  • Getting the brake lines fitted and filling up with fluid, also being mugged off by a tiny hole being blocked.

    Awesome job.
I have a few ZXR750 H models that I've restored but unlike yourself I tend to restore them sympathetically with original parts that are in good condition for sure but certainly have patina on them.
Main reason being these bikes can be vast money pits as you know.
But yes if money wasn't a problem I'd spend spend spend.
Can I be cheaky and ask how much have you have spent on this awesome KR1S.
    Take care fella.
I'm in Cheshire UK by the way.

I didn’t keep count on costs as most of the bits I did my self, I got a load of bits basically everything except a frame and engine from a friend of a friend for £280 and I brought a ex track bike off flea bay for £900. The paint was a mate and it was £600 powder coating some bits £100 plating parts £90, barrels replated £260 pistons £130 and so on.. I think it’s under £3k and it’s worth £8.5k at todays prices.

Yes I thought ...even on the cheap you would have still paid a few grand.
In hind sight I should have chosen two strokes to restore rather than those cumbersome ZXR'S that I have...
To say these ZXR'S are tempremental is an understatement...
Two strokes are so much easier to work with.
      But anyways...
I do enjoy looking at my bikes with a beer in hand sat on a seat.
I always thought the KR1S was ugly when compared to the RGV or NSR.
I remember back in the day ...
Seeing an NSR250 with a clear plastic fairing, it was original honda plastic with original decals ...it also had a credit card style ignition switch... This was about 1990 and i contemplated buying it...
I mean ... A clear plastic fairing... How hyper mega rare was that...
And how much would that be now...
      Anyways...
      Sadly I didn't buy it...
GOD has indeed blessed me regardless...
I never wanted the world ...
And by my own reckoning ...I'm an over achiever...
Enjoy your life what left of it we have.

New subscriber here,,there is a product on the market for restoring yellowed plastic that works really well ,I’m sure someone will know the name of it. Involves soaking the part in a solution and exposing it to ultraviolet light that comes in the kit ,just thought you might like to know👍🏻

Retro bright a solution and uv light comes in the kit , might save you making your own ,see rr restoration. Vfr 400 rebuild where he rostores his yellowed plastic successfully 👍🏻

Jay, where did you get the brake lines done? May be a silly question but I take it the plating process doesn't.affect the rubber hose?

    • @jaysshed4857
      @jaysshed4857  4 роки тому

Hi Darren, I sent them to the platers.. they are zinc plated with a black passivate. The chemicals and process will not effect the rubber. It’s a bit of a job for them as they have to wire the parts separately.

Well worth giving them the hassle mate, its these kinds of touches that makes the difference. Brilliant job mate. Can I bring my bike to you!! 😁

Jay, i am getting the brakes sorted and they have noticed a hair line crack in the rear brake caliper. Can this be repaired and can u help? John.

Hi John, depends where the crack is. If it’s around the bleed nipple then yes it’s repairable and I could sort that out for you.
