This man's smile throughout this whole reaction is everything. RIP MCA. Beastie forever!
Yeah I had been hoping for a new release after intergalactic for a while until mca died. Was a dark day.
Yup
The best thing about this video - and not lost on a lot of us older GenX kids - is that this was a spoof of all the police dramas of the 70s that we would have seen growing up…. Starsky & Hutch, Mannix, Kojak, etc. They absolutely NAILED that vibe!
AND , according to the the last book, they were trying to save money on production costs, so this is them doing it what ever way they want
"This has been a Quinn Martin production"
If my memory serves me right, they did a spoken word thing on Apple TV+, telling their story. They were renting a house out in California that all these clothes from the 70s in it. That’s where they got the clothes from. Again if my memory serves me right. Either way great group, great song, great video. Their theme song could be Frank Sinatra “I did it my way” 😂🤣
@@ericj4550 you are correct. If you have the book from 2020 is basically the same as the Apples TV special. Only the tv has better pictures
“Root Down” is such a great song and the video is a trip through time seeing where they came from. So good.
Root down and flute loop are two of their best
Root down if you are into hiphop 👍🏻
Root Down's sssssiiiiiick!
Root Down got that shout out to Rammellzee. Also, the video contains Wild Style clips.
Check Skills to Pay the Bills
There's a video of them performing this live on David Letterman back in the '90s. They play all the instruments.
Yes sir 💯 ᕦ😎ᕤ

Yeah, for me, the 1994 live Letterman performance brings the song to another level. Watching everyone playing live, the lyrics getting screamed with super high energy...electric. Might be worth another reaction video at some point.
I was about to say the same thing...giggles 🙂😇

"Paul Revere"
It has a story with great lyrics.
(I always read the lyric video🤣)
This, 100 times this
Paul Revere all the way... follow that up with Brass Monkey
Slow and Low
@@BlasphemousMusic looking for a girl, I ran into I guy. His name was MCA he said Howdy, I said Hi!
Just about the whole Licensed to Ill tape (CD? LOL)
YAAASSSS! I suggest “Shake Your Rump!” Love your reactions.
Vote!
High plains drifter after that.
I think he really needs to hear early beastie boys and this is a great choice
This is the way!!
SHAKE YO RUM-PAH
" High Plains Drifter " is a absolute banger...
And I gotta recommend Pauls Boutique again! Shake Your Rump will get you moving!!
“Look how they walking!”🤣🤣🤣I love how much you love them, they are still bringing joy to the world 35+ years later, they were something special. “Get it together ft. Q-tip” is another amazing song. Keep them coming!
*AGREED* *100%!!*
Sure Shot, Root Down are other Beastie Biys classics
one of the many reasons that I like the Beastie Boys is that no 2 songs are the same and no 2 videos are the same....they don't do cookie cutter things like other artists do (it's a plus that the Beastie Boys play their own instruments)....they're always original and always setting new trends...from "Sure Shot" to "Root Down" to "Shake Your Rump" to "Sabotage" and of course "3 MCs and 1 DJ"....no one compares to these guys! Legends for sure!

It's just uplifting. Beastie boys having fun with their music, having fun with their videos, and in turn us viewers having a good time watching these antics. Not to mention your great reaction! Good vibes all around.
"Hey Ladies" by The Beastie Boys
Just react to everything Beastie Boys have made. Seriously. Start with Licensed to Ill, then do Paul's Boutique, then Check Your Head....
"ROOT DOWN" official video is one of their best and a cool one to watch because of all the old school clips of breakdance moves from back in the day. Gr8 song too.
link to the Beastie Boys official channel and Root Down video here:

Looooooove u laughing ur ass off!
We all did the exactly same thing 🤣
Check out Awesome I Shot That. Beastie Boys live, best shows I have ever been to. Saw them 6 times from 1987 to 2004.
