Always gonna love that the team that designed the four judges in Judge Dredd later went on to design Merciless and the Batman Who Laughs in DC comics...
The Batman Who Laughs is in my opinion the best of the new DC characters created in the past five years. He’s the worst possible combination; such an aberration that even the Joker hates him.
Younger people may have only read about the Batman Who Laughs. It's understandable, then, that they would make parallels to something familiar. I'm just glad that there are younger folks out there branching out to the past to learn about the wonders we know.
"This city isssss guilty!" "The crime issss life!" "The sentence isss..." "DEATH!" In my opinion, The Dark Judges are most metal villains in comic history. I finished reading the Fall of Deadworld series and I loved it. I've been morbidly fascinated by Death's origins and how fucked up Deadworld was compared to MC1.
@@narcodium You ignoring the problem is not helping. Whataboutism is the death of man. I support anyone who isn't a slave driver, tax evader, nor tax thief trying to monopolize everything. No, not everyone is cut from the same cloth. Stop making excuses.
Even if they do go through with the tv series. I feel like there will be changes. For example, Sydney will be from Dredds universe and look up to Dredd in a twisted way or be a rival. As for his transition to Judge Death, he will probably be like a diseased-ridden creature of some kind.
Wow u got the timeline in your intro so ridiculously wrong. The apocalypse war occurred after WWIII when the judges has been in power for decades. The day of chaos which occurred after the Apocalypse war didn't create judges in the aftermath because again they had been in power for close to 100 years by then .The economy didn't really collapse after the Sov block initiated Apocalpyse war or the day of chaos as MC1 has always been basically a welfare state with 95% unemployment. In fact the rebuilding gave a lot of jobs to people. Also judges aren't clones. Judge Dredd and his brother Rico were clones, but this program was abandoned not long after and almost all judges are inducted into the academy as children, giving up their previous lives and family completely.
JUDGE DREED, interesting comc from the 80s and 90s I also liked to read the stories of A.B.C. WARRIORS were amazing stories of robot battles and futuristic vigilantes with the drawings of BRIAN BOLLAND, MIKE MCMAHON AND SIMON BYSLEY.
I think ABC Warriors is still going on but it's lost its flare. The best was definitely the Black Hole. Always have a blast looking at that sweet inkwork from the Biz.
off-topic, but i had the absolute pleasure of seeing that new Dredd movie in 3D. everyone who hated 3D shoulda seen Dredd in 3D. maybe some of the only good use of 3D ever, but showed it was possible
That's why I don't like the remake of the Dredd movie. At least the Stalone movie had SOME comic characters besides Dredd. I mean, why waste time making a Dredd movie if the antagonist is gonna be a measly druglord? Where are the Dark Judges? And Anderson was a joke, with not even close to her psychic powers from the comics, and so was not Anderson.
What is the title of the comic book where the young Sid develops into Judge Death, with his father playing a role? That looks like an awesome, dark story.
i might be wrong here, its been a couple of years since i read any Dredd comic but u do recall not all judges are clones but natural born humans that their parents give into the academy to start training at a very young age, basically a human donation
Wow, it only took 12 seconds for you to be wrong: "The comic book series 2000 AD revolves around a futuristic city named Mega-City One" - Really? Rogue Trooper revolves around Mega-City One? ABC Warriors? Strontium Dog? Flesh? Judge Dredd, *one comic strip that runs in 2000AD* revolves around Mega-City One.
Basically its the usual trope in superhero genre, when a hero version exists...an evil version exists in another so called dimension. A Comic writer's way of implying the philosophy of positive & negative extremes as the inevitable essence of the universe & fabric of existence itself.
Death world sort of reminds me of the mirror universe(s) in Star Trek (Canon) where in many ways the people have an opposite version of themselves like instead of the United Federation of Planets there is the Terran Empire. Though NOT allways as though Spock for example in TOS mirror mirror is a goatee styling fascist/Communist/Imperialist but after mind melting with Bones from the Datum verse decides on trying to become a force for change with mixed results depending how you see it. Though Dead World is definitely a horrifying extreme.
