    3. Would join
    4. Yes im currently working on a game my own
    5. Could be cool
    6. Personally probably not interested at the moment

    1. Worldbuilding followed by Blender and the amazing art you are able to create.
    2. Look to point 4. -> I would be interested to see how you would build your game worlds/environments. Other than that, probably just more content similar to what is already on the channel.
    3. Depends on what the purpose of the channel is, e.g. community challenges might draw me in
    4. YES, big yes. I am a game developer myself, although not professionally, and if it wasn't for my interest I potentially would never have found this channel.
    5. I rarely watch livestream content.
    6. I have many Udemy style classes which I don't make use of, so potentially yes.

    1. You fill the void that Ian Hubert left behind when he moved exclusively to patreon. You have informative tutorials, they're quick, and the result is always awesome. You share most of them for free and I've paid for some of your tutorials as a result!
    2. Personally I think project-oriented learning is good. I liked your "how to create EPIC scale in art" video but that felt like it was just a demo of a 12 video course we never got. If I could build, from scratch, everything you showed there, that would be awesome! Animation is cool too even though I realize it's' hard.
    3. Probably. Depends. Most Blender discords are kinda boring but I like your content so I'd give it a go!
    4. I don't care that much about game dev. It's cool but there's a billion channels for that.
    5. I don't watch livestreams on YT so not really for me personally.
    6. Paid online classes? No. If you did like a live, open course sort of thing for free, I'd definitely give it a shot.

    1. Intresting quick tutorials that aren't so prominent across other youtube channel, also world building, and of course, the beard
    2. World building vids and the concept arty feel of your quick tuts
    3. uhhh hell yeah! suggest that you also interact a decent amount since that's an issue with many creator servers
    4. I'm starting to switch to gamedev, seeing as a game environment art position is my goal, i'd love content around it
    5. Q&A +Live sounds dope! I'm down
    6. I'd strongly consider it, especially if it's game environment oriented
I'd also say that don't stress over a very strict schedule, if ya get me feel
Just keep up the quality and that's it, it's all that matters in the end

    1. My main reason sticking to this channel is because your content is great! Detailed but not dragging on the topic forever, and every idea or concept you trying to say is super clear and easy to understand.
    2. Basically any thing that can push me further in the creation path, I love doing world buildings and concepting but lacking the skills to actually produce them, so, anything that can help me do that is a big welcome.
    3. Yes and not really, It sounds interesting but I'm not really a Discord person.
    4. Yes but It would work better to clearly marked out different topics (or series) for people's convenient searching for what they want to see.
    5. No comment on this one.
    6. YES!

    1. Concept art videos, like the sea monster and submarine ones.
    2. More worldbuilding stuff, and more focus on the Photoshop part of the aforementioned videos.
    3. I would consider joining the Discord, especially if there are challenges, perhaps a weekly concept art challenge with a specific theme each time?
    4. YES YES GAMEDEV YES
    5. I would tune into livestreams from time to time, especially if you work on something cool, maybe reviewing those Discord challenge entires?
    6. I don't really buy online classes but if you make a really good one about concept art, I would definitely consider it.

1.Blender content and concept art timelapses
2.I would love to see more concept art content, and how to make them
    3.Yes, I would join a discord community
4.I would love to see content related to gamedev but not as a main topic on this channel
    5.That's great idea
6.Yes, I would be interested in online classes
My extra request. I would like to see a tutorial on concept art from start to the end. I've been trying to do some myself lately, but don't know where to start. Yours looks great and I would love to learn something from you.

    1) World Building and design, but somehow my fav vid is the one about the fur grooming... (so red...). The short informational tutorials combined with enthusiasm and some comedy are good. I think I started watching this channel to learn how to make an Ice Landscape, so world building is definitely the main interest.
    2) The World building and general tips and tricks for Blender are my main interest.
    3) Absolutely! I think it would be cool if you did some render challenges on the discord, similar to how pwnisher does his challenges (maybe collab for something?). It would also be useful to answer questions about previous tutorials and the like.
    4) Maybe periodically?
    5) Would be interesting, just maybe do them on Fridays?
    6) Online classes would be cool, like one on one critiques and suggestions for artworks, but I think at that point it's better to use the Discord.

