They are basically complete opposites. Labs are extremely high energy, chew up anything in sight, etc. so you need to have a family that can handle that. Goldens are much more laid back, generally considered better family dogs. They can be trained not to chew things pretty easily. Goldens sleep a lot. They are TERRIBLE watchdogs as they love everybody. It IS true that you will have a Golden retrievers fur everywhere, but they are worth it.
