This film proves that Lord and Miller are writing geniuses. There's so many hilarious quotes and gags throughout. Mostly with the giant food, Steve, and Officer Earl. But they also know how to balance it out with just the right amount of heart. The conflict and ultimate resolution between Flint and his father is handled really well, and overall, this movie just has a great message about embracing who you are and supporting your loved ones.
This was Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s directorial debut. They have gone on to be directors and/or producers of the Lego movie franchise, The Mitchells vs the Machines, and the Spider-Verse films, among others. They are a massive force in innovative animation, and frankly you can see that as far back as this film.
To explain why they take a deep breath when they kiss, the joke is that Flint’s nose is too big for either to exchange a normal kiss. So they puff up their cheeks so their lips can even make contact, lol.
This movie was based on a children's book I used to read when I was a kid. From what I remember, it wasn't about a scientist, it was just about a small town that one day noticed food falling from the sky. At first they loved it, but eventually it was too much and the book ended with the people having to leave their homes. Pretty sad for a children's book. Glad the movie was more upbeat.
I find it so funny how no one reacts to how the television with legs keeps showing up at random moments. Like the rats, it just plays a minimal part, but it just is there after all those years.
This movie always makes me hungry. Officer Earl running is the best part of the whole movie. You will definitely have a lot of fun with the sequel if you decide to do it
This is based off a little old book, from 1982, for like 4-7 year old kids lol. I loved this book as a kid. The back of the book has the following "premise": "If food dropped like rain from the sky, wouldn't it be marvelous! Or would it? It could, after all, be messy. And you'd have no choice. What if you didn't like what fell? Or what if too much came? Have you ever thought of what it might be like to be squashed flat by a pancake?" So for a book as simple as that I was blown away with how cute the story of the movie turned out to be lol, even for adults.
This movie is so amazing, I remember going to the cinemas when it was released and I fell in love with it so much, brings back so many childhood memories 😊
You should definitely watch “The Adventures of Tintín” massively underrated animated film. An Aus/NZ made film (Weta production directed by Peter Jackson), but produced by Steven Spielberg.
When I watched this as a kid, I identified my self a lot with flint as an autistic I always felt like an outcast in school for being smart and nerdy and not understanding social life and metaphors almost at all. I'm 24 today and have learned to be my self probably partially due to this movie's message. Flint does have some autistic symptoms, his obsessiveness and hyper-fixation with his invention, his awkward social interactions and his inability to comprehend basic metaphors.
I saw this in theaters after dropping LSD. Best choice i ever made. 😂😂 it had all the perfect triggers and the humor style was excellent. The exaggerated expressions hit so great. Set off a lot of funny bells in the best way. Especially the gasping scene and the unintelligible acronyms.
This cast is kinda stacked. Bill Hader, Anna Farris, Neil Patrick Harris (voice of Steve), Bruce Campbell, Ariel Winters, Andy Samberg was the man-baby, Will Forte, and Mr freaking T.
In Brazil we have avocado, mango and coconut on the streets, free for anyone to take for free. It's really crazy to think about how expensive it is and here it spoils for excess
“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” joins “Shrek” in the list of animated movies loosely based on picture books that have no right being as amazing as they are. Lol
This movie was a huge deal when it came out (at last to kids and teens) because at that time (and even now) there weren't many people making animated movies, especially ones that were not Disney.
I have a deep-rooted thing about what you said the "avocado is very expensive". Because in México where i live, 1kg of avocado is $76.15(MXN), $6.26(AUD), $4.12(USD). Something like that.
Other movies with this kind of energy that you should check out are: The Mitchell's vs the Machines, Storks, The Lego Movie part 2, and Lego Batman. Many of the same people that worked on Cloudy also worked on them!
Thanks Mary, I kind of forgot how good this movie really was. I saw it when it first came out, and kind of forgot about it over the years. Even now, years later, it still cracks me up.
This is completely random but I love this movie and I love your reactions and this just gave me so much happiness this morning, and I hope you have a lovely day! 🥰🥰🥰
Check out the sequel too please! So this is based on a children's book, which I loved the art style if as a kid. This movie didn't look anything like that though. So I couldn't have cared less for the movie when it came out. But one day I gave it a shot and bought the dvd, and I'm super glad I did because it's one of my favorites! When Sam says "I, too, was a nerd." Flint replies "too?" Like he doesn't consider himself a nerd. The cop is voiced by Mr T, and when he takes his hat off, you might notice he has a reverse Mr T haircut. In the sequel, this character is voiced by Terry Crews.
Sony should let PHIL LORD and CHRIS MILLER in charge of their Marvel cinematic universe They can save it from AVl ARAD, the same way they did with SPIDERVERSE
Hi Mary you look pretty❤ I really love your reaction to this movie cloudy with the chance of meatballs, My fav part was your laughing reaction Mary :) Hope You watch the 2nd movie someday !!!

Underrated movie. I'm not sure why it fell off the radar so quickly. I guess you can chalk it to the popularity of Up and Toy Story 3.
Well, at least it was popular enough to gain a sequel!
Coz people wish that food machine was real lol
I can think of a lot of reasons it fell off the radar, but I don't think people would appreciate me categorically listing the reasons.
I wouldn’t call it underrated if it got a sequel. You should change your definition of “underrated”
It ain't underrated. You think it's underrated because this was from the 2010s late 2000s

They really are a remarkable duo.