    1. World Building
    2. Compositing live action keyed footage into full 3d environments
    3. I don't really use discord but open minded for the future
    4. I'm not into game design I strictly want to be a filmmaker but you sound really passionate so gotta do what you gotta do!
    5. Not a fan of live streams, I rarely have time for longer videos and especially when they are at specific times. Shorter Q and A are nice once in a while though
    6. My life is chaos.....probably not
Love your videos really excited to see whats coming

    1. Solid and easy tutorials, backed by a nice voice and aptitude for tutorials
    2. Human anatomy for Character Sculpting, Ideation for Architectural Renders (I got into this thanks to your Ruins video), Painting for Architectural renders in Photoshop (something I still struggle with).
    3.Discord would be brilliant
    4. Yes. Would love to see your long and short form content for Game Dev.
    5. If you have the energy and time for it then yes. But don't make it another high priority along with your videos. You are engaging enough as is.
    6. Online classes would be great.
Your videos have been a great help for my renders on Instagram. It even landed me a job so I have the money to join your online classes whenever you release them. Thanks a lot and glad to see you are back. :D

    1. The Worldbuilding/Design and the clear and concise manner that you explain things.
    2. Scene/Background setup, like some pieces don't look quite right from angle and or too barren/crowded. Besides some stuff to solidify the basics with shorter tutorials and work up to the advanced/crazy stuff most people would glace over for in like ways outside of other programs to create a decent 2/3D piece (ie. Worldbuilder, Terragen etc.)
    3. A Discord sounds neat! Kinda of a lurker though but having ways the community can get together and having some people to bounce ideas off of is always stellar.
    4. Game dev content would be nice to see. A lot of stuff like the rigging and animations in your style would nice content to see.
    5. Livestreams are decent way to get more in touch with the community while getting to know their general level and the content people want to see.
    6. The classes probably aren't for me mainly due to time constraints.

    1. Main Reason: Easily the best blender tutorials out there (along with ian hubert, maybe.) I love your style of showing concepts and ways to do something, not necessarily explaining every step.
    2. Special topics: I would be interested on how to use eevee and post-processing
    3. Discord: Absolutely
    4. Gamedev: I'm not really interested, but creating 3d models/environments for games would be cool
    5. Livestream: Yes, please!

    1. I love your teaching style and indepth world building.
    2. I would love to see how you would bring your worlds alive with environmental animations, camera moves and, weather particle systems.
2,1. I also love your creature designs, rig, animations and I want more of that but, I would also like to see how you design characters that would populate your world and how you would add things like concept of their culture.
    3. Yes
    4. Sure, I got into 3d by wanting to be a game developer.
    5. Yes as long it does not burn you out.
    6. Same as 5, as someone that job is to teach film and videography I know how easy a person can burn out with teaching all the time.

Ok here goes 1. World building, Blender, CG thing in general. currently working on some graphic novel art and toying with turning it into a short film. So trying to learn everything.
    2. I enjoy all topics, frankly. I like learning and the process of it. and I find even in things I'm not going to do, there is always a takeaway of something I can use.
    3. Yes, most of my discord groups are addon-focused so it is nice to just discuss creating stuff.
    4. Yes, would probably be helpful for film creation and storyboarding so go for it!
    5. Might be cool! Doens't hurt to try.
    6. Sure, depends on the subject though.

  • @defectivenull
    @defectivenull 2 роки тому +1

    1. specifically blender/3d concept art and tutorials, especially wouldbuilding
    2. more environment analysis/construction like in your "Epic scale in art" video and vidoes of your more simplified game-ready models like the "artistic trees in blender" video. i like the more kitbashing stuff in general, not that i have anything about the whole procedurally generated textures thing but as someone who's working in an older game engine that sort of stuff isn't very applicable to me even though i know i'm the minority here
    3. yeah i guess it'd pretty neat, if it's kept active through server events of some kind, maybe you could even give some criticism for people who post their work there as an incentive of sorts, that'd definetively make it more likely for people to stick around
    4. it would be neat especially if you mainly talk about the art side of the gamedev process and not so much the engine specific stuff. i think there's enough channels that cover that aspect in enough detail already. i think it would be interesting to maybe have a video on detailing a linear game environment depending on it's art style. Developing a story through environments (stuff like placements of props, notes and other things that indicate how a space was used). I'm think there's already a lot of character design content out there and so i'm not interested in seeing that from you (though again i'm in the minority here most likely)
    5. i suppose it could be fun, though depends on what you're working on
    6. depends on the topic and structure, if it's the usual udemy sort of thing of just uploading a bunch of videos to a platform and then just helping people go through them, and it's not something i'm interested in. I'm not sure i'd go the extra effort to buy into it. But if there's maybe a one on one aspect to it, even if i'd have to pay a higher price i might go for it.