Paul Revere well really any of their songs you cannot go wrong I have every single one of their CDs been to the concerts more times than I can count and really miss them. True Talent
Beastie Boys played by their own rules in hip hop... they played all the instruments on this track. DJ Hurricane ("Fred Kelly" in the music video) did their turntables. This was in 1994... they shot this video playing cops & bad guys w/ wigs and fake mustaches, emulating a 70's cop TV show intro. They said that they were driving around L.A. in a beat-up car w/ a camera, and running around for the scenes, but had no film permit... they were lucky the real cops didn't show up during filming 😂
This record "ill communication" was a great album... Check out 'Root down' ... 'Sure shot' ... 🔥
"Fight For Your Right" opened the door, "Sabotage" tore it off its hinges.
For different listening pleasure check out the audio version of Beastie Boys Book. A beautiful love letter to MCA and an awesome history of the band. Narrated mostly by Mike and Adam. Really exceptional!
Great info. Thanks!
Where could I listen to the audio?
The physical book is great to. So much great art and photos. And little bits where others come into comment and contradict what they’re saying.
The Beasties started as a punk rock band and this song is a throwback to their punk days. Watch them play this song live, they play all the instruments. Fight for Your Right to Party is another punk throwback.
Glad you're loving the Beastie Boys. I got a chance to see them live in NYC in '97. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. But you should react to Hey Ladies next. You'll love that video (although Sabotage is one of the best ever)
just found your channel, just wanted to leave a comment! Keep it up! When this song was released, Mtv had to create a commercial to tell people that the Sabotage video WASN'T a new TV show starring the beastie boys.
The thing about these Beastie Boys is that they are so freaking talented that they can cover any genre of music and make it sound great.
Rap, Rock, Punk, anything. They nail it ever time.
Oh and all that can be on one album.
They even do country music and make it interesting.
I am 30+ years into music and BB's album "I'll Communication" is in my top10-records of all time!! Do yourself a favour, buy it and listen to it! You can't go wrong with that! :-)
Sure shot is my top 10 favorite song of all time.
I went to see The Beastie Boys in 1988 great show, maybe the loudest show I've ever been to! They were the only CD'S that my kids constantly took from my collection. Beastie's are rocking generations of folks.
Anything from the Check Your Head album...one of my favorite recordings ever...u can experience their musical abilities.. bad ass record!
Check out SHAKE YOUR RUMP. Great song and entertaining video.
♥ I can't hear this song without thinking of Star Trek now. Love it!
Yeah. Me too. It was in two of the Chris Pine era movies.
I love your reaction ♥ ❤ please react to more BEASTIE BOYS
Shake your rump
High plains drifter
Sure shot
Root down
Pass the mic
3 mcs and 1 dj
The BEASTIE BOYS are sooooo much fun and soooo creative! Your reaction to them is perfect!!!!
I am sure you already noticed this BUT, listen to Ad Rock and how he phrases the lyric. He is paying guitar and rap/singing this at the same time. Rhythmically, it's very complex. Not many people can get that syncopated vocally and play an instrument at the same time. I'm telling you dude, you want GREAT Hip Hop, check out "Sure Shot". Amazing track with an equally amazing video.
The music video was directed by Spike Jonze and is made to look like a 1970s cop show set in Los Angeles.
Check out the boys on HEY LADIES, GET FUNKY!!
Perfect example of a video that fits the song flawlessly...Although you could easily put together a montage of 70's TV cop shows to this one and it would work. Point is each of their songs is distinctly different (in a genre that to be honest usually gets really repetitive) and the in the videos you can see they are having truckloads of fun.
I watch a lot of reaction videos, and you are by far my favorite!!! Love your positive vibe.
And, I love the variety of music.
You made me tear up a little bit man. Your infectious laugh and smile, made me melt at you enjoying what I heard over 22 yrs ago and keep enjoying to this day. Thank you.
"Girls" is hilarious and a classic.
Check them out on SNL, backing up Elvis Costello, doing "Radio, radio". Shows their musical chops. Very versatile musicians! Pissed off Loren Michaels as well! Great punk moment! Cheers!
Watching you smile makes me smile. Glad you like the Beasties.
I still remember the summer this came out, watching Beach MTV during summer break and the MTV Cabbie commercial thinking this was some new sitcom on TV. Good old days when MTV was still somewhat decent.
