The part about DS9 is exactly what I experienced. It's so hard to get into. TNG and VOY were my entry into the franchise and I was excited about DS9, but I switched to ENT after the first half season, bc I just couldn't get into it. I'll try again soon, tho.
Just watched a scene from TNG, just Picard and Ro talking but what a great performance and dialog, made me want to watch that kind of quality again. I'll try Enterprise, thanks.
At the start of the video I explain why.I don’t really care for them. I’ve watched the animated classic series once but it was many years ago. The new animated shows ( Lower Decks and Prodigy ) I watched one episode of each and gave up on them. Thought they were terrible
#1 TOS #2 TNG #3 Voyager #3 Enterprise I really appreciate your ranking. Agree on Enterprise with Scott Bakula beeing way underrated and was ended way to soon. Voyager should be closer to the top, beeing "trek" in its purest sense. TOS has to be on number one; because.
Yeah I think your ranking is pretty accurate, However I do find TOS the most fun & rewatchable, But TOS & TNG definitely belong in the top2 spots, I’ve tried numerous times giving DS9 a chance including recently, because so many people rank it so highly, But I just don’t seem to feel it, So I would probably place it in a similar position as you, PS DS9 definitely isn’t even close to the heartfelt story and character arcs of Babylon 5!
TOS will always be the best in my opinion as it is the foundation on which the others are based. The dynamic of the Kirk, Spock, and McCoy trio will never be equaled by characters of any other Star Trek series. TNG expanded and built upon the foundation laid by TOS and was a great show in its own right. DS9 and Voyager were just so-so. Voyager especially played it safe and was not groundbreaking like the other series.
yeah.... DS9 should be higher, this means war! =P but honestly when DS9 first came out, I hated it, but one day, years later... I just took my time watching it, I don't think Sisko was the best captain, but the supporting cast was excellent, and it all just came together, every character seemed to matter.. we didn't get that with TNG or other series too much.
DS9 would probably rate higher on my list if it got a proper HD remaster and released on Blu ray.I tried watching some episodes on streaming recently and it just looks so poor compared to the most if the other shows.Doesn’t look like it’s happening any time soon unfortunately
Is it feasible to only watch season 3 of Picard? I cannot stomach a single episode of Discovery or Strange New Worlds so I have held off on even trying Picard.
You can go in to Picard S3 without having to watch the first two seasons. It’s like Star Trek 2 The Wrath Of Khan in the sense that although it is technically a sequel,it completely works as a stand alone story. Believe me I was doubtful as well,I swore after season 2 of Picard I was done but Robert Meyer Burnett recommended it and I’m glad he did. It is a great ( Temporary it seems ) return to form for Star Ttek and I consider it the eighth season of TNG. Give it a watch, you will be glad you did!
A actually love deep space nine but the last 2 seasons went downhill quick my favorite has to be next generations but i havent seen voyager yet. That being said the original is the original
Brendan, that was an excellent summary and the positions are spot on. DS9 is exactly correct, stuck on a space station did not have the feel of TOS or TNG centred around space exploration. Number one spot was a toss up between TNG and TOS, but I agree that TNG gets the nod. TOS had some very weak episodes, like Mudd's Women and Kirk and Spock dressed up as Nazi's in one episode was not amusing. I have not seen the series Discovery or Picard, but the clips on YT seem weak. I liked your comments on Star Trek women! Always liked the characters and actresses for 7 of 9, T'Pol and Uhura. In TOS nearly every episode had a beautiful actress in it and lucky Kirk ended up kissing her.
Thanks! I advise u to skip Discovery completely as well as the first two seasons of Picard but season 3 is a MUST WATCH.I consider it the unofficial eighth season of TNG and a great last hurrah for the entire cast of that show.
Happy to see Enterprise so high :) I should give DS9 a chance, but I’m a B5 fan so there’s a lot of prejudice :D
You can enjoy both! I like DS9 but do think B5 is superior.
Disco was good syfy but it wasn't good Star Trek.
1. TOS
2. SNW
3. TNG
4. VOY
5. ENT
6. DS9
7. DISCO
My ranking is almost the same. But I have TOS at #1, TNG at #2.
TOS is my nostalgic favourite, but the overall quality of TNG just nudges it ahead for me.

Reason you didn't include the animated series?

TNG is so good that I watch it at least three times a week.