    1. The beard ofcourse! But really, the way you explain things in such a short time is absolutely amazing! Definitely keep up the good work :)
    2. The 5-10 min videos which you make are the best! The way you breakdown a piece is really awesome IMO! You can definitely try expanding with other softwares in addition to Blender on that regard as well.
    3. Yes to Discord! More challenges are always a nice thing!
    4. Yes, some game dev content would be really nice. I feel like deep down everyone is interested in game dev but not sure how to do it optimally and efficiently. Atleast I would count myself in that, haha!
    5. Livestreams are great if done properly! Pwnisher does a live stream every month and it is really great to hang out with the community there sometimes! You can actually engage with the community who care about the channel. Don't do it if it takes too much effort but definitely worth trying out!
    6. Yes!
And finally, thanks for coming back! We really missed your videos. :) Can't wait for the next one!

    Questionsss:
    1. Quick tutorials and world building, started studying concept in 2D and saw it could be done even better in Blender, so here I am. I absolutely love your quick tutorials, they always help a lot, and if I can offer a suggestion, it would be a tut for better light and camera positioning in blender, those are my weakest points.
    2. Maybe more videos about the professional workflow? We hear a lot about it, but don't usually get to see it much, and I think it would help the people that are interested in looking into environmental concept art for a living
    3. I'm not really a Discord afficionado but I'd join if there were Q&A and open feedback sessions, I think that's a great way to help grow together
    4. YES PLEASE
    5. Depends on your availability, I like weekly videos but I can't always watch them live
    6. YES PLEASE (2). If I may, your courses are definetly on my to buy list, and I understand the value of the work you put behind it, but I think it would be interesting to maybe have more basic courses for a cheaper option? I'm from South America and whenever I have to buy something internationally my currency is greatly devaluated, so I end up paying 5x more of the original price. Don't know if it even is a considerable demographic for you tho, so don't sweat

Depends on what you mean/define as game dev. 5. Not so much.. set up a Twitch for that maybe? 6. Classes are a cool idea.. I know you like everyone else needs to make money.. I just can't afford it... so good luck in that.

    1. It started out with learning blender, but I stayed for the way you combine blender and painting. But really anything is good, mostly just your way of teaching works very well for me! Small priority list tho:
Easily digestible short tutorials, especially for blender
Universally applicable topics, like the one about scale. Composition would fall under the same category.
Some slightly longer format blender tutorials, 10-30 min.
Digital painting, would love to see more of that
    Worldbuilding.
    2. Composition, digital painting, maybe try out clip studio paint?
    3. Definitely
    4. Yes, I like to watch gamedev content, but I wouldn’t want it to take over any of the other stuff too much. Your other stuff is just so good, and it’s hard to come by anything similar on the platform.
    5. Yeah, livestreaming could be fun. Normally I can’t catch livestreams because of timezones, but I noticed that we are in the same city. Just not in the middle of the night, thank you : D
    6. Yes! That would be a nice opportunity

Hi, I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed your contents, that was very helpful for me. I took some notes about worldbuilng, some blender tips and more.
    And here my answers:
1-learning about fundamentals of design and worldbuilding
2- design theory, composition, lighting and some other technical stuff (for example: how can we use camera angles-lenses in an effective way while telling a story or how aspect ratio and cinematic crop change the mood and the viewer's psychology)
3-discord could be a great option for who wants to learn and share
    4-that would be interesting
5-livestream and Q-A sessions would be really helpful
    6-I can think to join
Thank you for this channel, you already helped me a lot! Have a great day!

