Lmao at 6:15 "pigeon be gone!". Great information as usual.
This is amazing
I love your channel so much
Excellent video!!!!
ty great info
What do I do if I didn't have nearly as many birds? Cowboy is collar condition on the belly. Holds with the release of birds. But have never stopped him with birds. That will be my next step, but I only have a couple of birds. Don't have room for more. Any suggestions? Will you be doing the next step soon?
Excellent... My 2 1/2 yr old GSP Bruno gets a little anxious in the early season. I will utilize this method starting today to calm him. I will also be in the market for a female for him soon. I will reach out to you at that time to see if you have any. Thanks guy's...
Glad it helped, looking forward to hearing from you
I laughed way too hard when that pigeon landed. 🤣
Great video! My pup regressed throughout this season with holding point. She started off the season holding point briefly and even waiting for me on occasion. Since she was just over a year, I assumed this was good enough for shooting. I think I may have actually taught her that breaking point was the goal. Now she’ll let me know when a bird is close (and even point) but gets anxious quickly and starts speeding around to flush the bird. I’m worried I’ve really messed up! Is there anything I can do to get her back on track?
We would love to help. This would be a paid consult, but you can setup a video call here if you would like to go over options and how to move forward with training! calendly.com/standingstonekennels/trainingvideoconsult
I don't know how it's in the US, but here in Norway the dog has to point - flush the bird - and stand still when the bird takes off. Do you see any effect on the flushing part (especially speed/no hesitance) using your methods? Young pups are allowed to run for 10 meters before having to stand still in order for them to get a fast flush, as they get older the distance after flush is minimized.
Wow that is awesome!! Would be fun to teach!
Dear I have GSP 16 months old who does not stop at point please advise what to do?
My dog wants to sit when stimulation is applied to the belly collar. How do I stop this?
Please reach out I would be happy to help.
@@StandingStoneKennelswhat's the best way to reach out? Thanks.
When you were teaching your dog not to pull while walking what kind of leash did you use behind the ears to over the snout?
why don't you find a video on heeling/leash work? this video is about steady to flush and shot.
@@lindar2345 was just wanting to know if you had a favorite lease to train not to pull.
You say you shot a lot of birds over this dog but he is not steady to wings yet. I thought we should wait until the dog is steady before to hunt. I thought its unsafe to shoot over an unsteady dog. I think Im confused now. When you took him hunting, was he not remaining still untill the bird is shot?
I think letting the dog get used to finding a bird, watching a flushing bird, gun fire and finding a downed bird are as important as polishing the dog to being steady to wing and shot. Getting a young dog into a hunting situation can only help it along in it's training. Building drive. Taking the time after a season of hunting to work on steadying the dog to wing and shot seems only logical as the second step to help finish the dog. Setting limits of what's allowed and what's not. As far as unsafe to hunt over an unsteady dog, I always hunted alone the first season of hunting a new dog. Don't take a risky shot. Don't shoot at birds the dog bumped.
sorry to ask, but never seen a "belly collar" used.....why is it round his belly VS round his neck...what are the pros and cons etc...again excuse my ignorance ....guy from the UK
Collar around the belly makes for very specific understanding to what the stimulation correction means. Dogs natural response to the collar is to move away from pressure and causes them to stop moving. It’s pretty brilliant!!
