I used to hunt cayotes in Colorado when I was at the Univ of Colorado. $50 a head to the Dept of Natural Resources. Helped to pay my way through engineering school
I used to hunt ferals on my farms, but over the years I just found myself unable to kill anything anymore. I can't explain why, and I still have all my weapons and enjoy target shooting. I have nothing but respect for other shooters for doing what you do.
I suppose if you lose your entire flock to foxes, one might reconsider. This many foxes in one night... wowzers! Amazing there's any lambs left ... they're like a plague of locusts.
I used to love fishing. Then I got a job where I did a lot of scuba diving and now I just don’t like fishing, as a sport, anymore. I’m not a big fan eating them either so there’s that too. I do appreciate this hunting though. It’s a good thing.
First of all I’m impressed with your commitment to the work! I grew up on a cattle operation and farm in the Rocky Mountains and I hunted every species of birds, small game, varmints, and big game. But I was born with a weak stomach and didn’t handle the messy job very well after the game was down. I did it but I hated it. Then I had an NDE and following that experience I couldn’t hunt anymore. My favorite pastime was over. I continued target shooting and raised my boys shooting every type of rifle and handgun. But I couldn’t hunt at all. I miss those experiences and I wish you the very best. Feral animals are a huge problem in many places. You do yourself proud with your professionalism in every respect. Well done!!!
Good on you cobber ,you have saved newborn lambs and countless thousands of native animals,..keep racking them up,you are doing way more good than just saving lambs..
Your fire control is flawless, not even a hint of movement when pulling the trigger. With marksmanship there's always the temptation to be restless and jerk the weapon when firing.
Gee, as a kid in the Riverina I can remember dad and his mates going out to farms for a week shooting foxes and rabbits. It was the mid/late 50's and there were two utes, an Austin A40 and a Ford. The A40 was piled high with foxes, under a canvas tarp, the Ford had so many rabbits, that they had to bag them so as not to leave dead rabbits all over the Sturt Highway. The local Tannery took the hides and the blokes shared the meat out with all the neighbours. Not sure what happened to the foxes but they got money for every one from some government organisation. Not sure how many trips they went on but it all stopped early in the 60's. Your fox hunts brought back memories of dad and his mates calling to foxes to stop and I'd laugh every time, then cop a clout around the ears to shut up.
KFC, nice touch of humour. Making Hollywood jelous of not being there... man, quite alot for a moon lit night. around here there's lots of movement of young, last years kits. breeding season is on it's way. i love stalking foxes calling out during mating season, as you would know, unlikely to respond to calls. great video, nice shots.
The huge 'leaping' convulsions on headshot rabbit and hares is spinal shock. I've had it happen a few times to me. They've been thrashing around so much I've run over to finish then off thinking I've only winged them, but they've been entirely decapaitated by the 17hmr round. It causes a flood of electrical impulses. Really freaked me out the first few times! .
When I was much younger I shot a lot. One day I thought I'd done a perfect head shot at 150 MTRS on a rabbit. But he jumped and did flip flops for about 10 seconds. When I got to it. It's top half of the head was gone as was the brain just an empty scull. I did do a perfect head shot 😀 the little bugger did a death dance.
@@RJMHuntingAustralia I used to use a M A NAUGHTON. made in Warrendite Vic .22 magnum floating barrel thumbhole stock bolt action. With a scope that I can't remember??? So accurate never missed. I started shooting at 11 and we would tap a plaster board clout into a tree so it stayed there then go back 50 MTRS and shoot the clout all the way in. We ate the bunnies so it had to be head shot only. I miss shooting ☹️ but watching you shoot brings back great memories.thankyou.