    4. Yes. That is something I plan on studying after I get a little more advanced with my Blender work.

1: I'm here mostly because I'm trying to learn and master my skills in Blender. I'm pretty new to Blender, only been modeling seriously for a couple months, and your videos have so many great tips and tricks. I love everything from world-building to the quick modeling tutorials.
2: I really like what you're doing now, from the world-building to the tutorials. I love the 8-10 minute Blender tutorials, so please keep doing those and possibly going over different techniques.
3: Yes! I think a Discord community would be both fun and very helpful for people. Challenges and events are a great idea, as well!
4: I'd be very interested in seeing more game development-related content on your channel, that's one of the main reasons I'm learning how to use Blender.
5: Sure, that sounds like it could be fun.
6: Online classes sound great. I really hope this is something that becomes a reality.
It's great to see you back and to hear you'll be making more amazing videos and expanding the channel!

To answer the question 1 and 2, I'm here because of blender. I always struggle with buildings and environments, so I try blender. Although some of your art style didn't match the art style that I'm aiming for, your tutorials cover some topics that are really interesting and your works looks amazing.
I don't think I'm qualified enough to answer the rest, but here's the answers
    3. Maybe
    4. I don't have the time to follow along game dev
    5. I don't have the time to watch livestream
    6. I don't have the time follow an online class
I don't even have the time to continue my personal animation atm (I'm still in college), but if you and most of your community wants to do those things, then go ahead.

    1: The world-building / environment tutorials.
2: Mainly environment and world-building stuff, but considering the quality of your videos I'm down to watch any of your videos really. Oh and some compositing with or without Blender, that's something that doesn't have lots of tutorials yet it seems like it's very important, especially for 3D environment renders.
3: I would totally join it, especially if there are some kind of challenges (like monthly challenges based on a tutorial you recently made, that sort of stuff)
    4: It would be interesting!
5: Livestreaming could be cool as long as you're not doing the usual 3D artist who start a livestream and doesn't talk at all for hours, make it interesting!
    6: Definitely!
    Keep up the great work!

    2. More scene creations and quick/simplified tutorials to use to get your feet wet on large or daunting concepts in 3d creation. I'm going to be checking out your "Walking Animation in Blender" video as soon as I finish this one.
    3. I would join your discord community to interact with other artists.
    4. I'm an aspiring developer myself, as many who get involved with 3d art are. I would like to see dev tutorials similar to your rigging tutorial, taking a large concept and boiling it down to what you need to know to get started and leaving it to the viewer to pursue deeper knowledge.
    5. I do not watch livestreams, so I'm not a very reliable metric for that question.
    6. I also do not typically utilize online courses when there is so much free information out there, particularly around Blender, which is my primary tool. I appreciate that a structured course with feedback from and interaction with the instructor and other classmates can be a great learning tool for many people, I'm just not one of them.
I hope my comments here are helpful and can fuel your progress and success!

I prefer your explained walktrough step-by-step video of you making something, not only it's entertaining but it's also inspiring and helpful. Another type of content is a definitely yes, start branching out to others topic, like what you mentioned for example (game dev). And a community activities ?, I'm probably gonna miss some of the show but it's still going to be intresting to watch.

    1. a)your way of condensing information without removing the important details really suits my style educational content and its been the main reason I come back again and again to watch old videos too, they rejog my memory very quickly and effectively
    b) themed videos like ice landscapes/underwater scenes/ancient ruins that cover how to mix in many elements to make a scene work have helped me in my own projects a lot, even outside of those specific themes.
    2. more content with emphasis on the concept art/2d paint-over techniques would be great. I 'know' how to use photoshop, but I tend not to be able to get things done, walkthroughs of those would be great
    3. I'm personally not able to be active on much social media, but I will definitely join and maybe participate in a few competitions once in a while
    4. game-dev really isn't my thing
    5. I'm almost never able to catch livestreams, but I enjoy watching VODS, so if you keep those up after the fact, that would be phenomenal
    6. One day if I have the money, but not right now unfortunately

    1. there is a lack of youtubers who make entertaining videos of amazing renders with actual voice overs instead of just a speed paint, i found your videos super fun to watch sort of like watching Jazza but for 3D 2. I would love to see entreating in depth tutorials on how to make a certain scene. for example: "how to make this wild west scene in blender" or "how to make a magical forest scene" stuff like that would really help us learn the process of making great renders. 3. I don't really use discord but could definitely see how others would benefit from it. 4. Yes game development content would be awesome. 5. lives could be cool 6. If classes are reasonably priced yes!

