Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 жов 2020
- In this video, I'm talking about golf weight shift vs hip turn and how you can create more speed and power in your golf swing. Golf weight shift and hip turn play a critical role in the golf swing and is an area where many golfers get mixed up in their golf swing. Follow the steps provided and you'll gain a better understanding of how the shift and turn works in your golf swing.
Regardless of your current golf handicap or skill, you can master this important part of the swing and create more clubhead speed and distance with all of your golf shots. Practice daily the rehearsal swings as demonstrated and your weight shift and hip turn will improve and so will your ball-striking. Enjoy playing better golf and shooting lower scores at your next round of golf.

I literally can't wait to try this out! Excited to generate more power! Love your advice! :)
Thank you, glad it helped. Cheers
Troy, this has been a tremendous help for me. The Hip/Shoulder turn has been a mystery move for a long time. This tape has helped me more than any.
Hopefully, you have taken the mystery out for me.
Thanx .... jt
Thanks Joe, appreciate it
Troy, you are an excellent swing coach. I have been watching your videos, applying your points and tips, and using your drills since the season began here, and it has made a tremendous difference. I like the way you break down the elements of the swing and explain the correct ‘feel’. Thanks!
Thanks John, glad to hear you're making some nice progress. Keep it up mate. Cheers
great videos; can u explain head position for driver address - tilt back or towards target. i am left eye dominant, so its somewaht confusing for a proper set-up to help use your excellent tips.
Thanks, I keep the head pretty neutral and behind the ball at set up
@@Hittingitsolid interesting in that many incorporate dominant eye to position head. also, does it make a difference which arms/hands overlapping to practice your hip turn drill? thx
Yet another great and SIMPLE training regime. Nice one Troy.
Thanks Steve as always. Cheers
I like the suggestion to do 20 reps daily of the rotation drill to build muscle memory. Maybe even video it once in a while to check form and improvement.
Great idea John, video is a great addition to every golfers improvement program. Cheers
Another great video.Thanks troy.
Thanks Rajindar, appreciate it.
It was interesting to know that there is the difference between the two.
Yes, there sure is. Thank you for watching. Cheers
What's your initial weight distribution at setup? Is it more or less 50/50 or do you favour the front leg a bit, say 60/40 or maybe even more like 80/20? I used to use the stack and tilt (or something like it lol. My swing has never been great) and was prob more like 80/20 but I had about 10 years out of the game due to back issues but now I'm gettin back into it and tryin to find a swing that puts a bit less stress on the lower back as I hear stack and tilt isn't great for bad backs.
Hi Russell, I prefer roughly about a 50/50 weight distribution at setup. It's different for everyone that's for sure. I did a video not long ago that talked about golfers that can only make a short ua-cam.com/video/rxt-ie7fKEs/v-deo.html. Not sure if you fit into that category with your back, but you may find it useful. Cheers
Loads of golf coaches use the 'throwing a ball' move to illustrate golf swing movement, but, loads of people will have their own instinctive style of throwing a ball.
That's true, but the technical method of throwing a ball is still much the same movement even with slight variances for styles. Cheers
Hi Troy, I thougt you could help me with one question, namely it is about head from time of impact to let say 3 a clock distance. When I swing through, will the head stay more or less in the spot where it was at address, or will move forward more? I am not talking about rotating of the head. Do you have any video related to this ? Thank you so much.
Hi Ufuk, it's slightly different for all. For me, I feel like the clubhead is about in the same line as it was at address. The swing is on an arc so it will eventually move inside but at around 3 o'clock it should be in line. This won't be the same for all golfers and irons will different slightly to driver/woods. I don't have a video as such on this topic but I'll note it down for a future video. Cheers
@@Hittingitsolid Thanks Troy.
@@ufukgoksu9851 No problem at all. Cheers
Does the rear leg straighten on the back swing
Yes for me it does straighten, it doesn't lock out completely but it straighten (extend) enough to enable a better rotation into the backswing. Cheers
I've always seen or heard from reputable players and coaches that u should keep your shoulders level and not dip or point at the ball when u make a rotation. I can't remember if it only applies to the driver. But with your iron demonstration it clearly shows the dip or tilt of the shoulders to the ball. Please clarify or explain or correct my view. Im confused.
Thanks for your comment. There's still a tilt of the shoulders with a driver, although probably not as much as with the irons. That's because with the driver the ball is usually teed up and you're trying to hit the golf ball usually on the up instead of hitting down and compressing it like with the irons. Cheers
You're right, I've got this impression too including I think from one of the pros at my golf range. I never really clarified it satisfactorily with him but just let it go. There must be or have been a school of thinking to keep shoulders level. However, as you say, Troy's stuff leaves it very clear shoulder dips - as indeed it kinda must according to laws of physics and anatomy. I've also looked at lots of pro swings online and I guess that leaves one in no doubt that all tops players do indeed dip shoulder (heavily). So yeah, it's funny that this was ever seen differently. I don't know the history. Naturally the longer the club the more upright one is standing so less shoulder dip. Biggest dip with 50 degree wedge or something when your left shoulder is kinda on top of ball. I'm adding this to Troy's answer as I suspect Troy hasn't come across this confusion the same way we have.
Hi, for me there's a slight dip in the lead shoulder at the start of transition, then with rotation and right side bend the shoulders will level out.
Troy is a genius especially with his grasp of the swing concept. He is adept at teaching this swing concept to his students with authority and clarity. He is a superb golf savant.
Nice
Thanks Kevin, appreciate it!
Hi troy where abouts do you teach
Hi Anthony,
I'm based in Australia and mostly teach online. Cheers
I am Victoria geelong just checking if you were
@@anthonymcleod4 Yep, no worries Anthony
Good tips, but it looks really awkward when demonstrating how to throw a ball ;-D
Thank you very much. Cheers
Weight shit with hip turn or hip turn with weight shift , hard to define it.......
Takes a bit of practice, cheers.
