You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned that feeling you get when using a piece of gear you’ve made yourself. For some odd reason I can’t get my wife to understand that. Over the years I’ve learned to sew, build all Kind of things out of wood from little boxes to kitchen cabinets. I’ve also learned to weld, & use all type of machine tools like lathes, end mills, and thing, plus all kinds of hand tools, & measuring tools. I smith my own arrows, tie my own flys, build my own fishing rods, etc. My wife can’t understand “why I spend so much time learning about things” & I might only need to use that particular skill once or twice. It’s fun, it feels great knowing you don’t need to depend on someone else, & I can pass some knowledge on to my grandkids!

    Great task and nice result.
I’ve still not made or worked out how to make and attach the hood for The MTP MVP Lightweight jacket, got the jacket and pieces.

You sew it to the bottom of the collar, I then cut another piece the same shape as the collar and stitch that over three sides of the original collar. The hood now rolls away into the collar when not in use. The best way to get your head around this is to head to your nearest outdoors/surplus shop and have a look at the waterproof jackets

Well done. Those straps turned out great. I would like your tutorial to be a bit more visual though, instead of all the talking. I think it will make it more interesting. Cheers

Nice wee project, the instructions are nice and simple and takes some of the mystery away from sewing useful kit. Will be trying this out on a lightweight day bag. Cheers.

Another cool video buddy. I do like the DIY videos I'm always interested in doing my own builds and mods. These videos are really good to work out my mods and save me money on kit.

Cool video. I would love to find a replacement aluminum frame for my LK35. I would also like to get an old, beatup pack that I can take apart and make patterns for so I can craft a modern one. Additionally, I have installed a medium Alice pack on my LK35 frame. It is fun to play with combinations. One of my favorite pieces of gear is an Ikea woodstove.

Neil that’s great I have an lk35 and have wanted to change the straps...
FYI make another single strap cutting the foam longer etc and you have a hip belt....👍