Definitely think you have been right on the money in terms of what you are doing already! Which is why you have the amount of subscribers you have now... so keep more of that coming!!
    In answer to your questions:-
    1. Concepting, Environment Design Process, Narrative Art (it has to mean something)
    2. 3D integration with 2D concepts and painting / texturing over 3D for final result.
    3. Discord is a nice idea... personally I'm a member of a few and don't always engage (if I'm honest).
    4. It's funny I don't play games at all, but I am (and have been for over 30 years) super interested in this topic. I like the cinematics and just the level of prop and epic environment design. Love film concept too though, so would love some insight on that too perhaps, if this is in your skill base.
    5. Yeah a Live Stream would be interesting... you could do "Real Time" example paintings (not full process of course as time would be limited). Maybe professional panel crits on student / community projects perhaps...
    6. Yes classes are a great idea... I take many of these already from other providers that are not specifically environment/world building epics... so this might be a good direction, not only for YOU as a business, but for us the "trying to learn all this sh*t as quickly as possible" masses :)
    Good luck.

I'm glad to see you back! And I'm glad all is well!
    1. Your tutorials are well made and have great pacing! And it's always something interesting.
    2. I love the creatures, the environments, and rigging/animation. Some more hard surface sci-fi stuff would be great!
    3. Discord is ok. but, I personally don't spend much time there.
    4. I'm not into game dev, but if you post, I'll watch it!
    5. Depending on when you schedule the live stream, I'd watch... It's more likely I'd catch it later though.
    6. I'm a hobbyist and I have a busy schedule. Online classes would be hard to do for me. I love the shorter videos and I'd be happy to grab a gumroad tut of the expanded, more explained lesson.

On the first question I would say the tutorials and the mood of the videos that keep me coming back, like the giant scale or rigging video because give information in a compact and easy to follow way
On videos I would say that I really would want to see more tutorials on your style, maybe on how to create whatever comes to your mind and the principles you use to create them.
On community, at least I think it sounds like a great idea because can create a place for people with the same likes and desire to share and learn with others.
On game development content, hey it's your channel and it supposed to be filled with the things that you are passionate about and I doubt getting knowledge about it would be something any person could be against it.
On livestream I guess that depends on your end if you really want to do it at a good time foe you and your audience to watch. Could be cool watching you create projects from zero.
On Online classes, I think is a great idea to teach everything you know for those who are interested on a more detail lesson on how to create and develop something.
Keep up the good work and is good to see you back, hope the best for you and your future endeavours!

You are one of the best Blender UA-cam channels! I'm so pleased your back!
Here's some answers to your questions:
    1. I love your world building content the most, but your other content is also really helpful and I refer to it frequently.
    2. How to guides/tutorials to making worlds and scenes.
    3. I would absolutely LOVE a discord channel with challenges, as this would help improve peoples skills to a great amount.
A small suggestion, if a person wins a challenge, maybe providing one of the courses you suggested creating for free as a prize would definitely help draw people to enter (or a small prize that isn't much cost to you but could be a nice bonus to the winner). And maybe running these challenges for a week in every month would be great.
    4. Game Dev content sounds great! Maybe finding ways to link your UA-cam tutorials into this would be amazing!
    5. Weekly livestreams sound like a great idea. However, out of all the ideas suggested if you drop any of them I would suggest this one to be the one you don't go through with, as timezones are complicated and the amount of time they consume to make can be significant.
    6. I would love to see online classes, but as long as they are not super overpriced and are very in-depth.
Most importantly, don't feel that you have to come through with all these suggestions from the community or meet all the things you suggested, it is very easy to burn out when producing this much content and dedicating lots of time into this. I think most people would rather have only 1 video a week that is high quality, over multiple pieces of content in a week that isn't sustainable and not as high quality.
    Thanks!

I came for blender content. I also watch gamedev tutorials. Mainly I look for a way to do something and then implement it. It is easier to make something creative my own by twisting it in some way, than say code which is just a way to implement a feature which may narrow the scope of when it is useful, and it is useful. Though implementing art and story in a game is tough depending on how it is done so a tutorial or lesson on one or other to do it would be nice. Thanks so far for the tutorials lessons, I have used the tree one the most.

