This is something I want to explore myself. I had the luck to take a look around our company's old tape shit and it's amazing. However, last time I checked, it wasn't that economical for Germany. But then again, it has been some time and as Austin mentioned, prices probably varied a lot since then. Might be worth taking a look at it and store stuff like our old digitized family photos on them and keep them somewhere safe off-site.
@@playeronthebeat We (german company) have LTO8 storage. The prices in the beginning were high, but nowadays you can get one lto8 tape for 60€, the initial costs for the drive and software on the other hand are high, so it isn't something for everyone. If you want to privately safe files on tape you should look for smaller drives (bigger ones need extra scsi pci adapters etc) and older ones like lto4 to lto6. You can find new tapes for that and the used price isn't that high because companies want to use the newer ones for increased capacity and speed.
One of these videos you should have a "makeover" type video where you do your analysis and the client agrees to make the changes you suggest and there's a before and after. Maybe one day you'll find a UA-camr that agrees to this.
Dang. Austin keeps things so clean. Studio goals, for sure.

there's a reason why banks still use LTO's, they're pretty durable, LTO 9 (which is current gen you can just buy) is 45TB with Z compression per tiny tiny tape... and if you have many of them, automatic robot can take/swap them fairly quickly I work as a mainframe sysadmin/sysprog and videos are just hobby for me, so this is more my field than cameras... I haven't even worked on a system with HDDs in last 5 years, everything is either pure SSD (usually smaller systems), or SSD+tape
Judging by the bloopers, Austins shares the same OCD traits as Gerald and that's why he got a perfect score. It's not because everything was "perfect" 🤔Despite the bias, it's probably the cleanest studio setup so far
Cool tour! Really well set up space with cameras and lighting. 22:00 I'm going to look into LTO tape to see if there is a cost effective drive option. I like backing up my video work, but its a constant struggle. Maybe tape can be a better second backup solution.
Patrick, the pins in your arm will help you hold the camera.. on not like long shoots, but maybe a short duration while sitting. J/K Hope everything mends itself nicely.
I enjoy these a lot! I do wish you got more into the technical side. This could be like five hours long and I would watch. I might be in the minority though??
Damn, I really was hoping you were going to roast the desk setup we made for you. I also didn't realize how much taller you were than austin, until I saw you guys side by side in person LMAO
Dear Gerald: I would like to see a piece of merch with your thumbs-up marketing pose and the words 'All My Weird Pleasures' in bold over it. Thank you for your time.
Hi Gerald, I love your channel, maybe you can answer a question for me. Is it possible to use a lens with image stabilisation on a camera with inbody stabilisation? Using both IS systems together. I can't find much on the internet about this. I have a Tamron 15-30mm IS lens and I am thinking about getting the Sony a7iv.
Patrick namblmbl get better mbl missed a lot mblbl, funny vibes mblmeh :D Kidding aside, get better, man. You and Gerald have great chemistry and we wouldn't want to miss you our your camera work