As a kid, a story about a machine that made food fall from the sky would've been a great fantasy read. I'm glad the book got turned into a movie
There was a children's book. I remember reading it in school in the 90s.
People may disagree with me, but I find this to be one of Mary’ funniest reactions.
Yeah it is a great reaction (But I loved her reaction to Back to the future)
I was thinking the same thing.
All her reactions are funny though

Same, the second movie continued the theme of the book
I find it so funny how no one reacts to how the television with legs keeps showing up at random moments. Like the rats, it just plays a minimal part, but it just is there after all those years.
I love when people are looting and the tv steals a person lol
@@mynameisbeech yeeesssss! That part is hilarious.
The father's speech at the end is really touching.
This movie always makes me hungry. Officer Earl running is the best part of the whole movie. You will definitely have a lot of fun with the sequel if you decide to do it
10:25 "I feel like that's going to come back at some point."
That's... actually a very smart... observation.
The cop is definitely my favourite character, just his running and mannerisms is complete meme worthy 😂😂😂.
Mr. T makes that cop so much more enjoyable
Literally 😂 the amount of times I've screamed "FLINT LOCKWOOD" or said "My chest hairs are tingling" to my friends is uncountable at this point 💀🤣
Over the Hedge is amazing!

The snowball sequence run into the room always KILLS me 😂😂😂😂 14:00
Oh my God, the mayor is like Baron Harkonnen from Dune!!!
This movie is so amazing, I remember going to the cinemas when it was released and I fell in love with it so much, brings back so many childhood memories 😊
Another childhood movie. Never expected it to be reacted by you but I loved it

This was such a charming movie. It kinda flew under my radar until I saw it on cable. It's so much fun and heartwarming.
This movie is great! It’s very underrated, and plus it has Bruce Campbell (which is always a win) voicing the Mayor.
It’s cloudy where I am, but no chance of meatballs today. Lol i haven’t watched this in a long time.
the 2nd one is hands down the best 😭😭😭😭
my childhood 💖 part 2 is my favorite
I feel bad for flint when he was trapped in giant glass fish bowl with people angry and his dad disappointed
the kiss was just like that it is because of his nose
This film always gets me hungry lmao.
The music slaps tho ngl
18:23 THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!! 😂🤣😂 I LOVE MARY SHE IS TOO FUNNY!
36:03 Actually, the joke that you missed was that Flynn looked handsome to Sam without the glasses 😂
I saw this in theaters after dropping LSD. Best choice i ever made. 😂😂

this movie is SO F$%KING GOOD!!!!
Great reaction! This is such a wonderful film and now I want to watch it again 😁
My brother and I watched this everyday for and 45 days when we moved into a new house. Such a comfort movie
Tim is definitely my favorite character, and James Caan was perfectly cast
In Brazil the title is “It’s raining burgers”
Interesting
One of the few movies to ever make me audibly laugh.
I was surprised when I realized the Mayor was voiced by Bruce Campbell and Carl was voiced by Mister T.
Earl

The 2 nd part of this movie is way more fun than this one , its so full of uniqueness 💖
Can we get a reaction on that one?

I had the book since I was a child once I seen the movie I gotten emotional
11:47 ooh, here in Costa Rica a 1 kilogram of avocado(we call it aguacate) costs around 4.50 AUD.
18:53 As an animator I'm CONVINCED that was to save time on hand animation and to be hilarious 🤣
5:47
*FLINT LOCKWOOD!!!*
The birth of the Earl running meme. 😂😂😂😂
The opening clip of your video is my favorite part of the movie, when she plants her ankles in his eyes haha.
“Pigeons are rat birds”
Have you watched Spies in Disguise yet? 😂
that mayor is legit creepy.... but these types exists. pretending to be your friend but only caring about themselves.

One of my favorite books, ever since I was a kid - and one of my favorite movies.
I love this movie so much! I think because I adored the book as a kid. I don't know why maybe the concept was just so amazing as a kid
I loved this book when I was a kid. And, this movie is by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, a recipe for brilliance.
Over the Hedge! You must react to it for the soundtrack alone
What really upsets me is that they never said how the mom died
Other movies with this kind of energy that you should check out are: The Mitchell's vs the Machines, Storks, The Lego Movie part 2, and Lego Batman. Many of the same people that worked on Cloudy also worked on them!
I love Storks it definitely doesn't get the love it deserves. Andy Samberg is hilarious in it and I love Pigeon Toady!
Mom of the year award goes to Mrs. Lockwood
Never heard of the corn kid tell you showed us. Then i had go to check it out my self.

Pretty cool
The fact they got Neil Patrick Harris to voice Steve the monkey is hilarious
I also love that Bill Hader does his voice
One of my favorite animated movies 🎥 🍿 😆😆
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is amazing.
"Steve! Gummy Bears! Steve!"
before this reaction, i had never noticed that sam woth blurry vision thought flunt was a lot more handsome than he is 😂
Cloudy with a chance of meatballs has a amazing cast, a decent plot, and a sequel that has a hidden monster to look out for! Oh and terrible puns.
The amount of death Mary was prepared for in a kid’s movie 😂😂
The corn has the juice. I can’t imagine a more beautiful thing…

Mr. T, the voice of Earl the cop, actually wears his hair the opposite that Earl does.
31:24 ...and, now I'm crying
I think the 2nd movie is really good too. It's not a popular opinion, but I've always really enjoyed it.
One of my favourite movies, You should definitely react to the 2nd one, it's just as good 👍🏻