    1. Concept Art/Design, Really loved the "How To Create EPIC Scale In Art" video the amount of information available in it is exactly what I was looking for when I decided to start learning Concept Art
    2. Would love to see you incorporate/make some videos on Design Principles and Fundamentals within Concept Art perhaps more 2D workflow breakdown videos showing the what, why, and how you finish a concept piece after you've rendered it out from your 3D application of choice
    3. Yes I would be interested
    4. I would be interested in gamedev content but the content I would personally like to advocate the most for would be Concept Art
    5. Unsure
    6. I personally prefer a more freely available video centric approach to learning which is why I love using YT as my platform of choice for learning most everything I've been interested in for the past five years but then again this is highly subjective from person to person and their unique individual learning style

I got hooked on your channel with your hairy ape tutorial, that I learned quite a bit and enjoyed the light humor. It made the video far more interesting and kept me focused. I since viewed some of your other tutorial videos and while good tutorials, your monotone voice made it less engaging. As for content on your channel:
    1. Blender feature demonstrations. Blender is huge in scope and often people don't know what some of the things it can do. An example of how your ape video helped me was the weight painting on the hairs. I'd never seen anyone use it before, and I only ever thought of weight painting for rigging bodies to bones and such. Now i'll use weight painting on fur and hair for ever more.
    2. Exploring concept art in Blender. You seem to have a love of that and I haven't seen many Blender videos about that aspect. I love procedural materials and geometry nodes, but those are all just pieces that could be used in a concept. Your work has definitely inspired me to try for more epic vistas.
Thank you for all the effort you put into making these videos, please keep up the good work as you can. Cheers!

    1. Randomly stumble opon it by seaching for some blender tutorials or concept art relateded videos. (Very pleased that i did by the way! :).. )
    2. i personally really enjoyed the overall workflow you worked blender and then working on it further in Photoshop (Complet ConceptArt tutorial/timelapses).
I wouldnt mind some more pure photoshop (2D) related content wich is a medium i personaly have a bigger love for.
    3. Wouldnt mind joining, however since ive been joining some other discord channels (art related). Ive noticed a personal pattern where iam kinda unmotivaded to be active there. Not sure exacly why. ( Iam sure that there are people out there with a more better expierience and more motivation for them to be active on the server)
    4. I think it would be very benefical and a great oppituinity there for more insight on game development! ( go for it why not? :P )
    5. I think that would be a great idea, There is plenty of oppitunity for poeple to check in and ask questions during the progression of the artwork. But also get an idea of how long a artwork can take but also how you work and potenticaly see how you may work diffrently with either other medium or other form of artwork. (does workflow differ hugely? if its an artwork of a character vs. a enviromental artwork? and so on) AND i can imagine that also would make it easier for you having some variation of work and there for easier time to deal with unwanted fatiuge.
    6. Personally difficult to say, But i think it would be wonderfull for people that happens to live in countries where access is more difficult to come by. (Everything doesnt have to cater to me 100% all the time :P ) But it would also be nice if some of the lessons/critics could be in a video where you might showcase art-fundamentals for artists with lesser expierience.
I really pleased with the channel overall and cant wait for the upcoming things! :)

    1. your epic scale video was in my recommended section and it was awesome! the landscape/building part of concept art is the most interesting part of art to me and that video taught me a lot about how I can start working towards creating art of that type!
    2. worldbuilding and videos like the epic scale one would be rad
    3. maybe? I'm rarely active on discord but I'd still join
    4. that would be cool! I know nothing about game development so it could be interesting
    5. maybe. I definitely couldn't watch them consistently, but watching like a livestream highlights videos would be cool
    6. online classes would be rad! I'm a broke college student so I personally couldn't really afford them at the moment, but maybe in the future! regardless, they would be an awesome resource to have

    - I like your teaching style, background music, tone of voice etc. Well structured, densely packed with information and just pleasant to watch videos.
    - Game dev stuff would be great. Especially making assets and environment building for games, as it's a little different than doing it for renders.
    - Classes would also be good but depending on how you want to set that up I imagine lots of people will sign up so doing stuff like assignments would quickly get overwhelming, I'd think.
