I am not Italian but i was gonna write the exact same thing and then i saw your comment. Hands down Italian food is just sooooooooo tasty. I love Italy
Yeah Daniel is right, they are two different things. Both are a reinvention of an Austrian pastry; cornetto was created 100 hundred years before croissant (and croissant was brought in France by Marie Antoinette in 1770), that's why in France croissants and similar are called viennoiserie. Everyone thinks that cornetto is an Italian version of croissant but instead they are two different and separated things. Also the recipe is quite different (for example cornetto has eggs and croissants has not, and has more sugar than croissant as well).
Daniel Calvi Actually it was first created in Vienna, to celebrate victory over Turks in siege of 1683. Marie Antoniette brought it in France and her sister Maria Carolina in the kingdom of Naples in Italy.
the dude's excitement over you enjoying your sandwich just shows how much passion he has for what he does. It's always easy to tell when someone loves doing what they do.
I’m so glad you finally went to Italy! There’s no comparison to the cured meats there. As an Italian teacher, just one note: cornetti are not the same as croissants! Lighter and less buttery, and generally filled with jam. ❤️
Hey Mikey, I don't know if it's too late or not, but try to avoid gelato that's stacked really high, as well as gelato with really bright colors. It's not considered real gelato by Italians, and is only eaten by tourists. If you want the real gelato experience, go for more natural looking colors. A great give away is the pistachio flavor. If it's a bright green, it's fake. It should be more of a muddy greenish brown. Cheers
dabu5459 check out the channel Pi Suarez he has awesome Mexican food videos every week on Friday... I also like Mark Wiens he travels constantly all over... Enjoy
As soon as I saw this title I knew it would be All’Antico Vinaio! Their sandwiches are life-changing. I also can’t believe how empty it is in this video! Usually there’s a huge line out the door.
Hey mikey! I went to Italy a few years back and it was the best place for sandwiches. I had my most memorable in Venice, with about an inch of prosciutto and nearly a whole ball of mozza melted into the best bread ever. I loved this video, it brought back so many memories
Oh im so glad you went to All'Antico.. I was going to suggest it to you as a place you HAD to try before realizing you weren't in Italy anymore. You aren't kidding when you say that it is truly far and away better than any sandwich out there, and it isnt close. It really is unbeatable for taste and the price is ridiculous, my mouth was watering just remembering that sammie. To be honest, that goes for all of Italy, I try and tell everyone to visit. There are a lot of good places to eat in the states, but none of it compares to Italy in terms of freshness and quality. On my first bite, It was immediately apparent to me how processed/preserved our food is. Everything in Italy is made in house, or comes from the local market that morning, building dishes around produce that is in season, and you can taste the difference without question. Great job with the vids, im loving the Italy series, such a great country. p.s. - I hate to be a stickler, but it is a confusing one, it is actually pronounced Por-ket-ta.
"This is like Super Saiyan 4 Goku fighting your Uncle Bob". Just when I thought I couldn't love him any more, he turns out to be a DBZ fan... AWESOMENESS!!!
Anyone who had the intelligence to subscribe to Mikey’s channel knows that they have been blessed. Hands down, Mikey is the best food reviewer in a crowd of excellent food reviewers. I look forward to watching him almost daily, as he knows how to make you drool and want whatever it is he is eating! Thanks Mikey! You’re the best there is! Cheers, Colin.
That sandwich place is one of my favorites in Florence too. The boss is my favorite there sure. The creamy cheese they do there is insanely good. Next time you need to try pinos sandwiches aka salumeria verdi get the magic zbd or the spring time. SO GOOD!
Glad you enjoyed italian streed food! Welcome back anytime in Italy and I hope you will try also other delicious streetfood from other regions of Italy! :)
When I was in Italy that Gelato place with the chocolate waterfall was where I went as well. There was a gelato place across the street that I preferred though.
I cannot believe you went to Cinque Terre!! I’ve wanted to go for so long, now it looks like a month long trip with stops in many places would be the best for Italy. Fabulous job on this trip. More Europe definitely!
Simple is best in food, bake focaccia all the time, to make sandwiches is great but, freshly baked, dipped in QUALITY EVOO, slip away on it to the God's of taste and moments to cherish. Wonderful
You just confirmed for me that I need to go to italy/florence/Rome one day! Hopefully someday soon. Just know when I do I'll be rewatching your videos. Cause i need that sandwich
Oh man love your videos please do a new workout video I really need it now because all I see is food in front of my eyes I need to face the harsh reality to 😂😂😂
He talked about this before, he doesn’t really show the bad places he goes to and only shows the places he really likes. So it only seems that he likes everything
I love watching your videos but mostly all the ones about Japan. Then I noticed you had a few italy videos! I had to check and see if you went to Vinaio. It was the best sandwiches in Florence. Me and my hubby literally ate here everyday. Only thing that beat this sandwich out was my first rare steak ever from il Latini. If you ever go back to Florence check this place out. Get the smallest steak. Not sure if they have smaller ones because they are usually shared between two people but in Italy steak is called bistecca. Get it rare with the fried vegetables. The best meal I had in all of italy
Love you man....the way to experience food is Fab. Makes even the most diet conscious person go swooning over with just a mere mention of food. Trust me.
Honestly I havent been watching mikey for a long time now, idk if he still does those videos where he talks about historical stuff. It kinda surprises me that he's doing this now, idk if he used to do it before as well. I'm not disappointed, but it's a big change to see him change what I'm used to seeing him do. Anyways, it's good to see him healthy and living life to the fullest
Can attest, we went there daily during our stay in Florence for lunch because we were on the move so much. You can build your own and they charge the same price
I can not believe you finished both sandwiches! Haha, the guys at the shop must love you! There's something satisfying about someone clearly enjoying your food. =)
I tried the roast beef sandwich. Only available from one of the 4 shops next to each other, with wine option. For 7 euro, that was the best meal on the whole trip.
At 2:48, "Chew on THAT, Subway!" Laughed out loud, literally. Great contrast between American corporate food that most Americans think is "normal" and REAL food from Europe! Nice.
Next time you visit Florence . don´t forget to visit Trattoria ZA ZA next to Mercato Centrale ... and if you want to have a delicious dessert try a nutella waffle at Borgo San Lorenzo number 21: Gelateria La Tris. It´s not your traditional fluffy waffle.. its dense , rich , caramelized and it melts in your mouth. LOVE your vids !!! A big Hello from La Paloma , Uruguay
FYI, its pronounced... por-ket-ta and the tomato bread is pronounced Bru-sket-ta...lol i'm so jealous. Haven't been back in 30 years :( you're the best!!
Hey Mikey, I really love your videos - however it would be helpful, if you could mention your destinations in the description. It was unfortunately completely incomprehensible to what place you were heading by train from Florence, since the background noise was pretty bad. Just an idea, but what about Google map links?
Hello Mikey. I have a question. Are you still living in the new house and have you seen any cool wildlife, ghost ghouls in the attic yet. ? I hope you had an amazing trip. Your sandwiches look amazing 🍲🍞🍕🍖🍗🍤🍙🍚🍜🍛🍲xxx💟
I dont know why but im falling in love with how he's enjoy his meal and also love his kindess attittude when explain a food from around the world
Fried Mandoo awww thank you :)
Croissant is salty and it is a french thing, what you're having is a cornetto, it's sweet and it's an italian staple
I am not Italian but i was gonna write the exact same thing and then i saw your comment. Hands down Italian food is just sooooooooo tasty. I love Italy
not all croissants are salty tho

baking your own bread is easy. Making fresh lunch meat would be hard though.. Unless you know a good butcher near you