"Pass the Mic"
Brings me back to to 96-97 when I was 11-12 years old and chilling and partying because I was hanging out with high school kids and drinking, smoking getting high and going to local concerts and raves
You like their dress up videos? Body Movin is a banger (you will break your body dancing to it) and the video is crazy cos- play.
And Ch-check it out - more costumes.
You gotta find 'sure shot', and ,hey ladies'!!!
Root down!
As much as I love this track, it is the worst/best thing to listen to while driving a car because (and I've observed and participated in this phenomenon many times) it makes your feel like you are a stunt car driver.
You’re reactions are awesome. Love your smile. Thank you for appreciating The Beastie Boys
I love your enthusiasm for the Beastie Boys! As a card-carrying member of Gen X- born in 1974- the Beastie Boys were my childhood & teenage years! They were such amazing artists! They could rap! They could play instruments! They wrote their own music! They were just awesome! Now for another group- that I saw live, with the Beastie Boys at Lollapalooza 1994 & Woodstock 1994……. Have you ever done any reactions to A Tribe Called Quest? If not- you should!
Beastie Boys - An Open Letter to NYC
Get the last book. I believe it came out in 2019. It explains soooo much.
Like the costumes here. They wanted to cut costs on production. So they did it like this. AND they were staying in an old Los Angles mansion for a while.
They found a bunch of old clothes, and decided to make videos with the cloths. That’s the stuff you see in Shake Your Rumpl.
My gfs favorite song.
Got to check out Hey Ladies…..great 70s vibe
Man, YOU HAVE TO check out the live performance video of this, I think it was on Letterman back in like '96 or something.
It's one thing to hear them as a rap group, but seeing them performing and playing all the instruments shows you a different side.
It makes my heart happy that you've discovered the Beastie Boys! I've just subscribed to your channel based on your reactions to them. You rock, man.
Might be my most favorite song of theirs out of the Beastie's excellent discography. That aggressive bass along with the thrashing guitar, followed by the screaming vocals that kick this song into even higher gear is utterly brilliant. It is also helped by a fantastic and entertaining video parodying 70's cop dramas, especially at 4:32 where the car explosion is perfectly timed with a cymbal crash.
As far as their albums go, just about every track on "Paul's Boutique" (1989) is pretty damn good. On each one, they weren't afraid to experiment with different sounds or genre and blend it all together, somehow making it work.
I adore this song because it's such a mash up of soooo many music genres.
First time I've ever heard a bass strummed - and I love it!
Paul revere , the new style, b boy bouillabaisse to name a few, or any song off the first 5 albums oh yeah and Car thief enjoy ,you are so lucky to have never heard the boys before, i wish i could reset and not have heard all the bands you are just hearing for the first time. Have a wonderful journey kid.
Dude, I was born in 84. Caught between Gen X and The Millennials and we ALL KNOW BEASTIE BOYS!! It's part of our growing up!! It don't matter what your skin might say, we all know the rhymes!!
Plain and simple Beastie crossed all lines!
It was only a matter of time...
(And THEN, he discovered that the thing he was expecting... WASN'T what he was expecting. 😎)
The Move by Beastie Boys is good. The original version of Body Movin.
Limerick File
This is what MTV was when I was a kid and teen. Actual music videos.
And all this music without auto tune and a music app. Artists had to Actually have real talent.
This is my favorite Beastie song. Banger.
This guy makes me smile. Such a joyful man.
Beastie Boys have been an all time favorite ever since day one with their own style and lyrics. They are a classic act . Go Dawg
On May 4, 2012, the music world was dealt a crushing blow with the news that Adam Yauch, better known as "MCA" to Beastie Boys fans, had passed away at the age of 47. R.i.P MCA😔 I grew up with B Boy Jamz. Wel miss ya.
"The new style" a must fire fire
Looking down the barrel of a gun, off of Paul's Boutique. That's a solid jam.
They also play all the instruments.BAM
This is my favorite Beastie Boys song. This video is just as good. 1970's cop movie.
You can NEVER go wrong doing a Beastie Boys music video. The visuals are epic. The music is on point. Their hip hop is flawless. True GOATs.
..aaaaand they played all of the instruments on this album too. RIP Adam Yauch.
