    Now we have an hypertonic medulla that is maintained by the vasa recta, do we need another cycle of solute reabsorption by the ascending limb no?

    • @MedMadness
      @MedMadness  5 днів тому

      sorry for late reply. Yes, the hypertonic medulla is maintained by the vasa recta. The ascending limb of the loop of Henle plays a crucial role in this process. It reabsorbs solutes like sodium and chloride into the interstitial fluid, which helps maintain the high osmolarity of the medulla. This hypertonic environment is essential for the kidney's ability to concentrate urine. Thank you.

    Isn't the direction of blood flow in vasa recta opposite to that of filtrate in loop of henle?

      True. It actually is.

      Hi, sorry for late reply. Yes, the direction of blood flow in the vasa recta is indeed opposite to that of the filtrate in the loop of Henle. This countercurrent exchange mechanism helps maintain the osmotic gradient in the kidney medulla, which is crucial for concentrating urine. thank you

    7:33 if water is moving out of the descending limb then why the osmolarity of medullary interstitum doesn't decrease sir ?

    • @MedMadness
      @MedMadness  Рік тому +1

      Recall that medulla is having blood flow . Water can be resorbed into blood vessels . Most of solutes gets retained in medulla because of recirculation in blood vessels and slow blood flow in medulla is important too( solutes are not washed away )

      @@MedMadness by blood vessels do you mean vasa recta sir ?

    • @MedMadness
      @MedMadness  Рік тому

      Yes

    • @MedMadness
      @MedMadness  Рік тому

      In medulla , Water is reabsorbed , solutes stay ( due to recirculation ) . So the osmolarity is high in medulla
