Superman can easily knock Homelander out by flicking him on the forehead.
I think a lot of people downplay how weak homelander is, but I think the general consensus is that he is a little below city level. Superman on the other hand is easily solar system +. So yeah, big difference.

Growing up is realizing Superman wouldn’t even fight homelander. He would sit homelander down on a park bench in Smallville and make him realize the error of his ways.
Growing up is realizing that malignant narcissists like Homelander don't have the emotional intelligence to ever admit the error of their ways, and will make excuses and deflect and ruin the lives of those around them until they're dead, and anyone who tries to 'help' them is going to be putting all their time and energy into a never-ending black hole of perpetually dissatisfied, easily-triggered, hypocritically-fragile egocentricity.
After all the years watching Smallville, I can attest, confidently, that it would probably only work for an episode or two, before something would trigger HomeLuther again and baddie resorts to bad again.
Probably the only way they would get into a fight is if Homelander started it. Also, never forget Superman‘s greatest power. His heart. He would probably be fighting for something other than himself. And that is why he would win.
Then Batman shows up and ask Home-lander if he Bleeds
That is what sets apart Superman from the rest. His humility and boyscout morals. Take away that, and you just have a overpowered whoever cares.

As far as speed. In the very first Superman, the great Christopher Reeve flew around the earth at the speed of light (186,000. miles per second) and made time go backwards.
That kind of dumb crap is why I hate Superman. No one character should have every single power. The power to turn back time belongs to Flash in the DCU, therefore, in my opinion, Superman can't have it. He's a mary-sue.

Everyone knew this already. Anybody who watches the show, or has read the comics knows that Homelander is no-where near the level of Superman. In fact, he'd likely not even beat the DCEU version of Aquaman or Wonder Woman. The DCEU Superman just scales so much higher than what we've seen from Homelander.

I enjoy superman questions because i do work with physics so all of the feats no matter comic or EU im pretty much a huge fan of. Its what got me into my field of work. But yea he still rips homelander apart like wet 1 ply tissue. it isnt a fair comparison clearly but it is the question at hand sadly.
While superman is much more weaaker in EU, he still is by far the furthest thing from being a push over lol. They would need better comparisons but i think they grift this way for giggles. Wish they wouldve tried omni man or something instead of superman for the comparison.
@Rome__king Bud, escaping a black hole and moving galaxies are two completely different things.
Most of DCEU Superman's best feats come from scailimg or off-screen action that we never actually seen.

Its a reason the fastest thing known in the universe "which is light", can never escape a black hole. It warps time and space like tissue. You would need a density or strength in this situation more than the event horizon to escape. So in theory he would be capable of moving more than 7 galaxies to escape a black whole if we are trying to be precise.
The EU feats are still ridiculous which is why I said its not close to a fair comparison. Even in the live action series Superman lifts a 250k ton cruise across the Atlantic with one arm.... like it was nothing.... In EU he explained constantly he has to hold back majority of his strength or the planet could perish if he lets loose. Homelander barely destroying 6 story apartment complexes trying his hardest... Super soldier strength vs galaxy level strength will never be comparable. These are all feats in EU at that.
Moving from a black whole makes moving a galaxy look casual. Even our entire galaxy i slowly drifting to our central black whole with the Andromeda galaxy neighbor we have...thats how strong black holes are.... to drag two galaxies to it with planets that make Earth look like a pebble... I strongly recommend checking out the black hole videos on youtube they will blow your mind in terms of physics. Its the only thing known in the universe that can literally warp all fabric of reality from its insane density pull. Its the only thing stronger than super nova's if you compare the gamma burst rays one produces which can destroy ANYTHING within its cone of Gamma burst in a instant in 150 light years distance..... but I'm sure you will disagree on logic and math of this so think as you feel my friend.
To put it simply, as so many others have stated Homelander is a bully, he's not use to regularly facing opponents as strong as him. Where as the Superman seen here faced opponents who were just as strong if not stronger than him on a regular basis.

Homelander was wrong about the plane. There are points in the plane's structure that are engineered to be strong enough to take a significant load -- most notably, where the landing gear attaches. Homey could have applied force there to, at a minimum, guide the plane to a safe splashdown. He just chose not to because he's a bastard.
That and, he probably isn’t smart enough to know that. Lol.
Yea even flying under it gradually slowing it down would have helped. He just didn't really care since he was going to use it for ulterior motives.

When explaining to Maeve why he can not do it the reason is he has nowhere to lift that will not break the plane. Most superhero stuff simply ignores the problem.

