Much of what you see in this video is unrecognizable today. The stations have been renovated, the train fleet is more stable and less shaky, and the window that you were filming out of is no longer included on newer trains in favor of giving the train operators a larger cab. Also, the B train no longer operates on that particular line in Brooklyn, which is now covered by the D train. Thank you for sharing this, it’s truly a time capsule.
Sunday June 3,1990 After We Wrapped Up The 8th Annual Children's Miracle Network Telethon Was Held On FOX 5 In New York At 205 East 67th Street In New York City.
Good to see Broadway-Lafayette Street from 1990. The one thing I noticed that the staircases that led to the abandoned east mezzanine wasn't covered. Come next year, that mezzanine will no longer be abandoned.
1990 I was 4 years old and living in Long Island at the time. Mastic Beach/Shirley area. Also the year saw my first movie at a movie theater!! Where has time gone!!
this video brings back many memories, i couldve easily bn on this train with u lolz... i was 6 yrs old and used to ride back to my house in bk from manhattan every weekend... great video
Brings memories of the R40's when running on the B to which should of been on today to the West End. Stations though should of never been touched. Wow what memories.
Nice work! Its good to see the B train running on the its former line down on West End. But now it runs on the Brighton line to Brighton Beach. The Q and B run the Brighton line and the D train runs on West End. Once again great job on the video.
@@SaschaSass Yeah, in 1990 there were 2245 murders, the most ever recorded in nyc. Over the next decade it drastically declined, with there being only 673 by 2000.
same here buddy; I used to be 7 years old , good old days, used to take B or D from Dekalb (which was apparently one of the scariest back then lol) to 20th and Bay park way, good old days man, seriously miss those days, lots of memories
@liveshowgrlz Yeah, you're probably right. The same thing would happen to that boy in "Sleepless in Seattle" who forgot his rucksack on the top of the Empire State building .. ;)
@SaschaSass Anyway nice and interesting video. I stumbled upon a website today that sells hidden webcams that you can clip on to your clothing, one that's also an mp3 player with a hidden cam and even a hidden cam on sunglasses that I'm interested in buying to tape the general public or something like you did in this video. You're still in New York/
I just made the video but if you look at the other comments below you'll see that lots of others say that this is the old B line. "This was back in the day. This is a block away from me. I miss the B and M running down the ol West End line."

I liked this train look the most. Later on would drink in between cars while going over the bridge. Miss those days !!!

This is the most dangerous year in nyc history
Why's that? Was the crime rate that high?

@Amir the Cultivated Commuter not until 1997. In 1990 the B was all R40 and the Q was all R68. Even the R68As were still only on the D.
@Localonthe8sHD Thanks, I used the Ricoh camcorder of my host family back then .. :)
greatest job in the world it's like riding a rollercoaster all day
@InkaSlowik Were you already living there in 1990?
@mythbuster43 - More to the front would've been impossible. The conductor's cabin was right beside me.
No they just put a tint window there. sometimes the conductor removes it.
Was that a R32 N or R train across the platform of pacific street station?
R40 B trains kicked ass!!!

Pacific Street station at 6:04, long before it was renamed Barclays Center.
Thanks for the info! :)
It looks nothing like it does today
I didn't even remember the direction we went .. ;)
Maybe one of the experts here knows what train that was.
@liveshowgrlz No, I live in Cologne, Germany.
Oh, thanks for the information ...it's 17 years ago. ;) I will change the text.
wow what line the (QB)?
Too bad you didn't keep filming down 4th Ave. That was one fast express run before they slowed everything down.

The name of the line that this train runs on (or once did)

@liveshowgrlz Yeah, you're probably right. The same thing would happen to that boy in "Sleepless in Seattle" who forgot his rucksack on the top of the Empire State building .. ;)
