts won’t be happy, lol.

It was imported from India by all the countries so much that they(British) have to ban it. Then they tried to replicate it but only to be unsuccessful buy creating a substandard quality. Hence it lost it popularity.

You should make a whole video about Ranveer's style. He is so eccentric! He is unique.

Nita Ambani's emerald necklace was 500 crores. 😢
Also, the first outfit of anant you talked about was a sherwani. Its a traditional indian suit.
Another thing 😂 the outfit nita Ambani wore for her dance is also a saree just worn in a different way. The draping is what we call a seedha palla instead of an ulta palla which is what you'll usually see.