Homelander's comment about lifting the plane is I believe the writers' approach to "superhero physics" in a more realistic way. He states to Maeve that there's nothing to push against, which is true, depending on what his mechanism of flight is. That said, I don't believe there's a chance for Homelander here at all. Both can be hurt and killed, but I don't believe Homelander is anywhere close to the Doomsday level of strength required to hurt Superman. At the end of the day, Homelander is still just a V-enhanced human, while Superman is a Kryptonian with entirely different genetics and physiology.

Don't forget that Homelander got bruised from soldier boy as soldier boy has the ability to literally drain compound v from supes. You could say he was in a vulnerable state just from being around soldier boy as superman is vulnerable while being around kryptonite. You notice that the tnt twins couldn't even use their power at soldier boy as he just weakens those around him. And queen mauve was able to stab him after soldier boy was powering up which affected everyone in proximity, just as doomsday was able to stab through superman as he was in proximity of the kryptonite spear.

Going back to the first 2 movies in the 80's, Superman lifted tectonic plates inside the Earths crust and flew so fast to reverse time for the entire planet. If Superman did not hold back, Homelander would be like a water balloon popping in the mid-air.

I’d pay mucho dollars to see a theatrical version of Superman humbling HL after he’s done some evil deed and brags about it. That would be awesome on so many levels. Imagine Sups giving HL that slapping Goku gave Frieza.

I am willing to bet that an actual Nuke will be used on Homelander in season 4 as he will likely take over America.
I think that Marie from Gen V might actually wind up killing Homelander.. We know that she is strong enough to take his heat vision and in the comics Homelander dies with part of his head being blown off.. The only person in The Boys Universe so far with the power to do that is Marie with her powers over Blood... Well either her and Neuman.

If you pay attention in BvS, where the guy in the wheel chair is preparing the spray paint to go vandalize Superman's statue, you can spot a pinboard with newspaper clippings, there is one headline that reads something like "Superman shifts tectonic plaques to avoid tsunami" or something like that, DCEU Superman doing that proofs that he can fart and send homelander to the other side of the galaxy.

JRR Tolkein had a theory about good and evil. He believed that good didn't prevail because it was stronger. He believed good prevailed because good cooperates with itself, while evil devolves into selfish infighting.
Even if Homelander were more powerful than Superman, this would not be a 1v1 fight. Superman would have the entire Justice League on his side, plus the entirety of humanity. Who would stand with Homelander? Even Soldier Boy, his father, was betrayed by his own troops.

He didn't say he couldn't lift or carry the plane. He basically said he would just rip through the plane if he tried. That meant the metal in a humans size vs the weight of the plane could NOT hold HIM. He would go though it like a bullet. It's the one nail vs a bed of nails analogy.

Obviously, Homelander comes from a universe based in reality, he's supposed to be the best among slightly more powerful humans, Superman comes from the comical insanity of the DC universe, he's supposed to be a peer to gods.
Even if they both survive a nuke, that doesn't mean they have equal durability. It would just mean they both survived the3 maximum force tested against them. There are more damaging events than being in a nuke blast.
A plane can typically fly on one engine all he really had to do is support one of the Wings where the engines mounted to the frame.

One thing I didn't here that is important. Homelander's power is set. He can never get stronger. Clark gets stronger with age and exposure to the sun.
The reason Superman can lift or hold up such heavy crafts without busting through the bottom is because he can manipulate gravitrons, a form of telekinesis... when Superman puts his hands on said craft, this "energy" envelops the entire object and keeps its integrity intact. Homelander doesn't have that ability, and that's why He couldn't just land the plane by holding it... Not because he wasn't strong enough, but because he would bust right through the bottom of it.

I believe fragility of the plane is why Homelander couldn't carry the plane. No lift points. There is no place on that plane that would not yield if it's full weight was pressed onto human hands. The thin sheet metal would yield and the plane would fall apart if Homelander tried to lift it. Even if he tried lifting the plane at the landing gear, because those planes have landing gear on both wings and the nose that share the load, lifting the plane's weight at just one landing gear would probably just rip the landing gear through the wing or the nose. Yes after a wing ripped off the plane would weigh less, but the 2 remaining landing gears are not enough to support the plane's weight. So he was correct. There was no real world way for an impossibly strong human who can fly to carry a massive sheet metal plane that has no lift points. It would just rip apart if he tried.

The writers intend for homelander to be more powerful. They just dont have the special effects budget to show it in fights.
Its much easier when Homelander hits a guy inside a room for the fight to stay inside the room. When you punch someone through the wall and through 5 mountains, suddenly you add $500,000 to the shows cost.
homelander admitted he can't go under a falling plane and bring it safely to the ground. in another episode they bought the ceiling down on him in a tunnel and that held him down so they could escape He CAN NOT lift heave items