They are pure hiphop. I love how much the DJ contributes to every song. He’s a true member of the band! They also got better and better after every album! They never got lazy or content! I’m so glad that you got the humor and fun that they have. They do have song about serious subjects but they never lost their ability to get laughs where as some rappers are always trying to be hard.
This video was directed by Spike Jonze, later director of the Jackass movies
They played all the instruments on this song.
This is one of my favorite of theirs
Yess! Love how you get that its all about fun with the Beastie Boys. This video was a send up off all the cop shows they grew up watching. For them, the videos were part of it, setting the vibe. Check out - "Hey Ladies" for a video at a crazy house they were renting in LA.
This video is considered to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest music video ever made. It was directed by Spike Jonze.
The Beastie Boys are legends in hip hop, rock, and punk rock genres.
They along with LL Cool J were the first cataloged artists on Def Jam label.
Go look up Beastie Boys "Sabotage" SNL, they start playing this song then Elvis costello interrupts them to sing radio radio. They did it with him cause he was banned on SNL for sabotaging their own set and playing Radio Radio rather than another PC song. So they sabotaged their own set playing sabotage, to play a song that was used to sabotage SNL back in the 80s. Their wicked smart and funny.
If you want to listen to more recent stuff the Beasties have done: try: _Alive,_ _Ch-Check It Out,_ and _Make Some Noise._ If you want more old school stuff, look up _Pass the Mic,_ _Gratitude,_ and _Shadrach._ (the abstract artist version)
These are all fantastic songs which also have music videos.
Fun fact: Each Beastie Boy plays an instrument on this song (and most of the album) Super talented dudes. Such a great song! Keep the vids comin’ ✌️
Beasties are the best thing you're country has given me❤️🏴
I write it once - Fight for your right /revisited/ aka Make Some Noise - half hour film version. Just look at the cast 💥 and the story... Maaaan 🤣🤣🤣
Check out “hey ladies,” “sure shot,” “triple trouble,” and “shake your rump” by the Beasties! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pretty sure that The Beastie Boys were referring to today when they performed it back in the 90's
ty for making me smile. I love your genuine reactions !
I grew up in NY in the 80's and remember getting ready for school listening to Licensed To Ill album every morning always got me fired up! Lol Paul Revere will not disappoint! Great reaction!!
Hey Adogg! New to the channel I’m feeling your reactions! Beastie boys are the greatest rap group ever IMO. they were literally there at the beginning and you see how much they created that was/is used by so many people later. I watch a certain reactor who thinks Nicki Minaj has copied some of their groove. You got to do ‘Paul Revere’ and then you got to do ‘High Plains Drifter.’ Both amazing songs that tell stories.
saw them live twice within 2 months in 1998. Two of the best days of my life.
Gotta check out Beastie Boys ‘Root Down’ the video pays homage to old school hip hop with lots of breakdancing and graffiti.
I love this song especially when it's on the Star Trek movie when they bust through the swarm.
It's pretty cool to watch you fall head over heels for the Beasties!
If you remember 70s cop shows, this is a such a great parody. The music just takes it over the top.
I'm sure someone has informed you previously, but they play their own instruments. They started as a Punk band and transitioned [right away] to Rap; sampling much of their own beats.
Sabotage is a masterpiece! Beastie Boys for ever - RIP MCA!!!
The 90s. Gen X was gifted with the most epic decade for music ever. Beastie Boys was on short rotation through it all.
Great one. Everyone played this back in the day.
They mixed what was then a brand new street beat hiphop with high energy punk and rock to make something that at the time no others were doing. With rap like flow and dynamic bass lines it was fun to listen to and made you move. The lyrics and antics of the boys was funny, ill-reverent, but still had a message and social commentary. Plus They sparked a wave of fashion that is still with is today, made bad urban skateboarding cool and took fake gold chains to another level.
So glad you reacted to this, your intergalactic reaction was great, and loved the Toby Keith
I borrowed “Raisin’ Hell” by RunDMC and “Licensed to Ill” by the Beastie Boys from the library right after they got the records (back before CDs were they primary form of album enjoyment), and RunDMC set a high bar that the ‘Boys almost met… almost. Just to set the time frame for when their first album hit the hip hop scene. I was the first person to borrow both.
