$250 is what it costs me to get precut ceramic film from flexfilm only. At my local tint shop, they wanted me to pay $180 just for my front windshield. If I charged $250 for rear windshield and four doors, I would go nowhere in the window tint business. Thanks for your video, Ralph.
Do you recommend using cheap film like single ply to start the business ? I only have 1,000$ to start and want to make sure I buy the right film do you get multiple sizes of each one ? What do you recommend for first timers starting their own business in California. Also how much does business slow in winter ?
@@CKPHH That's insane, but she's probably in LA. In South Florida, Huper Optik is $475. $650 if you want the windshield done, which is almost mandatory considering the heat. She's not wrong, that's what people charge out there.
Wow that is way overpriced a roll of tint only cost about $27..the maximum I would charge for people that I can even afford it its 2:50 and I'm still making a huge profit
The maximum tinting job is $250 up in Washington State.. and this area people make pretty good money but you got to charge them a fair price considering I can do five vehicles a $27 roll of tint
I was quoted $139 for my civic coupe for every window including the windshield and sunroof with premium carbon tint. I've always had ceramic on my cars but $300 is half of what I paid for the car lmao. I know right now with everything going on some shops may be desperate for work I just don't want to have to be redoall the windows again in 2 years. Does that price sound good?
WTF... Do y'all not want a person to make any sort of living? with that price how cone anyone afford the heat or AC let alone shop, insurance, employees. My gawd why not offer the install some left over dinner from a garbage can from the back of mc donalds??
Ralph Van Pelt Charge what you know your work is worth and don’t worry about the competition. I don’t care about that guy working out of his mama’s garage tinting cars for $99. I don’t care about the guy with the fancy shop charging $600 for Llumar CTX. I know what I bring to the table and what I’m worth. If I can convey that to the customer effectively I will do fine. Great videos Ralph. I’m always trying to learn more. You’re a great source of information even if we don’t always agree.

150 for ceramic tinted is what I've paid. Tint film isn't expensive.. I've laughed at people paying for a simple job in West Los Angeles, business I've went to for last 35 years is packed all the the time with clients driving in from quite a distance. @Iguana 99 It is usually rare unless there is an existing problem with how the lines are bonded to the glass from the factory or they just scrape them off with a razor blade which is unnecessary unless the car is very old and the film is baked on from years of exposure.

The pricing is getting out of control!!! It went from $150 for cheap film to $350 and on top film from $350 to now $750 and now $1,000 if you want the windshield included in Denver. I'm not going to pay that, I rather order pre cut ceramic film for $150 and do it your self.

what about an individual whom has an older car that is almost impossible to tint because no matter the amount of prepping you do it still comes out less than average and they end up being dissatisfied? Or would you charge that customer way over average price which would turn them away from the job entirely?
JWISE Good question... I think it depends on your business model. Some new businesses or businesses that are in challenged areas probably need any and every car they can get. More established businesses in better markets may not have the time to spend on cars like that.

JWISE, just my two cents, I live in Southeast Ga., and my issue is the 4x4 trucks that show up brand new to get windows done, and there is mud and dirt all over the truck because the tires stick out of the fenders like 4 inches, my final answer to my situation is, I will not put my name or company rep on a bad tint job, so if you bring me a filthy truck, and want a $175 tint job, I'll charge you $300 to clean your truck, or you can bring it back clean. I know this don't answer your specific question. But my idea is this, is that $150 tint job on a 25 year old vehicle worth people seeing trash in your work, and possibly hurting your reputation, because people don't look at things with reason, only a Tinter knows how much trash is really in the seals of a window, and your average Joe is just gonna see the trash and bad mouth your name.
