I have never drifted these cars but ive allways loved the micro Rc cars because you can drive them inside i am looking into the kyosho mini z or a hpi micro rs4 i didnt know wl toys and jjrc had micros as well. My favorite was the losi micro t 1/36 scale truck and the 1/24th scale micro crawler
Yes, It's gonna take a while until I can make the explaining video so here's a quick answer. Basically gyro is to keep the car pointing forward. In RC drifting if the car is 4WD/AWD you don't really need it. It just make things easier. But for RWD it's essential that you have gyro to help steering the car otherwise you can't keep it from spinning. And it'd better be a decent one too because something like onboard gyro in receiver can't keep up with the small angle changes when the car continuously swing. Next, both Mini-Z and Micro RS4 are good cars. Micro RS4 is quite big but if you have space it'd be fun to have. It's a shame Losi discontinued Micro-T. Right now there's a clone from JJRC too (JJRC LT832). It's pretty cheap and helps people getting in to micro RC easier. Quality wise, can't beat the original though.

It's different. This is RWD drift mod so it needs this much steering angle to be able to drift. The steering rod? 26.5mm end to end, 21.5mm centre to centre of the ball heads. However this depends on many things such as the length of your servo horn, distance between ball head on the horn, servo position, knuckle length, etc.
@@azisalgania1656 For me I still have the same length, actually it's a tad shorter than before too because I have negative camber. And you can see in the video that it's near parallel. But I also move the shock up to get it out of the way and cut the shock pole off lower arms to achieve that. The steering angle also depends on many more things, mostly how long is your servo horn and did you cut the bulkhead to have more clearance. You can extend the upper & lower arms too so you can extract more angle out of it but you'll have to fashion a new steering system different than mine to utilize it. You can see my complete setup in ep.4 of this series. I find it near perfect this way. Of course it's not Atomic DRZ or XRX DPA.
Llevo como 3 días intentando conseguir ese ángulo de giro como el que tienes configurado y ni calcando las medidas doy con la clave... No creo que sea capaz de conseguirlo :( todo lo demás perfecto
Man..ive been trying to get my 989 to 90mm so it fits my initial D body, ive modded it down to 2wd and im at the stage where I'm cutting more and more out to try and reach the smallest wheelbase possible. Lol. It isn't playing nice, thats for sure.
Since you mod it to RWD you can also extend the wheelbase to fit an AE86 1/24 scale model. This car is wide already so it'll fit perfectly with the model because it's too wide for Mini-Z AE86.
When the steering is in the centre, toe angle is the angle which the wheels are pointing in relation with the centre line of chassis. To put it simply when the steering is center, if the wheels are pointing outwards, it's toe out. If the wheels are pointing in towards the centre of the car, it's toe in.
Check servo position, it should be a bit up front so when the steering is in neurtral the arms form an angle towards the front with the knuckles. And when it in full lock the arms will go almost right angle to centre line of the chassis. Next, put M2 screw in lower arms to adjust the ride height. Push the front down until the wheels touch the ground for the whole steering range.

Isn't the k989 all wheel drive?
Yes, it is. This one is modded to RWD drift.
@@BeaversHobby did you have a video where you missed it to rear wheel drive?

@@goingcrazy00 I don't know. How big are this heli's balls? WLtoys' are 3.5mm throughout the car so if you find ball caps and linkages for 3.5mm ball head they will work.
Is the only way to utilize a gyro on this car through a different esc+receiver?
You can use this gyro on any system with 3 pins from servo and the output voltage between 5-6V. So any standard receiver will work. It'll also work with original WLtoys electronics too.
I wanna see you try putting a body on that. Good job.
The body is still standard K989 Fiesta which looks a bit out of place when it's RWD.
Beaver's Hobby what if you tried putting a model car body on it. That would be sick
Time to go shopping then. I don't know when can I do it though but I see people putting plastic model on these cars for really long time now.
Beaver's Hobby I hear that the tamiya Toyota Supra model is 102mm in wheel base
@@nameless2346 Thanks for the info. I'll see what can I get in my local shop.

apa servo yang kamu gunakan?
Gening D561MG but it seems to be out of production now. You can use anything from 9g servo and smaller, preferably 5g.
servo apa yang bagus?
maaf banyak bertanya..karena saya masih newbie
No problem. Take a look at CYS m.banggood.com/CYS-S8221-9g-Digital-Metal-Gear-Servo-for-RC-Models-p-1338527.html

hai beaver..aku sudah mencoba membuat k989 ku menjadi rwd, tapi selalu berputar.aku menggunakan onisiki gyro, servo towerpro mg90s,tapi masih memakai recever dan remote bawaan wltoys.apakah itu penyebabnya?
what size is the full rod mm
The steering rod? 26.5mm end to end, 21.5mm centre to centre of the ball heads.
However this depends on many things such as the length of your servo horn, distance between ball head on the horn, servo position, knuckle length, etc.
@@BeaversHobby yes steering rod...ok ... for the upper arm does it have to be modified a little longer ... and if it's not modified it isn't perfect??
No creo que sea capaz de conseguirlo :( todo lo demás perfecto
rear lock diff sir..?
Yes.

Wow, that was amazing. Welldone, The drift angle were significant improved. May I ask do you any problem with the slidelogy gryo?
I've got no problem so far.
Are you from Finland?😅
The atomic amz servo horn is too big for a k989 servo isnt it..
Sorry, I don't have AMZ. I only have DRZ and from the looks of it the horn should work with Wltoys too.
What is toe out? Liked the video :)
When the steering is in the centre, toe angle is the angle which the wheels are pointing in relation with the centre line of chassis. To put it simply when the steering is center, if the wheels are pointing outwards, it's toe out. If the wheels are pointing in towards the centre of the car, it's toe in.
@@BeaversHobby Nice. TY. I'm still new with the hobby.
you sell any of your build drift build? I
No. I only make video telling how to do it. Also postage fee in my country is very expensive.
My wheels keep lifting up
Check servo position, it should be a bit up front so when the steering is in neurtral the arms form an angle towards the front with the knuckles. And when it in full lock the arms will go almost right angle to centre line of the chassis.
Next, put M2 screw in lower arms to adjust the ride height. Push the front down until the wheels touch the ground for the whole steering range.
Make a tutorial on how to learn to drift with RWD and AWD RC cars.
